12 LGBTQ+ celebs who have talked about being neurodiverse
Nonbinary The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey just opened up for the first time about being autistic in a new interview with British Vogue.I got diagnosed with autism when I was filming season one of The Last of Us, Ramsey revealed. But Ramsey isnt the only LGBTQ+ who is neurodiverse. There are plenty of other queer celebrities who are also autistic or have ADHD or OCD.One thing these queer stars seem to agree on is that being neurodiverse has helped them in different ways despite living in a neurotypical world that can often be judgmental.Bella RamseySee on InstagramThe label of being autistic has been so helpful to me because thats helped me to understand myself, but gender and sexuality-wise, labels do not feel comfy for me in any capacity, because I feel like Im putting myself into a box. I feel trapped, nonbinary The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey told British Vogue in their first interview talking about their diagnosis.Ramsey went on to say that being autistic is actually a gift when it comes to acting, Ive always been watching and learning from people. Having to learn more manually how to socialize and interact with the people around me has helped me with acting. Being on set, too, offers a routine: I have a call time, and Im told what to wear, how to stand, where to stand and what to eat. They describe the diagnosis as freeing It enables me to walk through the world with more grace towards myself about not being able to do the easy everyday tasks that everyone else seems to be able to do.Janelle MoneSee on InstagramMost people dont understand whats going on in my brain, nonbinary singer Janelle Mone told Ms. Magazine about their OCD diagnosis. Its beautiful that I have a title called The Age of Pleasure because it actually re-centers me. Its not about an album anymore. Ive changed my whole fucking lifestyle. Wentworth MillerSee on Instagram"This isn't something I'd change immediately being autistic is central to who I am. To everything I've achieved/articulated," actor Wentworth Miller wrote on Instagram, People reported back in 2021.He continued, "This fall marks 1 year since I received my informal autism diagnosis. Preceded by a self-diagnosis. Followed by a formal diagnosis. It was a long, flawed process in need of updating. IMO. I'm a middle-aged man. Not a 5-year-old."Bradley RichesSee on Instagram"Acting is an escapism for me. I feel free and understood when playing characters when, most of the time, I felt misunderstood as Bradley. I am so happy that I can show autistic people that they arent alone and that they arent invisible they are beautiful and magical, gay and autistic Heartstopper star Bradley Riches who was diagnosed when he was 9 years old told Metro after landing a role on the queer Netflix teen drama.Hannah GadsbySee on InstagramFor a long time, I worried that Id been misdiagnosed. It was difficult to believe that I wasnt entirely to blame for my life being such a painful struggle, because I was so used to assuming I was a bad person. It took me a long time to get brave enough to simply share my diagnosis. My experience did not match the popular understanding of autism, and I knew I had to become an expert in neurobiology in order to untangle the myriad myths surrounding autism just to beg permission to claim that piece of my identity, genderqueer comedian Hannah Gadsby wrote in an essay for The Guardian about being autistic. Michelle RodriguezSee on Instagram"I want to write and direct but its not easy with ADHD. I have a hard time focusing when Im alone, bisexual Girlfight star Michelle Rodriguez told Cosmopolitan back in 2013. But she also admitted to being nervous to try medication. "Im a scatterbrain, she added. "But I'm nervous of taking medication. I don't really want to depend on anything to control my brain."Cara DelevingneSee on Instagram"Im not in hell now. The things that stick with all of us the most are the darker times, the more traumatic times, queer model and actress Cara Delevingne said on This Morning discussing her challenges with ADHD . Those are some of the points I remember the most. I didnt know how to communicate my emotions. I was very ashamed of the way I felt. I had a very privileged upbringing, I was very lucky, I went to an amazing school. She continued, "And then the guilt of feeling that way and not being able to tell anyone because I shouldnt feel that way and I shouldnt feel bad. Its the guilt."Josh ThomasSee on InstagramAutistic comedian and actor Josh Thomas wasnt diagnosed until he was adult, but he think it helped him when making his podcast How To Be Gay. I was more aware of the fact that [Im] bad at some stuff getting people to feel comfortable and talk about themselves I wouldnt say Im the frontrunner for that job. Which I think got us interesting interviews because Im so direct, and nobody sounds like theyre bullshitting or being performative, he told The Guardian.Rene RappSee on InstagramI didnt know I had ADHD as a kid, I just thought I was really dramatic! I am, but thats a separate thing, queer singer and actress Rene Rapp said in an interview with Official Charts to talk about her album Snow Angel. "I didnt know or understand what it was, but now I do and I really love it. I think it helps me a lot. When Im writing a song, ten songs are coming out of that concept. My brain is in ten different places. I actually really enjoy it. Its exhausting, dont get me wrong, but its really fun. If its somebody elses story and a different creative process, I dont do as well and I might panic. When its my thing, though, Im like wow, I have so many ideas!Ellen DegeneresSee on InstagramMy ADD makes it really hard to sit down and focus on anything at all, Ellen Degeneres said in her Netflix stand-up special, Additude reported. I mean, do you know how hard it was for me to put this together? Of course you don't. Why would I ask that question?Degeneres continued, So, I have ADD, I have OCD, I'm losing my memory. But I think I'm well-adjusted because I obsess on things, but I don't have the attention span to stick with it, and I quickly forget what I was obsessing about in the first place, she added. So, it takes me all the way around to being well adjusted, I think.Hormona LisaSee on InstagramI briefly mentioned this after my elimination, but I want to officially share that I have been diagnosed with autism, Drag Race star Hormona Lisa revealed on Reddit. I received my diagnosis nearly 7 years ago, and it really helped explain a lot of my life experiences, like never quite fitting in, no matter how much I wanted to, or people not quite understanding me. It can be frustrating at times, especially when I feel like Im expressing something one way, but others dont see it the same way. Still, its a part of who I am, and I wouldnt change it!I really hope that by sharing my story, I can give others with autism the courage to embrace who they are, even when it feels like the world doesnt quite get them, Hormona previously told PRIDE. Sharing my diagnosis has always been something Ive been hesitant about, but Ive come to realize that being open about it is important not just for me, but for others who might feel alone in their own struggles." Bex Taylor-KlausSee on Instagram"Embrace it. It may be a nuisance, it may be hard to deal with sometimes, but you can learn to manage it. Don't ever try to get rid of it entirely. Attention deficit makes you special, nonbinary actor Bex Taylor-Klaus said of their ADHD diagnosis, Additude reported. Since then Taylor-Klaus has been open about being AuDHD, meaning that they are both autistic and have ADHD.

