Right-wingers want to replace Pride Month with Veterans Month. Theres just one problem
Anti-LGBTQ+ users of the microblogging social platform X are arguing that Pride Month in June should be replaced with a month honoring U.S. military veterans. But in responding favorably to this idea, most of the platforms supportive commenters revealed that they care far more about antagonizing LGBTQ+ people than about honoring veterans. Most of the resulting commenters also seem unaware that November is already designated asNational Veterans and Military Families Month, since it includes Veterans Day (which occurred on November 11 this year). May is also designated as National Military Appreciation Month. Related Conservatives are so envious of Pride Month that they introduced a bill for Natural Family Month The queerphobic discussion began on X when the account @MAGAVoice asked users (in a now-deleted post), Would you support abolishing Pride Month and replacing it with Veterans Month? They followed up on the idea with another post reading, Raise your hand if you support abolishing Pride Month and replacing it with Veterans Month.Raise your hand if you support abolishing Pride Month and replacing it with Veterans Month pic.twitter.com/O2MsZekZqT MAGA Voice (@MAGAVoice) November 8, 2025 Never Miss a Beat Subscribe to our newsletter to stay ahead of the latest LGBTQ+ political news and insights. Lane Brown (@lanebrown_3) November 12, 2025 The commenters also might not realize that, according to a 2015RAND Corporationreport,6.1%of U.S. service members identified as LGBT, and a separate 2016 Department of Defense survey found a similar figure of5%identifying as LGBT. As such, May and November both honor these queer military members too. While most militaries enforce rigid uniformity among servicemembers, many queer military members and veterans celebrate their LGBTQ+ identities, both to demonstrate the pride of living in a country where people are (theoretically) free to express their authentic selves and to demonstrate the achievements of queer people who have overcome historical institutional anti-LGBTQ+ bias to serve their countrys military.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

10 standout gay sex scenes in movies and TV shows from 2025 (so far)
These gays they're telling queer stories through sex scenes! All tea, no shade: LGBTQ+ representation in mainstream media took quite a significant dip in 2025. Perhaps even a full nosedive, one could say. After so many recent years full of queer and trans representation in major movies and TV shows, there simply wasn't as much to see this year particularly for non-white actors and characters.Queer people still do the damn thing to find one another and celebrate the representation that we do get at each point in time, no matter what. The good news is that the gay sex scenes we did get in film and television from 2025 were pretty bold, hot, or at least interesting and new. So, without further ado, let's explore 10 gay male sex scenes that stood out this year (so far).Agustin Della Corte and Gleb Abrosimov 'Olympo'From the same producers as lite, Netflix launched a new queer-inclusive Spanish series in 2025, Olympo, featuring lots of sex, drama, tensions, and high stakes in its first season. The first episode of Olympo hits viewers with a graphic and fiery sex scene between Agustin Della Corte as Roque (a gay rugby player) and Gleb Abrosimov as Diego (a somewhat closeted swimmer). It's interesting to see how the scene doesn't necessarily come across as gratuitous nudity and sex, instead building up to that moment and actually advancing our understanding of these characters from the very beginning.Where to watch: Netflix.Agustin Della Corte and Juan Perales 'Olympo'Roque loves to have sex, and not a single Olympo viewer complains about Corte showing some more skin in the series. In the interest of not spoiling too much, the gay rugby player goes on to have a few sex scenes with a teammate named Sebas (played by Juan Perales).Just trust us on this one: You're going to enjoy watching how the dynamics between Roque and Sebas progress over the course of this first season.Where to watch: Netflix.Wilson Cruz and Christian Vincent 'Noah's Arc'One of the most exciting revivals/reboots of 2025 came in the form of Noah's Arc: The Movie, which reunited the show's fan-favorite characters as they navigated parenthood, aging, love, and friendship. The Paramount+ film includes plenty of steamy moments for the fans to get excited about, but the biggest shout-out must go to this tender and still sexy intimate scene between Dr. Junito Vargas (played by Wilson Cruz) and Ricky (played by Christian Vincent).Where to watch: Paramount+.Dylan O'Brien and James Sweeney 'Twinless'James Sweeney directed, wrote, and starred in Twinless as a character named Dennis. The protagonist's love interest, Roman, is played by Dylan O'Brien in what could be considered his most naked movie to date. The plot of Twinless is funny, quirky, and odd, with the film receiving mostly positive reviews from viewers. An equal amount of hype has been dedicated to GIFs and clips of O'Brien and Sweeney having sex in the film, which probably says it all if you were wondering about how steamy those scenes get.Where to watch: Available on-demand via Apple TV+.Jonathan Groff and Karan Soni 'A Nice Indian Boy'Karan Soni plays Naveen, the protagonist, in A Nice Indian Boy a gay rom-com that features queer superstar Jonathan Groff playing Jay, Naveen's love interest.Directed by Roshan Sethi (Soni's real-life partner), this film gets 10s across the board for how it explores a queer love story in a time like 2025. First and foremost, A Nice Indian Boy has jokes and is legitimately funny. The movie is also incredibly heartwarming and is considered by many to be safe enough for a queer person to watch with family members without feeling any stress or anxiety. With that said, A Nice Indian Boy is also uncompromising in its queer references and sensibilities, and includes a steamy intimate scene between Naveen and Jay.Where to watch: Hulu.Magnus Juhl Andersen and Nina Rask 'Sauna'Magnus Juhl Andersen plays Johan a gay man who lives in Copenhagen, Denmark, and has his fair share of sexual escapades in Sauna. As the movie progresses, Johan meets a trans gay man named William (played by Nina Rask), who challenges him to feel more deeply about connecting with another person than he did before.Sauna is a bold film that explores a range of queer and trans perceptions, presentations, and private desires.Where to watch: Available on-demand via Apple TV+.Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Nivola 'The White Lotus' Season 3Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Nivola play two brothers in the Ratliff family featured on The White Lotus season 3. The incestuous dynamics between their characters named Saxon and Lochlan, respectively are established right away in the first episode. The relationship between them only gets weirder and less familial over the course of the season, until a sex scene does end up happening during an unexpected episode. To be clear, this sex scene doesn't make the list for being good, or hot, or something that viewers loved to see. It makes the list precisely for being wild, and controversial, and a zeitgeist moment in queer pop culture for 2025.Where to watch: HBO Max.Diego Calva and Jacob Elordi 'On Swift Horses'On Swift Horses is a very horny-on-main film. This is particularly true for two of the male characters, Julius Walker (played by Jacob Elordi) and Henry (played by Diego Calva).Julius is a Korean War veteran introduced in the movie as Lee Walker's (played by Will Poulter) brother, whereas Henry is a con man who latches onto Julius both literally and figuratively. Overall, On Swift Horses "gallops toward queer classic territory," as noted by Taylor Henderson in a story for Out about the film.Where to watch: Netflix.Russell Tovey and Tom Blyth 'Plainclothes'Carmen Emmi's debut feature film, Plainclothes, is a tense, thrilling, and titillating story set in the 1990s about an undercover cop, Lucas (played by Tom Blyth), who is assigned to hunt down and imprison queer men cruising in public spaces. One day, Lucas comes across Andrew (played by Russell Tovey) during one of his shifts and let's just say that it's hard for these men to resist one another from that point forward.Where to watch: Available on-demand via digital stores.Alexander Skarsgrd and Harry Melling 'Pillion'Pillion centers on Alexander Skarsgrd playing a bike gang leader named Ray who develops a BDSM relationship with a submissive named Colin (played by Harry Melling). The film, written and directed by Harry Lighton, is opening in theaters this November in the United Kingdom. U.S. viewers who didn't get to see the movie in its festival screenings will have to wait for A24 to release it in theaters in early 2026. But the wait will be worth it we can promise you that!Where to watch: Early 2026 in U.S. movie theaters. Premieres November 28 in U.K. movie theaters.

Woman accuses Trumps Attorney General nominee of raping her as a teen
A woman says former Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz (FL), Trumps first pick for U.S. attorney general, statutorily raped a homeless 17-year-old girl twice at a party when he was 34 and then paid her $400. Her story affirms details from a report released by a House Ethics Committee last December, though the report said the girl hid her age and that Gaetz didnt know she was a minor. Gaetz has denied any wrongdoing. The womans attorney Laura B. Wolf recently told The New York Timesthat her client met Gaetz during her junior high school year in December 2016. At the time, she lived with her parent in a homeless shelter, worked at McDonalds, and met Gaetzs friend, Joel Greenberg, through a sugar dating website. The woman said Gaetz schtupped her on a pool table or air hockey table during a party at his home, and had sex with her twice while he was on cocaine, then paid her $400 (which helped her purchase braces). Related Megyn Kelly argues maybe Jeffrey Epstein wasnt a pedophile because his child victims were teens The age of consent in Florida is 18. While a 16 or 17-year-old can legally consent to sex with someone between the ages of 16 and 23, Gaetz was 34 at the time of the alleged incident, which would violate the states statutory rape law.Power imbalances can be age, but they can also be financial, Wolf said. My client had little economic security, which allowed for financial leverage over her. Gaetz resigned from Congress days before the report came out, and withdrew as Trumps attorney general nominee after its release, but denied the reports findings, accussing the committee of unfairness. The Justice Department refused to pursue criminal charges against Gaetz. He hasnt been legally charged with any crime related to the report or the womans testimony. Gay Russians are fleeing to Argentina to escape Putins harsh anti-LGBTQ+ regime
Its kind of random, said Anton Floretskii, a gay Russian migr at Buenos Aires Pride celebration last week. The 29-year-old wore a tank top reading My boyfriend is gay, and while taking in the remarkable sightfor a young and gay Russian like him tens of thousands of LGBTQ+ revelers, celebrating without fear. Related LGBTQ+ people march against Javier Milei & for Pride in Buenos Aires this weekend Argentina was never on the map, he told The New York Times.Floretskii is among a growing group of gay Russian migrs fleeing Vladimir Putins authoritarian regime, threatened with arrest for living authentically, or conscription to the war in Ukraine and in some nightmarish cases, both. Subscribe to our Newsletter today Crossing the border may provide a temporary escape for some Russians, but neighboring countries like Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Armenia dont afford legal protections for LGBTQ+ people. Comparitively, emigration to Western countries comes with a high price in terms of time and increasing restrictions. At the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine war in 2022, Floretskiicame across a shared Google Doc, circulated by other gay Russians, listing potential destinations for those choosing to flee.Argentina checked a lot of boxes. For one, the Argentine Constitution, adopted in 1853, states that it welcomes all men in the world who want to live on Argentine