Protests started in LA in response to immigration raids from ICE, and as the week has gone on, they have gained momentum and started to spread.Angelinos of all types have joined the protests, and in response, Trump sent the National Guard, and LAPD officers have used flash bangs, rubber bullets, and other "less lethal" weapons.Now, on June 14, there's going to be the largest mass mobilization of protests and marches since Trump took office for the second time.These No Kings marches and rallies are in response to Trump's corruption, overreach, and authoritarian actions, including the immigration raids. The protests will take place in over 2,000 cities across the United States."No Kings is a nationwide day of defiance," the movement's website says. When asked about what she wants to do when she grows up, the teen answered confidently."I want to be a supermodel. Period," she said. "I've been practicing my walks in the kitchen for years; my mom can show you all the videos I forced her to film.""Struggling with gender identity from a young age most likely had something to do with it," she added. "I always wanted to grow up and be a beautiful, glamorous, influential woman like Marilyn."Schreiber cemented her desire to be a model as soon as she got her first modeling job, saying that "that job made me realize, 'Okay, this is what I want to do.'"Schreiber also talked about who she looks up to and named several trans models."As a young trans girl, Im always going to look up to the older generation of transgender people, especially in fashion," she said. "I think that's the best way I can do it."This particular event was packed with queer talent, including the cast of the popular Prime Video series. For many people, the term lesbian holds all the power in the world.Accepting and loving yourself as the lesbian that you are, in a world that hates lesbians (and women), is one of the hardest things you can do. Unfortunately, this has become especially true in recent years.Not only do lesbians have to deal with compulsory heterosexuality, people associating the word with porn for straight men, and homophobic bullying around the term, but there is a whole new slew of reasons why people might not disclose that they identify as lesbians.A lot of people, especially young people, have adopted very prescriptive definitions of what it means to be a lesbian. These individuals believe, for instance, that if you've ever been attracted to anyone who isn't a woman whether they're nonbinary, a man, trans masc, or anything else you have no right to call yourself a lesbian. Others avoid the term because they think it's been co-opted by TERFs (trans-exclusionary radical feminists), who claim to be the only "true lesbians."