Brooke Shields & Jenna Bush Hagar admit they would 'leave' their husbands for Brandi Carlile
Lesbian singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile doesnt just have Sapphics crushing on her; straight women are obsessed, too!On an episode of Today, host Jenna Bush Hagar and guest co-host and actress Brooke Shields discovered they both have a thing for the 43-year-old Highwomen singer. The two women bonded over having the same taste in women after Bush Hagar admitted that she became obsessed with Carlile when she announced her plans to create a new album with legend Elton John, Decider reports.Im obsessed with both of them, but I think we both would leave our husbands for her, Shields revealed. The co-hosts both admitted they told their husbands they would leave them to shoot their shot with Carlile. Hes like, Wait, wait. Do I have to worry?' Shields said of her husband Chris Henchy, who she married back in 2001, just a year before Carlile came out as a lesbian. So close! We have the same type in women! Bush Hager said before Shields laughed and agreed with her, Yeah, we do. We have the same taste.Bush Hagar, who isnt a Republican, despite coming from a famously conservative dynasty, said that she once almost had her own meet-cute with the 11-time Grammy winner, but fate intervened.I saw her in Madison Square Garden and I was texting her PR person and then I got in the taxi and I went home, she told Shields. And on the way home shes like, Brandi wants you to come backstage, and I was like aw, Im already on my way home because maybe that shes married, but in my mind Im like, That could have been the moment!Hagar-Bush continued, I mean Im married too, were both married, were all married! Why is she such a dream?Shields' answer to that question: Carliles beautiful feminine, masculine energy.

Suzie Toot says the cast of 'RuPaul's Drag Race' experienced a hate crime in Las Vegas
Now is not the time to be afraid.LGBTQ+ rights are under attack in the United States, but the queens of RuPaul's Drag Race are standing up at a time it's needed most. While celebrating the 1000th show of RuPaul's Drag Race Live, the top six competitors from Drag Race season 17 including Suzie Toot, Lana Ja'Rae, Lexi Love, Onya Nurve, Jewels Sparkles, and Sam Star took some pictures at a popular Las Vegas attraction and faced a hate crime."We were taking photos in front of the Las Vegas sign and we had to cut everybody because we're famous and we have things to do. As we were taking pictures, someone went, 'Boo! Not in front of the children,'" Toot tells PRIDE. See on Instagram In typical and brave drag fashion, the queens didn't just listen to the hatred and move along. Nurve and Ja'Rae stood up for themselves and their Drag Race sisters against the attack."Onya and Lana went right up to them and said, 'What did you say?' It was really good. Speak up when something f***ed up is going on!"Although it's very unfortunate that hateful rhetoric against the LGBTQ+ community is still in full effect, Toot is reminding everyone to stay strong and keep fighting despite all of the negativity."During political unrest, arts and culture thrive because it is more necessary than ever. People need not only an escape, but also a mirror and reflection of what is happening. What we can do besides calling our lawmakers and voting if you're not voting, you're not a Tooter is make art and support art. It's going to keep us sane and focused on the mission."RuPaul's Drag Race airs Friday nights on MTV. To see the full interview with Suzie Toot, check out the video at the top of the page.

J.K. Rowling slammed over latest pathetic dig at 'Harry Potter' actors
J.K. Rowling took a five second break from her crusade against trans rights to take aim at a different group the stars of Harry Potter.Earlier this week, the controversial author retweeted a post on X that asked a broad question of anyone wanting to interact with it: "What actor/actress instantly ruins a movie for you?""Three guesses," she wrote. "Sorry, but that was irresistible." (@) It doesnt take magic to figure out this is a thinly veiled dig at Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint and a predictably childish one, at that. Rowling has previously made it clear that shes fallen out with the three actors due to her dangerous views on trans people. Of course, by her account, its because theyre the ones pushing dangerous views."Celebs who cosied up to a movement intent on eroding womens hard-won rights and who used their platforms to cheer on the transitioning of minors can save their apologies for traumatised detransitioners and vulnerable women reliant on single sex spaces," she wrote on X last year after someone suggested she would "forgive" Radcliffe and Watson for supporting trans rights. Its important to note that, to date, none of the three actors have indicated an interest in "apologizing" for supporting a marginalized community. Additionally, the number of trans people who detransition is extremely small.Rowling clearly thought she was being hilarious in taking another swing at the Harry Potter stars. And her anti-trans crowd who cheers on every bit of hatred she spews certainly agreed. But plenty of other people called her out for just how pathetic this continues to look. (@) "Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint are fathers, Emma Watson is doing a Masters at Oxford, Dan won a Tony last year, Rupert did a critically acclaimed Apple TV series, Emma started a business with her brothermeanwhile youre a weird lady obsessed with peoples genitals, Joanne." (@) "It makes you laugh that anti-trans activists say were the ones forcing our will onto others when they cant handle the fact that three kids who starred in an adaptation of a novel grew up, formed their own opinions and have the agency to not agree with their bigotry." (@) "theres only one reason she wants a new harry potter series, and its because she hates the idea that she had a hand in starting the careers of three incredibly decent people with lives that arent plagued by hatred and have great success despite speaking out against her bigotry" (@) "the children who get cast in the new harry potter show will be forced to sign an ironclad contract promising they will never contradict jk rowling on anything for the rest of their lives" (@) "Theres something deeply weird and creepy at the pathological hatred she has for three adults that she world have met as children and feels betrayed that they dont have the same opinions as her."

Its so exciting to live in a day and age where so many famous people feel comfortable announcing to the world that theyre queer. So here are all of the celebrities who have bravely come out as LGBTQ+ in 2025... so far! Jade CareySee on InstagramOlympic gymnast Jade Carey came out on March 20 when she hard launched her new girlfriend on Instagram, marking the first time the gold medal winner has ever spoken publicly about her sexuality. Carey celebrated the love she shares with her girlfriend Aimee Sinacola, director of creative content for the University of Oregon Ducks, by posting a carousel of photos of the two women together along with the simple caption, happy followed by the white heart, lock and key, sparkle, and love letter emojis.Jenny Blake Isabella (@) On February 9, Black Lightning creator Jenny Blake Isabella came out as transgender on X (formerly Twitter) by posting the meme Keep Calm and Yes I'm Transgender. She went into more detail in caption and asked fans to repeat her desire for privacy, This is real. I'll have more to say soon. In the meantime, I ask you respect my privacy and especially that of my wife and our children. Thank you.Isabella followed her initial post the next day with an update about how rewarding it was to live her authentic life out lout and proud. THINGS THAT MAKE ME HAPPY: Coming out as transgender on my social media was one of the scariest things I have ever done. The love and support I was shown lifted my spirits and gave me hope. Ill have more to say soon. For now...thank you, she wrote on X.Alexis FloydSee on InstagramGreys Anatomy star Alexis Floyd came out publicly for the first time on an episode of the Made it Out podcast, telling the host that she was pretty young when she first realized she was queer. I was pretty young, like probably fifth grade. I remember having a crush on a girl and hanging out with her and kissing at a playdate, she recalled. Then that just sort of continued through my life where in college, again, like, yeah, I would date trans folks, non-binary folks, like all sorts of folks. She also said that embracing her queer identity is something shes still working on, I still and something I'm still navigating is this internalized feeling of not being queer enough to like, like to be honest, like this is the first time I'm really publicly speaking about my queerness on a formal platform.Brianna ChickenfrySee on InstagramFormer Barstool Sports personality Brianna Chickenfry LaPaglia admitted that she may be "fully a lesbian while on an episode of the BFF podcast in January. Everyones saying Im a lesbian, which is fine. Ive dabbled for sure. Im thinking maybe girls is my play, she said. She went on to tell the podcast host that she suspects her past relationships with men may not have worked because of her sexuality. I think that theyre better, so maybe I really am fully a lesbian, so maybe thats why none of my relationships with men have worked out, LaPaglia continued. But I dont know. Time will tell.Paul Rubens aka Pee-wee HermanSee on InstagramPaul Reubens, better known as Pee-wee Herman, may not have been able to come out to the public while he was still alive, but he was able to speak to fans about his sexuality posthumously through a documentary he participated in creating. I was out of the closet, and then I went back in the closet, Reubens said in the documentary. I wasnt pursuing the Paul Reubens career; I was pursuing the Pee-wee Herman career. He later admitted that he felt he had to keep his sexuality secret, even to close friends. I was secretive about my sexuality even to my friends [out of] self-hatred or self-preservation, Reubens said. I was conflicted about sexuality. But fame was way more complicated.Villads Raahauge JensenSee on InstagramDanish pro handballer Villads Raahauge Jensen, who also hosts the Hndbold - mere end bare en sport (Handball - more than just a sport), came out on Instagram in January by bravely writing, I am gay. Three words that should, in reality, be easy to say, but for many years, Ive been afraid to be open about it.Jensen also feared that they way people viewed him would change once they knew the truth about his sexuality. Onya Nurve dishes on 'breathgate' & her relationship with Arrietty: 'They were putting me through it'