soil. The country offers strong protections for LGBTQ+ rights, and was the first in Latin America to adopt marriage equality and gender self-determination.They have immigrant rights in the Constitution, said Giordani Taldyki, 27,another new arrival to Argentina. I was like, OK, I really like it.Argentina also has a long history as a destination for immigrants, from Eastern European Jews in the 19th and 20th centuries to Russian political dissidents abandoning the collapsing Soviet Union in the 1990s. (Not to mention Nazis fleeing prosecution following World War II.)A wave of gay Russians arriving in Argentina accompanies the over 120,000 immigrants fleeing Putins regime.Russians were coming, like, coming and coming and coming, said Siberian Anna Sokolova, 43, who runs a dog training business in Buenos Aires with her wife. It was like a snowball.Mariano Ruiz, director of an LGBTQ+ asylum group, said his organization has helped over 1,800 gay and trans Russians enter the country since Putins invasion of Ukraine.I can be a trans girl, I can be myself, and I dont feel judged, said Alisa Nikolaev, 24, who grew up in Siberia and moved to Argentina last year. Its the most freedom I have ever seen, said Marat Murzakhanov, 23, another Russian reveler at Buenos Aires Pride. We want to stay here. While the comparisons between Russia and Argentina are night and day for Murzakhanov and his compatriots, LGBTQ+ Argentines do face an obstacle in the countrys unpredictable right-wing leader, Javier Milei, who has pandered to the countrys conservative majority in his own Make Argentina Great Again crusade. After originally courting the LGBTQ+ community with a libertarian message, Milei took a hard right turn following Donald Trumps return to the White House, shocking Argentinians with a hateful message at the Davos Economic Forum in January.Gender ideology constitutes plain and simple child abuse. They are pedophiles, he said of queer people and their allies.Last weeks Pride march in Buenos Aires was a celebration as well as a denunciation of Milei and his policies. It was also a demonstration of public protest not seen in the new Russian migrs home country. When I told my parents I am moving to Argentina, they were like, Where is that? said Floretskii, the young man in the My boyfriend is gay tank top. How 'Now You See Me's cast 'holds space' for social justice
A little magic and chosen family could save the world. At least thats at the heart of Now You See Me: Now You Dont, the third installment in the franchise about magicians who use prestidigitation to take down the wealthy and powerful. In this case, the original Four Horsemen team up with scrappy newcomers played by Justice Smith, Ariana Greenblatt, and Dominic Sessa to stop Rosamund Pikes deliciously craven diamond heiress, Veronika Vanderberg. The film is a Robin Hood story with the magicians holding the one percent accountable and giving back to the rest of the population; several cast members, including Jesse Eisenberg, Dave Franco, and Pike, tell Out. And Now You See Me: Now You Dont, from director Ruben Fleischer, refreshingly skewers Veronikas family legacy of exploiting workers and the planet while mining for baubles and posing as philanthropists.A heist that involves retrieving a precious stone from Veronika is the films central plot, but the Horsemen, played by Eisenberg, Franco, Isla Fisher, and Woody Harrelson, create an extended family with young magicians Charlie (Smith), June (Greenblatt), and Bosco (Sessa), whove already made a life together in a hidden apartment.I really like the theme of found family in this film, says Smith, the queer star of I Saw the TV Glow and Genera+ion. Ariana Greenblatt, Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, Jesse Eisenberg in 'Now You See Me: Now You Don't'Courtesy LionsgateWe made a habit of making sure that the three of us Ariana and Dom, whenever you saw our characters on screen, that we only had love for each other, we only supported each other, Smith says. Because these three characters they do not have to be together. They choose to be together and celebrate each other's differences. And I do feel like there is a parallel to how we are in the [queer] community ofjust coming together and, like, taking care of each other.Though Greenblatts June has a home with Charlie and Bosco, a sisterhood forms when she meets Fishers escape artist Henley. A thread throughout Now You See Me points out the male-centric world of magic, where women have long been relegated to being props. June and Henley escape those chains. It's just exciting to be in an environment and play a character in a very male-dominated field. And I think she [June] really found her place, and she took up space, and she did what she does best. And she holds space. She actually holds space, Greenblatt (Barbie, In the Heights) says. It's really important for me to pick characters that if a young girl is watching at home or watching me, she feels empowered and inspired, no matter how cliche those words might get. Rosamund Pike in 'Now You See Me: Now You Don't'Courtesy LionsgateThroughout her career, Pike has played a few of films great villains, including as the ultimate cool girl in Gone Girl and as a lesbian swindling the elderly in I Care a Lot. In Now You See Me, and with a diabolical South African accent, she adds Veronika to that list. The Pride & Prejudice star touches on the films timely theme of the hypocrisy of white feminism. To do justice to this brilliant franchise, you have to give them a villain who's kind of worthy of it and complex enough. And it's about magic. It's about truth and illusion. And I think if you can present a villain who also deals in truth and illusion, then that's interesting, Pike says. A woman who presents one face to the world, but in reality, is something different, then that sort of lends itself to the themes of the film. I quickly latched on to the fact that I wanted Veronica to be the kind of woman who thinks she's a feminist, thinks she's doing in good service for other women, and in fact, is doing none of that. The film is a popcorn movie that makes people think, even if theyre not aware of it, she adds. There's a fervor that ties in with something they intrinsically feel. And it's a pleasure to watch these [wealthy, powerful] people fall. And I wanted to create a villain that would be a pleasure for people to watch. Now You See Me: Now You Dont is in theaters on November 14.