Onya Nation... rise up!Onya Nurve has dominated the competition on RuPaul's Drag Race season 17 and she's hoping her impressive track record will help her secure a spot in the finale. Her talent speaks for itself, but after last week's heartbreaking episode, Nurve's fanbase has grown exponentially.Following her elimination, Arrietty left a very harsh mirror message telling Nurve to go brush her teeth, which came across as a low blow given Nurve's insecurity about her bad breath."It's been a wild ride, especially to have done it already and then to rewatch it with the world. It's emotional, especially the last episode. They were putting me through it on the show," Nurve tells PRIDE. See on Instagram Although it was very difficult for Nurve to relive that moment on TV, the star received an influx of tips and positive messages online."I literally cried about it. It's so amazing. Anything bad that happens, all the good outweighs that times a hundred."The cherry on top? Nurve and Arrietty have hashed things out and made amends since all of the drama went down last year."We have [made up]. That is my sister. That is my friend til the day I die, honey."Nurve is certainly gaining momentum as season 17 starts to wrap up. If she makes it to the end, she'd would be the first queen from Ohio to potentially snatch the crown."It would mean the world to me. I worked my entire life for something like this. It would just make everything that I've been through in my life worth it. I'm just so proud of myself regardless of what happens. I just feel like the world needs a winner like me."RuPaul's Drag Race airs Friday nights on MTV. To see the full interview with Onya Nurve, check out the video at the top of the page.

Suzie Toot says the 'RuPaul's Drag Race' cast 'got hate crimed' in Las Vegas
Now is not the time to be afraid.LGBTQ+ rights are under attack in the United States, but the queens of RuPaul's Drag Race are standing up at a time it's needed most. While celebrating the 1000th show of RuPaul's Drag Race Live, the top six competitors from Drag Race season 17 including Suzie Toot, Lana Ja'Rae, Lexi Love, Onya Nurve, Jewels Sparkles, and Sam Star took some pictures at a popular Las Vegas attraction and ran into a heckler."We did get hate crimed! Suzie Toot can't catch a break. We were taking photos in front of the Las Vegas sign and we had to cut everybody because we're famous and we have things to do.

  • Kelly Marie Tran In Control Freak
    WWW.PRIDE.COM
Kelly Marie Tran says all of her roles are queer including her latest in 'Control Freak'
Kelly Marie Tran says everything with a hint of a giggle in her voice. Theres a warmth and effervescence that radiates outward, even as she talks about the darkness inside her. Its a quality thats served her well throughout her career, whether thats in comedic roles like the upcoming queer comedy The Wedding Banquet, facing down intergalactic fascists in the Star Wars films, or taking on demons both literal and metaphorical in the new Hulu original horror film Control Freak. In the film, which is out now on the streaming service, Tran stars as Val, a Type-A self-help guru whos about to head out on a massive tour. Behind the scenes, something has to begin to itch at her literally. What starts as a minor itch on the back of Vals head begins to intensify, tormenting her as it develops an all-consuming sensation, paired with horrifying visions of insects and demons. As pressure both in career and marriage (Miles Robbins stars as her husband) mounts, she begins digging into the cause of her distress and unearths a terrifying (and demonic) family legacy hell-bent on consuming her. The film blends psychological and shocking body horror for an experience thats equal parts rattling and relatable. On the surface level, its a surprisingly gruesome tale of possession, but dig a little deeper and there are rich layers of thematic depth exploring generational trauma, the crushing pressure of perfection, and the dangers of avoidance. Its a potent and heady mix of ideas executed through the lens of a horror film and one that Tran says queer audiences will find plenty to relate to.PRIDE: I want to start with your character Val. I find her so relatable, not because of her perfection, although there are definitely things about her I found incredibly aspirational, but the vulnerability that kind of undergirds everything that shes doing. What about her made you really want to take on the role?KELLY MARIE TRAN: Theres this sort of fear of vulnerability and this idea that she cannot be honest with even her husband and the people in her life that care about her, because she feels as if she needs to present this image of a person. She needs to be strong, she needs to always be in control. She needs to be a person that has it all together, and that turns out very badly for her. But I think thats a very relatable desire or fear to feel that, if youre honest with people, that they wont love you, or that something terrible will happen. And it sort of continues to spiral. But for me, I think that was very initially something that stood out as something I felt that a lot of people, and I think a lot of women, can relate to, this idea that we need to feel like we look a certain way. Were skinny, but not too skinny. Were pretty, but not too pretty. Were smart, but were not going to challenge you. We have all these rules thats like the Barbie monolog lol but thats to say it does a really good job of conveying all the pressures that a woman might have in society. And I think Val very much is someone who feels that pressure daily.Absolutely. Im wondering then, for people who watch the film and may also see themselves in Val, is there anything that you hope that they walk away with from her journey? Its a scary thing to look at ourselves, really look at ourselves. And I think thats something that I have started to do over the last maybe five to 10 years of my life, because I started recognizing these sort of subconscious narratives that I was living by that were not necessarily true, and it was really hindering who I thought I could be and the things I thought I could do. Anytime you are able to get into that raw, vulnerable place, maybe in a therapy setting, or in a group therapy setting, or in a counseling setting where you have support, its so hard and so scary, but I feel like for me, it really helped me become the person I am, and it made my life better, even though when I was doing it I hated it. Val shares that for so much of that film, she doesnt want to address things and shes so avoidant. I dont think shes even conscious of how shes pushing away her husband, but shes definitely pushing him away.Youve touched on this a little bit, but is this something where you felt you could draw on personal experience to craft that part of your character?I come from a very working class family none of my familys in entertainment and then suddenly I was sort of in this world and kind of a public figure, and not understanding what that meant versus who I actually was. And I think that thats something Val is also dealing with. She has this, like, public facing part of herself. So, I think theres a lot of things that I drew from in my personal life. And I think I know people like Val, who on the outside are very successful and on the inside dont know how to love themselves. Its really hard to be around those types of people because they dont want to look at themselves. Val does this too. Shes more willing to blame other people than look at herself, and its a really sad way to live life. Its very Voldemort. This is not textually a queer film, but I do feel queer folks can relate with Vals struggle. Theres something analogous between her avoidance and what some LGBTQ+ individuals face when coming to terms with their identity. And her avoidance is how some queer folks cant share their truth with the people they are closest to. Thats definitely something I relate to in my own life. If Im a queer person, Vals a queer person so... I will speak for myself, and then Ill maybe speak from the lens of Val, but I think that its such a nuanced experience, and everyones coming out experience is so different. I will say Vals instinct to avoid, an instinct to hide, an instinct to project an image, as opposed to really recognizing that her own happiness is more important than what other people think about her are things that Ive had to deal with in my life. What Val has to reckon with throughout the whole movie is, Am I going to keep faking it, or am I finally going to recognize the parts of myself that I need to not only acknowledge but deal with and embrace? I dont want to spoil the film for people, but I think thats very analogous to a coming out experience. Theres so much shame in Val and theres so much shame projected by society onto queer people about acknowledging and embracing that part of your identity.Lets talk about that intense and gruesome final act. You go to such dark places with the performance in that moment, both mentally and physically. Talk to me about how you go to those places.Maybe this is sharing too much of myself, but Im like, I think that darkness is already...Ive got a wealth of darkness in here that Im just really pulling from. The human experience is so limitless. And, you know, theres a lot of things happening in the world that, unfortunately, its pretty easy to think about sad things and get into that place. I hate that. So the physicality was one thing, and the emotionality was another thing. What an experience. I had a lot to pull from, and I also had an incredible environment of creatives who were so open to making that environment comfortable for me to go there. So yeah, props to the crew who are the reason Im alive.Control Freak is now streaming on Hulu. Watch the trailer below.

Joe Locke shares his dream of playing 'a really macho straight man' in a movie
We've already watched Nicholas Galitzine bulk up for a new role, could Joe Locke be our next fave to leverage muscle to make movie history? The Heartstopper star addressed the topic recently when he swung by The Dylan Hour to chat with podcast host Dylan Mulvaney about everything from his career to his taste in men."I think your type is a little older, maybe a little taller, a little buffer," Mulvaney suggested."I like a man," Locke agreed, eventually admitting that his celebrity crush is, in fact, Henry Cavill. The two also took some time to discuss Lockes future acting aspirations. He shared that hes been spending time working with a personal trainer, despite previous fears that he would be "judged in that space" if he went to a gym to workout."I want to play a really macho straight man in an action film," he admitted. "My dream would be to get paid a shit ton of money to get really ripped. I just cant be bothered to organize it all." (@) This isnt the first time Locke has copped to such a dream. During a 2024 interview with Rolling Stone UK, he put a similar wish out into the world."Id love to be in an action film, do something really macho, but in my way, not necessarily the most macho way," he said at the time. In the same interview, he was asked if picking up the mantle of James Bond would do the trick, and he agreed. Now, talking to Mulvaney, he immediately shunned the idea."Not James Bond. I got caught saying I wanted to play James Bond bysomeone. An unnamed reporter. And it really annoyed me," Locke recalled. "You put those words in my mouth. I never said that. You said, 'Would you like to play James Bond?' and I said, 'Mm, whatever, sure.'"Whether theres a "macho" action role 007 or otherwise waiting for him down the line, right now, Locke has his sights on a more immediately achievable goal via hitting the gym. And its one his fans will certainly thank him for pursuing."Im trying to get my ass bigger this year," he admitted, "so maybe this is the year that I wear a Speedo."

At Three Years Old, Their Child Expressed a Trans Identity. What Did They Do?
Photo by Joseph StraussSubscribe nowAs a toddler, Daisy Morningstar often reached for her mothers clothes to play dress-up and loved anything bright and sparkly, like many other little girls do. But Daisy wasnt born into a society expecting this behavior from her. Assigned male at birth, Daisy was 3 years old when she expressed to her parents, Eli and Joanna, that she preferred to go by a girls name and wear feminine clothes.Eli and Joanna arent sure how their daughter, now 4, picked her new name, but they suspect she was inspired by Princess Daisy, one of her favorite characters in Mario Kart. While many parents wouldnt embrace their childs desire to present as transgender at such a young age, Eli and Joanna, who are both trans, have a personal understanding of the importance of respecting gender identity.Photo by Joseph StraussIf somebody is expressing something to you clearly and consistently, especially as a parent, you have two choices: Either you try to beat it out of them, or [you] accept them where they are, says Joanna, a 34-year-old who works in tech in Brooklyn, who remembers suppressing feelings of gender dysphoria as early as 8 years old.But can a preschooler really have that level of understanding when it comes to their gender identity? While some may be skeptical, Dr. Michele Hutchison, a pediatric endocrinologist at the University of New Mexico, who has treated around 600 transgender youth, says shes seen patients like Daisy before. I'd say a good 30% of my patients are very solid about their gender by the time they can speak, Dr. Hutchison, who started treating trans kids in Arkansas in 2017, told Uncloseted Media. And a 2008 study that reviewed 110 responses from trans adults in the United Kingdom found that a majority of participants recalled first becoming aware they were trans around age 8. Roughly a third of respondents36 peoplesay they were aware by age 6. And 11 respondents said they knew by age 4.Subscribe for LGBTQ-focused journalism.Daisy hanging out at her Brooklyn home. Photo by Joseph StraussSince Daisy chose her new name and told her parents she is a she-person, Eli and Joanna have allowed her to grow her bright blonde hair shoulder-length. Both Daisy and her 6-year-old sister, Sophia, who is cisgender, often wear dresses inspired by Elsa, their favorite character in Frozen. Joanna and Eli asked Daisys school to refer to her as Daisy and to use she/her pronouns, to which her teachers obliged with no issue. To some, these changes may seem drastic. But Joanna and Eli say theyve made a big difference to their childs wellbeing. Before Daisy presented as a girl, Jonna described her daughter as withdrawn and somber. She'd get angry. She would start viciously misgendering her sister; she would misgender me. And youre like, What's going on? Joanna recalls. Since changing her name, hair and clothes, Daisys behavioral issues have dramatically improved. In addition, Daisys teacherwho was originally worried about Daisy being held back from advancing a grade because she was so quiettold Joanna and Eli that she has become more talkative in class. After, she wasn't worried about that anymore, Eli told Uncloseted Media.Eli, Sophia, Joanna and Daisy. Photo by Joseph StraussTo Joanna and Eli, embracing Sophias cisgender identity is no different than supporting Daisy. Contrary to folks who may suggest Eli and Joanna are pressuring their child to adopt a trans identity, they feel they are granting both of their children the agency to live authentically. Its obvious that the kids aren't being pushed around by us. They know what they want to do, and the only question is whether they know it's an option, says Joanna.Given Eli and Joanna didnt begin transitioning until adulthood, they acutely understand the damage that would be done to Daisy if they rejected her gender identity. Eli says his earliest understanding of being transgender came in the first grade when he preferred to wear boys bathing suits during swimming lessons.Eli was raised by his aunt and uncle, a trans man, until age 8, after which he moved in with his mother and her partner. Though Eli had a trans role model in his childhood, it didnt make his coming out experience any easier. He remembers expressing feelings of gender dysphoria around age 5 or 6 and how it stressed out his uncle. Eli attributed his uncles stress to the same rhetoric we see now about transgender people of, You're going to convince them to join your lifestyle.Photo by Joseph StraussIn the current political climate, trans kids are under attack and their parents face accusationsthat arent supported by evidenceof pedophilia, grooming and indoctrination.President Trump recently signed an executive order aimed at limiting trans youths access to gender-affirming care. In addition, Trump has repeatedly and falsely suggested schools were indoctrinating students into becoming transgender and performing gender reassignment surgeries without parental consent. In October, Trump told a crowd of 20,000 at Madison Square Garden, We will get transgender insanity the hell out of our schools.