Audience laughs at Donald Trump as he tries to explain why he cant speak coherently anymore
GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump has shown an inability to answer direct questions over the course of his 2024 campaign, often jumping from one subject to another and to another and another and another without finishing a complete sentence on any of them. When he was called out for this rambling during his appearance at the Economic Club of Chicago yesterday, he explained that its a move he calls The Weave, and the audience started laughing at him. Related Former Trump admin officials warn his alarming cognitive decline has accelerated Donald Trump hasnt faced much criticism for his inability to talk coherently this year, with many larger media organizations often paraphrasing his rants to make it appear like he had a point in a process that has been called sanewashing. But live audiences are noticing it. Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. Subscribe to our Newsletter today He sat down yesterday with Bloomberg News Editor-in-Chief John Micklethwait to discuss topics like immigration, tariffs, and corporate policy. Micklethwait repeatedly tried to get Donald Trump to directly answer his questions instead of rambling about the random thoughts in his head, pressing him again and again to bring him back to the topic at hand. In one notable interaction, Micklethwait tried to ask Donald Trump about the U.S. dollars status as the international reserve currency, and Donald Trump started rambling. Micklethwait interrupted him and tried to get him to talk about the dollar. You gotta be able to finish a thought because its very important, Donald Trump said. You know, this is big stuff were talking about, you cant go that quick-Youve gone from the dollar to [French President Emmanuel] Macron, Micklethwait responded, exasperated. So let me just tell ya, I said, no, Im just tellin ya basic, uh. Its called The Weave,' Donald Trump said. Its all these different things happening.People in the audience could be heard laughing at him. So let me just say, I said to Mnuchin he said as he continued to ramble. Trump: You gotta be able to finish a thought because its very important. This is big stuff.Micklethwait: Youve gone from the dollar to MacronTrump: Its called the weave pic.twitter.com/j2UYp9jkQu Acyn (@Acyn) October 15, 2024Last month, Trumps out lesbian niece, Mary Trump, wrote about her uncles incoherent rants and how some media organizations try to hide them from their audiences after Donald Trump appeared at the Economic Club of New York and rambled about his daughter, tariffs, and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) when asked about how he would make childcare affordable in a clip that went viral.Mary Trump wrote that the corporate media believe they must translate Donalds nonsensical ramblings into a version of the English language we can all understand. She noted that, while reporting on the event, the Associated Press wrote that Donald Trump had suggest[ed] tariffs can help solve rising child care costs;Politicowrote that he had laid out a sweeping economic vision of lower taxes, higher tariffs, and light-touch regulation; andThe New York Timeswrote that Donald Trump had praised tariffs.Several other publications made similar reports, transgender journalist Parker Molloy noted. She and journalist Aaron Rupar called this a sane-washing of Donald Trumps comments. Weighing in, Mary Trump wrote, Thats a huge problem because, on the one hand, theyre not really translating his words theyre imbuing them with a meaning that is not there; on the other hand, theyre doing this without telling us theyre doing it.Surely a political press corps that spent months arguing that President Bidens age renderedhimmentally unfit, wouldnt look the other way when the Republican candidate, the oldest person to run for president in American history, is not only old but decompensating before our very eyes, she continued. The difference of course is that Biden is aging while Donald isdementing.Donald really does seem to have worn down the corporate medias willingness to cover him properly. Its too badtheyre missing a story most people would be interested in, she added. American democracy depends upon a thriving fourth estate to function optimally. Thats not what we have right now. Not even close. LGBTQ Nation transcribes Donald Trumps rants fully for readers when appropriate, like in this July article about an interview Donald Trump did with Foxs Laura Ingraham that discussed gender issues. Ingraham asked Donald Trump about his claim that, if he gets elected, people wont have to vote again in 2028 and even tried to lead him to a coherent answer, but she was unable to stop The Weave.I started off by saying, just so you understand, you never vote, he said. Christians do not vote. Well, they vote in very small percentages. Why? I dont know. Maybe theyre disappointed in things that are happening, but for a long time, I say, you dont vote. Im saying, go out, you must vote, November 5th is gonna be the most important election in the history of our country. Whether you vote early or not, we should have, by the way, one-day voting, we should have voter ID, we should have proof of citizenship, and we should have paper ballots, OK? Thats what we should- but we dont have that! But I said to the Christians in the room, thousands of them, I said, typically, Christians do not vote. Why it is, I dont know, youre rebellious, somethings going on, dont worry about the future, vote or- You have to vote on November 5th. After that, you dont have to worry about voting anymore, I dont care, because were going to fix- The country will be fixed and we wont even need your vote anymore because frankly, we will have such love if you dont want to vote anymore thats OK.And I think everybody understood it.Ingraham asks Trump about his comments telling Christian backers they won't have to vote again in 4 