[Joanna] is deeply scared to be a visibly trans woman out with children, Eli told Uncloseted Media. Because of what is said about us, the groomer rhetoric, I don't think she's wrong to be scared. Though Eli embraces Daisys gender identity, he isnt immune to the power of transphobic narratives. Looking back, he says, [My aunt and uncle may have] felt some anxiety about their kids being queer because it could reflect badly on them. So, when Daisy asserted that she is a girl, I certainly felt some of that come up for me.Eli takes solace in having seen his older daughter express a female gender identity before Daisy had. It helps a lot that we had Sophia first because of the absolute sameness of their starting to express their genders, and that gender being girl. I have less uncertainty and more clarity [with Daisy]. That is what self-expression looks like.According to Dr. Hutchison, Elis anxiety over Daisys gender identity is common in queer parents of trans children. I have had genderqueer and gender non-conforming parents who are not excited about the fact that their children are gender non-conforming because they themselves had to walk a difficult pathway. They don't want difficulty for their children. They want life to be easier for their child than it was for them, says Dr. Hutchison.Eli is inherently aware of the difficulties Daisy would face if she had parents who werent affirming. He remembers experiencing intense gender dysphoria himself and feeling trapped in a body against his will. "I didn't hit puberty until I was 11, 12, but there was this feeling of like I could stop this and [my mother] is just making me do it.Joanna, who grew up in a charismatic, Evangelical family, had no trans or queer role models growing up. The first time she can remember anything LGBTQ-related being discussed was on a drive with her father. He announce[d] that homosexuality is a problem. The quote I remember was, I'm not saying that it is, but you at least have to consider the possibility that HIV is punishment for sodomites. This was the environment that I grew up in, she says.In an email, Joannas dad told Uncloseted Media: I dont remember saying anything like this and certainly do not believe it now and never have Joanna and I do not speak regularly anymore, which saddens me greatly. After going through experiences of suppressing their trans identities, Eli and Joanna feel its critical that Daisy feels heard.Subscribe for LGBTQ-focused, accountability journalism. They reject a worldview in which being trans is cause for fear and are instead focused on Daisys well-being. It's my job to figure out how we get from where we are to where she wants to be in a way [that] is respectful and doesn't lock her into anything early. We're not crazy people, says Joanna. We're not doing anything that you couldn't reverse. For now, any physical intervention that Daisy may want in the future wouldnt be a consideration for many years, until Daisy is closer to puberty. Joannas emphasis on giving her youngest daughter room to grow and change is an important part of Daisys story. On a recent trip to the Brooklyn Childrens Museum for a pajama party night, Daisy sat with her father while decorating a plastic construction helmet with alphabet stickers, spelling out her name. But in addition to writing Daisy, she also chose to spell her birth name. For the remainder of the party, Daisy ran around in pink pajamas and matching sneakers, wearing a helmet labeled Isaac on one side and Daisy on the other. Daisy's been pretty genderfluid lately and sometimes prefers to present as a boy, other times as a girl, says Eli.Elis method of gently asking Daisy what she wants is the approach Dr. Hutchison suggests to parents of genderqueer children. I like to use the word affirming, which just means if the child comes to me and says, I'm a boy, you say, That's great. What would you like to wear today? What name do you want to go by? Give that child space to see who they are, she says.Philip Graham, professor emeritus of Child Psychiatry at University College London, is slightly more cautious. He suggests gentle discouragement to dress in the opposite sex to the one assigned at birth. I would just say, I'm not sure that's right, and see where you go from there, he told Uncloseted Media. If a child remains consistent in their gender identity by age 9 or 10, You've got a difficult decision to make with a trans child [about] whether you're going to embark on puberty blockers or not, Graham says.Though Graham and Dr. Hutchison suggest slightly different initial approaches to a child expressing a trans identity, their views converge on the matter of a childs agency. We have a somewhat inflated idea of the importance that parents have. Children are their own people; they make decisions, says Graham. Both Graham and Dr. Hutchison also agree on the importance of moving slowly and thoughtfully when it comes to healthcare for transgender youth. As somebody who works with children, we don't do any of this quickly. We take our time. We're very conscientious, we're very conservative, and we want to make sure we got it right, says Dr. Hutchison.Eli and Joanna are taking Daisys gender fluidity one day at a time. In the last few months, Daisy has often asked to be referred to with he/him and they/them pronouns andin many instanceshas asked to be called Isaac. There are times when she insists that her full name is Daisy Tulip Mac and Cheese. [4]-year-olds are silly, uninformed humans. [But] they're still humans. Queer art in the age of AI: Challenges, ethics and the future
Although the debate around AI and its potential effects on creative fields is relatively recent, the technology at the center of the controversy has been around since the 1950s.There are two main forms of AI; predictive and the currently more controversial, generative.According to IBM, generative AI refers to deep-learning models that can generate high-quality text, images, and other content based on the data they weretrained on.Also according to IBM, predictive AI involves using statistical analysis and machine learning (ML) to identify patterns, anticipate behaviors and forecastupcoming events. The current controversy with AI started in 2022 with the introduction of ChatGPT and other generative AI programs.People in creative fields such as writers and artists have worried that it would be used to replace their jobs and that the machines were being trained on their work without permission. In the film industry, there were concerns about AI being used to write scripts and scan an actors likeness. This ended up being a point of contention duringcontract negotiations for the WGA and SAG-AFTRA. Following strikes, both unions were able to get AI protections added. For a more local look at AI and art, Philadelphia Gay News spoke to Ben Deane-Schierloh, the Philadelphia-based artist behindThats Bearly Artfor his take.Deane-Schierloh was born in England and moved to Philadelphia in middle school. He earned a theatre degree from West Chester University, where he also met his husband. He currently does coaching and facilitating for software development teams as his day job.In 2019, he got into digital illustration.Illustration is something that has always been part of my life, Deane-Schierloh said. Ive been doodling on the sides of notebooks since before I can remember, but I think I told myself I couldnt really pursue anything as an artist because Im color blind. And what I learned was that with digital illustration tools, there are a lot of accessibility tools and devices that are able to sort of help with my shortcomings in terms of my disability in that regard. In 2023, four years later, Deane-Schierloh launched Thats Bearly Art after numerous people told him they would wear his designs on a T-shirt.He describes his designs as nerdy, silly, stupid, sex-positive and queer-friendly, and offers them as T-shirts and art prints. He also does commission work; anything from logos to NSFW portraits. One of the biggest opportunities hes gotten from Thats Bearly Art has beendesigning the 2024 Philadelphia Pride Logo. He is also set to design the 2025 logo.So what does this local artist think about AI and its effect on the art community? He feels conflicted about AI as a general concept in part because he has used it in the past for his day job.In terms of art, I think its a much more complicated question, Deane-Schierloh said.He continued, If AI were perfect, I dont have a problem with artists using it as a tool. Im someone that does digital illustration, so Im using a lot of tools already. There are certain things in illustration programs, like pen stabilizers or brush stabilizers, so that you get a more straight line or a cleaner stroke to your lines that youre drawing with. There are things like color fill, where it auto-fills the color for you that you select. And these things