years. Trump responds by saying Jews should have their heads examined if they vote for Dems. Newsom initiated this ballot initiative in an attempt to counter Texass action in drawing districts to give Republicans an overwhelming congressional advantage by adding more Republican representation.Possibly the election with the highest national visibility was in the race for New York City. A charismatic progressive populist, a Muslim who self-identifies as a democratic socialist, Zohran Mamdani, beat the much better known former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who ran as an Independent after Mamdani beat him in the Democratic primary. If the United States does not act to narrow the massive gaps in wealth and income between sectors of the population, I believe a class war hopefully non-violent is imminent in the United States until and unless we radically change direction. At his victory speech, Mamdaniannounced, Tonight, you have delivered a mandate for change, a mandate for a new kind of politics, a mandate for a city we can afford. Two days prior to Mamdanis election, President Donald Trump, on CBSs 60 Minutes, issued a threat to the people of New York City if they elected Mamdani. Its gonna be hard for me as the president to give a lot of money toNew York, he warned, because if you have a communist running New York, all youre doing is wasting the money youre sending there.Either Trump is ignorant of the very real differences between communism and democratic socialism, or he is attempting to confuse and scare people. But how many people in the United States actually understand socialism? For that matter, how many of us are well-versed in our own socialist history? David Bentley Hart, in his February 24, 2020Commonwealarticle Three Cheers for Socialism, indicts the public for its ignorance on matters of history, social movements, and economic theory.Americans are, of course, the most thoroughly and passively indoctrinated people on earth, he argued. They know next to nothing as a rule about their own history, or the histories of other nations, or the histories of the various social movements that have risen and fallen in the past, and they certainly know little or nothing of the complexities and contradictions comprised within words like socialism and capitalism. When is enough economic inequality and exploitation? | Shutterstock While economic disparities plague all nations across the planet, nowhere among the worlds richer nations are these disparities more extreme thanin the United States. The top 1% of the population (who have an average annual income of $1,316,985) have amassed greater wealth overall than the entire bottom 99% (who have an average income of $50,107). So, when is enough enough? When the compensation of corporateCEOs has risen an astounding 300 times more than a typical workers, when is enough enough? When corporate profits have reached unprecedented heights, though the wages and benefits of the vast majority of workers have either stagnated or diminished (when accounting for inflation), then when is enough enough? When Congress and President Trump passed their misnamed One Big Beautiful Bill, continuing the massive tax credits to the uber-rich, seriously limiting nutritional assistance, rising rates for healthcare insurance on the Affordable Care Act, and thereby effectively eliminating insurance while substantially increasing healthcare costs, when is enough enough? When a few individual families own 20, or 30, or 40 or more fast food franchises while paying their workers less than a living wage and keeping in mind that 26% of fast-food employees are parents raising children, and 68% are the major wage earners for their families when is enough enough? When a McDonalds employee must work the equivalent of 930 years to match the salary that the CEO makes in a single year, when is enough enough? When a family purchases two, or three, or four, or five, or even six homes that they occasionally visit depending on their current mood like the rest of us choose which pair of underwear to wear for the day, while many of our people, including youth, go homeless, when is enough enough? When our elected officials in Washington, D.C. respond merely to the demands of upper-income groups and discount lower socioeconomic income brackets, then when is enough enough? No, democratic socialism is not a magic panacea or some unattainable utopian vision from a futuristic film. Instead, democratic socialism provides a concrete foundation of action for real life to lift our nation from the ever-widening social and economic abyss in which we find ourselves, an abyss that poses an existential crisis far greater than any threat from foreign military or cyber invasion. As the corporate sector increasingly dictates economic policy through the purchasing and ownership of politicians, all at the expense of the people of our country, fostering a corporate culture that eliminates workers healthcare and collective bargaining rights; a culture that promotes and maintains workplace inequalities based on race, nationality, age, sex, sexual identity, gender identity and expression, and disability; a culture that forecloses our homes through scurrilous business practices; and that holds students hostage to loan structures that jeopardize their futures, then when is enough enough? When the military industrial complex marches to the beat of industry, when an educational system based on standardization and allegiance to corporate needs, and when a prison industrial complex that perpetuates the racial and socioeconomic class inequities pervasive throughout society, then when is enough enough? When corporations grab government bailouts with impunity while doling out exorbitant bonuses for executives, and when these same executives pay lower tax rates than their secretaries, then when is enough enough? Even before the Cold War and the so-called McCarthy Period (named after Wisconsin Sen. Joseph McCarthy), individuals and groups on the political and theocratic right flinged the term socialist from their metaphoric sling shots into the faces of their political opponents to discredit their characters, dismiss their political ideas and policies, and to sway the electorate toward a conservative agenda. Here, in the United States, we are alarmed by new calls to adopt socialism in our country. Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country, Donald Trump said in his second State of the Union Address in January 2019, setting a major theme for his future presidential bids by throwing to his base the red meat of socialism, characterizing it as an anti-American, freedom-killing political philosophy. This continued, as evidenced by the political right wing and, in particular, the MAGA movements representation of Kamala Harriss candidacy (and various other Democratic politicians) as socialist left-wing radicals. Democratic Socialism as a cure to corruption & corporate injusticeDENVER, COLORADO March 21, 2025: U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, flanked by U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, speaks at his largest-ever rally with an estimated attendance of more than 30,000 people. | ShutterstockAs destructive and as freedom-killing as the right would have us believe, according to theWorld English Dictionary, socialism involves a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole, where each of us has a stake and advances in the success of our collective economy.Maybe if more of us challenged the vast array of widening and inhumane inequities, where each of us understood that we all have a stake and advance in the success of ourcollectiveeconomy, then enough would definitely and finally be enough! So, what are some strategies to narrow the gaps in wealth and income between the economic classes in the United States:a governmental single-payer quality universal health care system not tied to individuals employment, which includes safe and reasonably priced prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs. guaranteed protection and enhancement of our Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid safety nets that are not taxed.a system of parental leave, paid sick leave, tax credits, and governmental supplements for quality child daycare services, as well as universal Pre-K education for all young people.guaranteed equal pay for equal work between the sexes, and the raising of the minimum wage so workers can significantly raise their standard of living. further nationalization of our parks, forests, mountains, rivers, streams, shores, and offshore waters, rather than allocating increased corporate mining, drilling, and timber rights.free and quality education, not only through grade 12, but throughout higher education and after for everyone who desires and works to achieve their fullest potential.government-sponsored programs that guarantee our seniors a retirement system, one that ensures a high quality of life free from economic burdens. guaranteed rights of workers in all industries to organize and to collectively bargain for better wages and working conditions.elimination of workplace inequalities and larger societal inequalities based on race, nationality, citizenship status, age, sex, sexual identity, gender identity and expression, disability, socioeconomic standing, religion, and other social identities.guaranteed comfortable and secure places to live, and governmental policies that actually prevent a banking system that forecloses peoples homes through scurrilous business practices. severe restrictions on the political process to prevent mammoth contributions by individuals and corporations looking to buy and own politicians and to influence public policy, while locking out individuals and groups unable to amass large political funds.challenges to the military industrial complex which marches to the beat of industry, and a prison industrial complex that perpetuates the racial and socioeconomic class inequities pervasive throughout society.truly progressive tax structures where everyone pays their fair share, one that inhibits massive inequities in the overwhelming accumulation of wealth by the top income brackets. basic and effective restrictions on the so-called free market economic system which currently enables the creation and enhancement of mega monopolies, outsourcing of jobs, manufacture of defective products, and inhibition in the development of clean renewable energy technologies.a free and fair electoral process with equity-drawn voting districts without the fraudulent inclusion of gerrymandering, increased early voting options, increased use of mail-in ballots, reinstatement of deleted provisions by the Supreme Court and enhancement of the National Voting Rights act of 1965 to ensure bias-free and the non-partisan running of elections.the passage and enforcement of fair immigration and refugee-status legislation to provide rights and protections for qualified applicants, without fear of unwarranted arrest or deportation. If the United States does not act to narrow the massive gaps in wealth and income between sectors of the population, I believe a class war hopefully non-violent is imminent in the United States until and unless we radically change direction.Ironically, it will take a democratic socialist revolution to prevent the current capitalist system lacking in oversight regulations, rife with corruption and influence peddling resulting in massive wealth and income inequities vastly favoring the super-rich from imploding upon itself. It will take a democratic socialist revolution to promote governmental sponsorship of previously private and semi-private sector institutions, such as insurance and retirement policy corporations and educational establishments. It will take a democratic socialist revolution to compel the United States to live up to its overriding promise that anyone can succeed depending on their motivation, merit, talent; neither helped nor hindered by their socioeconomic birth ranking or their social identities. It will take a democratic socialist revolution to ensure a firm and strong safety net to catch everyone who, for any reason, has been unable to ascend. Young people, especially those steeped in history or possibly protected from its murky shadows can educate their elders who grew up in earlier generations when socialist was thrown as an evil and corrosive epithet. The type