are used as tools to make life easier, right? They dont take away from the creativity that someone is expressing. He added that he thinks some people use AI as a tool to get a mockup of ideas or as inspiration, like theyd do with images from Pinterest. My problem with it is that AI is not perfect, and a lot of these AI machines are built using stolen art and art that people did not consent to having fed to a machine. And so even if youre using it for inspiration, the ethical questions make me uncomfortable. I dont think its something that you can really ethically use, because it was sourced from stolen work a lot of times, he explained.Between the two forms of AI, Deane-Schierloh believes generative AI is the more pressing issue and that predictive could be more helpful with less ethical concerns. In terms of art, I think its a much more complicated question.Ben Deane-SchierlohAlthough he would never use generative AI for illustrations, he would use it for things like SEO and captions.Theres a lot of tools that are like generative AI to come up with the right caption and that can be helpful, especially when youre trying to advertise your very human-created work in a world that is run by machines. And by that, I mean the social media algorithms, Deane-Schierloh said.Even though he feels that using AI this way is helpful, especially for metadata for his website that isnt seen, he admitted that if something is going to be seen by people, then hell add a human component like a silly hashtag that the AI wouldnt have added.I think [what is] more useful for a business owner is the predictive AI, [showing] ways to analyze the data that you have available to you. So for example, on my website, I spend a lot of time looking through reports of whos viewing my website. What pages are they looking at? What products are they looking at? Do they start going through the checkout and then abandon it halfway through? And thats all really useful data to look at, but youre drawing hypotheses based off of the data that youre seeing, Deane-Schierloh said. From what hes seen, other artists in the online space are generally either very upset or warning people about AI and showing people how to protect their art from it. Hes also seen a lot of the artists he follows online getting their art stolen by AI.Art theft online in and of itself isnt new, he explained. In the past, its mostly been small things like someone reposting art without credit or bigger things like companies using artwork without permission on clothing. And you know thats stolen by humans, AI is stolen by machines. So the actual theft piece itself is not new. Its just [that] machines are way better at doing it on a larger scale, and so it becomes harder to catch and stay aware of that, he concluded.Another issue he sees is people using AI instead of commissioning an actual artist.Deane-Schierloh said, I think Im lucky in a way, to be in the queer community, because we are a group of people that tend to be well informed about marginalized people and distrustful of big corporations and big entities, you know, just from a historical context. So I think a lot of queer folks are sort of naturally skeptical of AI and thus want to support the actual human creators instead, which is really a blessing. On the other side of this, hes also seen queer AI artists who are able to get thousands of followers because of how quickly theyre able to put out new content. He worries that for the queer community and humanity at large that AI will lead to homogenization. Deane-Schierloh pointed out that AI combines the inputs its given to create one output; and since queer people arent the majority, the majority of the inputs arent based on their experiences. He believes that over time, this will lead to outputs that are less queer. His bigger concern is that AI has already become too normalized. He pointed out that many people on Facebook and Instagram use AI-generated profile pictures and see no issue with it simply because everyone around them does the same. Even those who might have otherwise paid for a commissioned portrait often opt for AI-generated images instead. No one then is getting a custom profile picture illustrated by a queer employee or a queer artist that they know, or any artist that they know, that has that human connection, that human experience, to it, he said.Instead of using an app for a profile picture, hed rather be able to talk about finding an artist he connected with based on shared interests. So if Im talking to my friends [and] they go, Oh, I love your profile picture. Thats really cool. I would much prefer to be able to tell them all the cool human stuff about human connection. Instead of Yeah, I took the phone in my face and submitted it to an app. So I hope people recognize the impact and the importance of art on the human experience, he continued.Deane-Schierloh would love to see regulation for AI put in place, but worries it might be too late for some things. The amount of data that these machines are analyzing and taking as input is just so vast already. How do you fix that? You know its already been done. How do you remove from an AI machine learning millions and millions of stolen pieces of artboard once theyre already in there? So I think its really messy, and I think its going to be messy, but that doesnt mean its not needed. I think a lot of these AI companies need to be held accountable, he said.I would love to see some regulation [where] you must provide details of the artwork that was scraped to create your machine learning. I would love to see financial compensation for artists whose work was stolen. That one seems like thats a stretch, but it shouldnt be, and I would love to see more regulations in place to prevent this. With no regulations, he sees a future where artists take steps, like some are doing now, to make their art unreadable to AI.Deane-Schierlohs overall message to people is to support queer artists, especially small and local ones. You know, there are people near you with talent and with expertise and skills, and those people want to be seen as much as the ones that are popular, as much as the machines that are being used. And so I encourage folks to look in your own communities, for people that can provide the things youre looking for. I think oftentimes youll find them. This story is part of the Digital Equity Local Voices Fellowship lab through News is Out. Meet the cast of new lesbian dating show 'You Hauled'
Move in or move on!Even in 2025, nearly all dating shows predominantly focus on straight, cisgender, and white cast members vying for love. Mainstream networks and streamers are slowly making some progress with all-queer seasons of Are You The One? on MTV, The Ultimatum: Queer Love on Netflix, For the Love of DILFs on OUTtv, and The Boyfriend on Netflix. You Hauled is a brand-new queer dating show entering the scene with a premise that leans into the stereotype of lesbians falling in love quickly and moving in together (with a U-Haul) right away. This lesbian dating series with the brilliant tagline "move in or move on" was created by Tori Davis with executive producers Davone Madison and PJ. This first season also features relationship expert Dr. Picolya McCall-Robinson, otherwise known as Dr. P., to help cast members navigate these relationships.Scroll through to learn more about the contestants on You Hauled coming soon to YouTube.AlexisSee on InstagramInstagram: @alexis.hicksAlexis says in the You Hauled intro video:"'How did I come out?' What a juicy question. For me, it started with subtle things that I would post on my social media, like queer quotes, or photos of sexy women that could easily imply that I liked women. But it wasn't until 2022 [that I came out,] when I started dating my very serious girlfriend at the time. When I posted photos of us on my Instagram like, boom. That's when the world found out. Distant family, distant friends, people that I grew up with who I maybe wouldn't communicate on a regular basis, [they all] now knew that I was into women.""It really wasn't uncomfortable for me because I've always been confident in who I am. But I was just at a point where I was ready to put it on blast, so to speak. And I also had a lot of support from my father. He and I are very close, and he just supported me wholeheartedly from the jump. So that was amazing, and that definitely gave me a lot of confidence just to feel like full, and the choices that I was making as it relates to how I projected that onto the rest of the world.""And I feel so validated in my love choices, and even helping to destigmatize within our Black community. Because there is still some [discomfort] when it comes to same-sex relationships. I feel like, by being my most authentic self, I'm doing my part in an authentic way. Love is love. I mean, women are amazing. I feel very confident in the choices that I make. I hope my next relationship with a woman will be my best one."Big KiSee on InstagramInstagram: @yu_nosyhuhBig Ki says in the You Hauled intro video:"I pretty much always dressed masculine. Always came with that, you know, big dick energy. I think my mom had a clue at a very young age for me. But, nosy as she is, she decided to go to my room one day, went through my closet I think I was about 14 or 15 years old at the time. She went through my closet [and] found some love letters from a girl, and also found my strap.""After that, she ain't ask no questions. She pretty much just accepted it for what it was. She understood the assignment. She knew that, at this point, 'I'm raising a stud.' So, yeah, I ain't really have to come out to my family. I've always, like I said, dressed masculine, so they kind of knew. They just didn't have that confirmation."And best believe she told everybody. She told everybody: 'Ki is gay. Y'all better not try her. Y'all better not say nothing about my baby.' But yeah, that's pretty much how my family found out I was gay. Found my strap, man. That's why you've got to mind your business. Stay on your own business."Cee CeeSee on InstagramInstagram: @sillyassceeceeCee Cee says in the You Hauled intro video:"7th grade year, my math teacher wrote on the board: homosexual, bisexual, and heterosexual. At the time, I'm still figuring things out. So I just blurted out, 'I'm bisexual, y'all!' Now, keep in mind I'm at a hood school, so everybody was like, 'What?' Like, 'Uhhh.' Like, 'Mmm-mmm, we ain't with that.' The next day, I came to school, and everybody was bullying me.""But, eventually, they got on my wave, on my line. Like, they accepted it for what it was. ''Cause I was cool as hell, and I'm cool within the school or whatever. So they stopped bullying me because, otherwise like, fight me, you feel me? But by the time I went 9th grade, I knew, like, 'Yeah, I only like girls.' Hell, I've been liking girls since I was in kindergarten. I think that's when I seen Jessica Rabbit. Yeah, I've been liking girls.""Now how I came out to my mom was a whole different story. She took me to see my girlfriend's basketball game. Now, keep in mind, my first girlfriend was a stud. And no, I don't date studs no more. I was just trying to figure myself out. But yeah, she had seen me and a girl like writing little signs and stuff across the floor, and she was like, 'Come on, let's go, take it up. It's a wrap.' And she accepted it, but she was just like, she ain't buying me no boy clothes. So what I did I got a job, got the boy clothes, got the hoes, you feel me? But, yeah, that's how I came out. Now everybody knows little gay-ass Cee Cee."Dope EnergySee on InstagramInstagram: @_dopeenergyDope Energy says in the You Hauled intro video:"It's your girl Dope Energy from You Hauled. How did I come out? Oooh, girl. Okay, so let's talk about the fact that I didn't even know I was gay, or at least I didn't know what it meant. I remember in 3rd grade, coming home, and telling my sister that this girl named Kendall was giving me a tingly feeling in my no-no spot. That's what we called it: no-no.""And I was like hunting on my friends You know, we play house. Everybody play house. But it wasn't until like 6th grade that I made my official come-out debut, [and] came out to my parents. And boy, do I regret it, okay?! The shit was you would've thought I had committed the seven deadly sins, girl. I'm talking about having to read the Bible for 5 hours before dinner. I was no longer allowed to my uncle and aunt's house, and my girl cousins, because they was like a pastor and stuff.""You know how super religious families can be, but it didn't keep me from being myself [or] wanting to go back in the closet. I came out, and I stayed out. I'm gay. I'm here to stay unapologetically. It was a little bumpy road, but I was able to discover myself. I went through all my little phases: stud, fem, and then I discovered that I was androgynous, you know? But yeah, I know I don't really have a long, drawn-out story. That's pretty much how it happened, girl."KeoSee on InstagramInstagram: @yothatskeoKeo says in the You Hauled intro video:"Everybody wanna know: what's your coming out story? All right, I'll tell y'all mine. OK, so you know your girl poetic. I love music, you know, I'm an artist. Come on now. So I had to hit them with a poem, you know what I'm saying? So that's what I did. Being from Memphis, we're all about art. Come on now, y'all know this.""So, I hit them with a poem. I was like, alright, let me get my thoughts and feelings out. Let me bake that up in a poem, whatever go ahead and let it out. I wrote the poem about how I was feeling and stuff like that. [And then] hit up my best friend, like, 'Hey, I'm going through some stuff. I want to talk to you about some stuff. What time you got we could talk?'""We set a time for us to talk, went to the dorm room, and we talked. I read the poem to her and, you know, I did cry. I did, you know, talk to her, and she was like, I'm there for you as a friend and all that, and we're still best friends to this day, you know what I'm saying? Both of my best friends [since] 6th grade.""And then, my mom, I FaceTime her, and I was like, 'Hey mom, I need to talk to you about something. I need your undivided attention. And then [I] read her the same poem through FaceTime, and then we had our little heart-to-heart moment and stuff like that.""My mom and my best friend, to this day, like I love her or whatever, and she just had to come to terms with what I had told her and stuff like that. Learn to accept me, and love me, no matter what because I'm her daughter, you know? I'm the only child on my mom's side. My dad got like 12 kids. But, you know, on my mom's side. But, yeah, that's how it was."OmoSee on InstagramInstagram: @missomo.xoOmo says in the You Hauled intro video:"What's up y'all? My name is Omo, cast member of You Hauled. The first question that I've been tasked to answer is: 'How did you come out?' And a quick coming out story. So, I came out later on in life. I was 23 years old, and I had met this girl of my dreams I thought. She was a stud, and we hit it off real, real bad. Anyway, I was like, you know, getting to the age where, in my culture, we want to bring people home. So I was like, 'Look, this is who I am.'""Well, let me backtrack. I called my mom, and I was like, 'Ma, I'm gay.' And she was like, 'Finally, you came out.' And I was like, 'Alright, cool, whatever.' So then I called my dad and my stepmom, and that was a whole different story, but now we're good. After I did all that, I went on Facebook and just made a post. I was like, 'Some people call me Omo, the homo, this, that, and the third I don't care. Look, I like girls, and that's what it's gonna be.' And then people just came out with an amazing amount of support. And that's that, the rest is history."QSee on InstagramInstagram: @datninjaqQ says in the You Hauled intro video:"How did I come out? Yo, I didn't even get a chance to come out, you feel me? Allegedly, one of the homies from the block had told my mom, and then my mom had told me that one of my best friends from high school had called her up and told her Yeah, some bullshit, right?""The same best friend that my mom told me about, had called me up on speakerphone with all our friends at her crib. It was like, 'Yeah, Q, you gay.' Mind you, this is 04. Like, in 2004, being gay wasn't cool, even though I'm not trying to be cool because I'm already cool. Anyway, moral of the story is: I never got the chance to come out. That was stolen from me, you feel me? And I come from a very religious background like, straight bullshit."SSee on InstagramInstagram: @_sozaeS says in the You Hauled intro video:"What's up y'all? It's your girl, S, with You Hauled. 