of democratic socialism proposed by, for example, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), and Zohran Mamdani and while not referring to herself as a democratic socialist, ElizabethWarrenhas articulated similar plans is completely dissimilar from the crime and fraud-laded, freedom-killing National Socialism ruthlessly imposed by the German Nazis; and from the governmental system inflicted within the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR); or the ruthless Socialism of Venezuela and the Communism of Mainland China and North Korea.Rather, the democratic socialism outlined by Sanders, Ocasio-Cortez, and Mamdani and the movement activists they have spawned resembles more the social and economic systems of the Scandinavian countries of Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland. No country in the world today stands as a fully socialist state, but rather, some of the most successful economies combine elements of capitalism with socialism to create greater degrees of equity and lesser disparities between the rich, the poor, and those on the continuum in between. This year, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development conducted its Better Life Index to determine the happiest countries in the world, according to its residents. Based on an 11-measure survey assessing quality of life, including housing, income, jobs, community, education, the environment, health, work-life balance, and life satisfaction, all of the Scandinavian countries, plus Netherlands, Iceland, and Switzerland, Canada, plus Australia, and New Zealand reached the top 10 ranked countries. The United States did not make the cut in the top 10 but came in at 17 (down two places from the previous year). Therefore, we might do well to look to these countries for some of their socialist policies that sustain high levels of quality-of-life issues for their residents. Many on the political right have established the false binary of capitalism on one side and socialism/communism on the other. But when we get beyond the fear and false generalizations and connections to tyrannical corrupt dictatorships, is socialism really so anti-American?It will take more, though, than a president to do this. It will take the Houses of Congress to propose and pass legislation and the courts to maintain policies and regulations making the capitalist system more equitable and sustainable, and to conduct genuine oversight functions that prior Congresses have relinquished.Yes, it will take a democratic socialist revolution by We The People to save capitalism from itself!Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

A landlord blew a kiss at his tenant, so the tenant threw him off his roof
A judge sentenced a Weirton, West Virginia, man to one to five years in prison for pushing his male landlord off a rooftop after the landlord blew a kiss at him.A 36-year-old man named Michael Besozzi II allegedly pushed his landlord off of scaffolding in front of the house where Besozzi lived (which the landlord owned) on April 2024 following a dispute over the landlord playing loud music. Police officers then questioned the landlord at the hospital, though Besozzi said he had only handled the scaffolding while asking the landlord to turn down the music volume. Police charged Besozzi with felony malicious or unlawful assault, WBOY reported. In August, Besozzi accepted an Alford plea, in which he didnt admit guilt but conceded that prosecuting attorneys had enough evidence for a trial conviction.Judge Jason A. Cuomo sentenced Besozzi to serve between one and five years in the West Virginia Division of Corrections. District attorney officials said the sentence reflects the seriousness of the assault and should warn neighbors, tenants, and landlords from escalating disputes into violence.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

John Summit goes viral with sweaty shirtless videoDJ reacts to feral gays
John Summit, a DJ and music producer best known for new EDM anthems like "Where You Are," "Shiver," and "Go Back," has gone viral with a very sweaty and very shirtless video of himself during a recent performance. The 31-year-old DJ first stood out to gay audiences for being an attractive guy. And yet, it's been remarkable to see how openly, sincerely, and quickly he embraced fans in the LGBTQ+ community over the years and continues to do so, even as he reaches 1.4 million followers on Instagram, 11.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify, 187.3 million overall views on YouTube.Summit went viral once again this week following a titillating video of himself looking drenched in sweat while shirtless and performing on a stage. The main viral post from this moment was shared by X fanpage @MENin4K on Thursday, November 13.That X post has already reached more than 4.2 million views in less than 24 hours. And, as expected, the replies couldn't be hornier. (@) A few hours later, Summit himself spotted the viral video and quote-shared it on X, writing: "I made it on gay twitter hell ya."The result? Summit's re-post and response has accumulated 3.5 million views as of this writing. (@) It may seem obvious and uncontroversial that a DJ would take on all kinds of gigs where they can play in front of an audience. "Why would they turn down any gigs and bookings?" one could ask. However, it's actually quite rare for mainstream DJs who identify as straight men to feel at ease associating themselves with and performing at queer-based parties, queer-centric venues, and Pride Month events.Summit has taken the opposite route, and a pretty significant number of EDM fans in the LGBTQ+ community have appreciated his embracing of queer fans even as his overall audience grows larger and he goes on to land massive gigs to perform at some of the largest music festivals in the world. While we'll always celebrate and advocate for more DJs from the LGBTQ+ community to get the same level of excitement, it does say something about pop culture that a straight DJ like Summit (who is still an up-and-coming act) keeps doubling down on his support for gay fans at a time when many other mainstream acts have actively distanced themselves for "culture wars" reasons.