'How did I come out?' I never actually did, so that's something that I never really cared to talk about for real. I never had an actual sit-down or anything like that with anybody in my family. I kind of just always knew. I always dressed like a boy, wore boy clothes, had a masculine kind of presence. It wasn't really that hard to figure out since I was a little.""I think that is something that I just am, right? I didn't think twice about it. I didn't have any second thoughts about it. It was just, 'That's just me. If you rock with it, you're rocking with it. If you're not, hit rocks.' So, Yeah, that's my coming out story."WhitneySee on InstagramInstagram: @1xwheatWhitney says in the You Hauled intro video:"I had never told my family I was like into girls. But, of course, growing up, they suspected it because I played basketball. As soon as I touched the ball, they were like, 'You're gay.' But they couldn't confirm it. So, I'm like, 'I ain't gay, I ain't gay.' I went to get my first girlfriend, and I brought her home. One weekend, I was like, 'Yo, whatever you do My family doesn't know I'm gay. So you can't be gay. You can't act gay. You can't smell gay. Don't talk gay. Like, nothing. Don't even hug me.'""When I'm going to the club that night, I came back home, and the whole ride home I mean, we drunk too. She's talking and talking, right? She ain't about to do nothing, blah blah blah. We wind up pulling up in the yard. She's like, 'Oh, we're especially home now. I know you ain't doing that in your in front of your mama's house.' I'm like, 'Shit, snatch your ass over, 'cause I know me. You gonna talk that talk. I'm gonna, I'm gonna do what I do.'""We wind up just going in the front seat, and I wind up looking at the door. And I just see close real quick, and I'm like, 'Oh shit.' At this point, I'm like There's no fucking way we're going back in this house. Like, we're driving to the nearest bridge, going off that motherfucker. We're going back to Northern Virginia. I don't give a damn. We go to space, but we're not going back in this house. I'm like, 'Yo, my mom is gonna trip.' So, we go in the house, and my mom didn't even really say nothing, which was scary as fuck for me.""The next day, one of my brothers called me like, 'Yo, what's good with Shorty with you? She fine as hell, put me, put me down, put me on.' My brother, we're all headed to the family reunion. He's literally coming off of a highway exit and comes on the highway right beside me and my ex. He's like, 'Pull up. Yo, answer your phone.' I'm like, 'Oh fuck.'""I answered the phone and I pretty much just had to tell him at this point, 'cause he's trying to talk to a girl. And, yeah, he pretty much called my mom after that. And then my mom called me like, 'You got something to tell me?' I was like, 'No.' After that, I just was gay. I just came home with my girlfriends after that. 'Cause I was like, I mean, I know they know now, so."XiomaraSee on InstagramInstagram: @prettytomb0yXiomara says You Hauled intro video:"How did I come out? Honestly, I didn't come out. My brothers already knew. Everyone in my high school knew. I popped out with girlfriends. The only thing was, I had to tell my mom. And when I did, of course, she was flabbergasted. But, essentially, I didn't have to come out. Apparently, I just look gay."

Trump administration scrubs 'Golden Girls' star's Marine Corps contributions in latest DEI purge
Among the myriad ways the Trump administration is working hard to dismantle the federal government, the Defense Department seems to be purging people who are not cis, straight, white men from their website, including iconic Golden Girls actress Bea Arthur. As part of President Donald Trumps efforts to roll back DEI initiatives (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion), the Department of Defense (DoD) has deleted Arthurs trailblazing contributions to the Marine Corps.Along with the accomplishments of other female veterans, the webpage dedicated to Arthur was deleted with only her enlistment photo remaining on the site and a 404 page not found warning connected to the former link, The Pink News reports. (@) Long before gay audiences fell in love with Arthur when she played boundary-pushing, strong female characters first on Maude and then on Golden Girls, Arthur became one of the first women to join the U.S. Marine Corps Womens Reserve. Arthur then known as Bernice Frankel joined the Marines in 1943 during World War II, just five days after they began recruiting women, according to the National World War II Museum.Arthur served as a typist at the Marine Corps headquarters in Washington D.C. before becoming a truck driver and dispatcher at the Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, between 1944 and 1945 and then left the military at the rank of staff sergeant. The Internet Archive database shows that the "404 warning" on the DoD website's page for Arthur was there back as far back as March 17, but it appears that at some point today, as criticisms have been leveled at the government by fans, Arthurs page has been returned, and her history within the U.S. Marine Corps is viewable by the public again.Arthur isnt the only famous name whose contributions were scrubbed, legendary baseball player Jackie Robinson, who was the first Black player in Major League Baseball, was also removed from the DoD website. And because anything with the word gay in it apparently cant be allowed to stay on the DoD website, photos of the Enola Gay aircraft that dropped an atomic bomb on Japan are also marked for deletion by the administration, alongside photos of the first women to pass Marine infantry training, the Associate Press reports.

  • The White Lotus Just Took Wild To The Extreme And The Internets Reactions Are Everything

The White Lotus brotherly love plot sends the internet in a frenzy again
SPOILER ALERT through The White Lotus, season 3, episode 6.To nobodys shock, the third season of Mike Whites The White Lotus has taken us on a wild ride. It took a moment for the show to take off, but the sixth episode featured the bang heard around the world and has left the internet in a total frenzy.A few weeks ago, Harry Potter fans lost it when Jason Isaacs disrobed (though, to be fair, they were as equally shocked and outraged when Daniel Radcliffe did it on stage for Equus. Then, last week, in the shows fifth episode, on-screen brothers Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) and Lochlan (Sam Nivola) shared a kiss, which prompted a mass of people clutching their pearls at the incestuous content. (It didnt seem to be as big of a deal when it was done with a straight couple on Game of Thrones, but I digress.)Well, if anyone felt uncomfortable with the kiss in the fifth episode, it had nothing on what happened in the sixth. After the night that led to the kiss with Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon) and Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood), Saxon and Lochlan piece together what happened. The flashes see Lochlan and Chloe having sex, but also reveal that Lochlan is jerking Saxon off. Lochlan realizes what happens at the end of the episode during a meditation with his sister Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook). Now judging by the reactions the internet is back in a frenzy. Scroll through for some of our favorite reactions, and be sure to tune in on Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO to see where the rest of this season takes us.