MAGA voters explain why theyre frustrated with Trump: Not at all what I expected
Support for Donald Trump has been plummeting, even among his ardent MAGA base. One area where the president has consistently polled poorly is in his handling of the economy. Contrary to all credible reports, the president continues to claim the economy is thriving and that everyday necessities are becoming more affordable. But Americans, even Trump voters, arent buying it. Related Trump slammed as dumbest person alive for utterly out-of-touch take on mortgages NBC News spoke with eighteen of those voters about why they disapprove of his handling of the economy. Everythings already so expensive Thats the worst thing about his presidency so far, said 35-year-old construction worker Billy Edmonson of Missouri, is he promised things coming down and prices are not coming down. I make more money than Ive ever made in my life right now, and it has, financially, been a struggle. Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. Subscribe to our Newsletter today He expressed anger that the Trump administration does not seem to have focused on lowering prices and merely continues to lay blame on Joe Biden for why prices remain high. Bidens not in office anymore, he said. Its personally frustrating. Also among those displeased with the president is 42-year-old Tim Fleming, a factory worker in Tennessee who called Trumps tenure thus far a little disappointing. While he believes Trumps tariffs have created more jobs in his area, he is frustrated that the presidents promise not to tax overtime or tips has been applied as a tax deduction, so the benefits arent felt right away.My overtime is still getting taxed; my bonuses are still getting taxed. It was not what it was made out to be. 66-year-old Susan, a Nevadan retiree, said its clear the administration is lying about prices going down. When you go to the store, prices are up, she said. The economic focus of the administration is not at all what I expected, she added, saying officials are spending all the time on the tariffs or making nice to the Chinese president or something like that.Another retiree, 70-year-old Patty from Pennsylvania, slammed Trump for being out of touch with everyday people. Hes never had to do anything his whole life. Hes never had to go shop. So, he has no idea what a true working person in their daily life has to do. The Republican Party is in for a rude awakening, and I think its not a bad thing, she added. Despite their displeasure, none of these voters said they regretted their vote. Some said theyd consider voting for a Democrat in the future, though, while others said they never could.A recent NBC News poll found that most Republicans still support Trump on the economy, but it also found that 63% of registered voters believe he has not met their expectations on the economy and cost of living. Earlier this week, CNNs chief data analyst Harry Enten cited a University of Michigan poll that showed consumer sentiment regarding current conditions is at its worst ever, dating back to 1951.And in early November, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow cited an ABC/Washington Post poll that showed Americans disapprove of him on everything, from his handling of Israel and Gaza (minus 6 points) to his approach to crime (minus 11 points) to his immigration policies (minus 13 points) to his handling of foreign relations (minus 19 points) to the economy (minus 25 points) to the handling of the Russia-Ukraine War (minus 21 points) to his management of the federal government (minus 27 points) to his tariffs (minus 32 points). The numbers no doubt explain what happened in the elections on November 4, when Democrats swept in races across the country. The off-year elections saw Democrats annihilate their Republican and independent opponents in everything from gubernatorial and mayoral races to judicial retention votes to state legislative elections to commission races, as well as in a historic, unprecedented ballot measure.Analysts have said the Democrats could not have had a better night, as candidates across the country not only won their elections but, in many cases, made history. And in many races, Democrats won by such large margins that news organizations declared winners within minutes of polls closing.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

He is an incredible hockey playerIf you asked my son to list 10 things about himself number 20 would be that he is transgender. He is a brother, a friend, a teammate, a student, a son, and an incredible hockey player. He is fair and funny, he is private and respectful. My son has more integrity and grace at 13 than most people triple his age. The only thing he wants is to be treated with the same dignity and respect as his peers. She deserves to be radiantMy step-daughter has really come alive since coming out and its a joy to see. Her smile is brighter, she laughs more freely, she blushes shyly at compliments. Though she is out and free to be her true self with us, due to the hate in the world and in the media and due to the bullying at school she is not out to the world. It is heartbreaking to see her so joyful and free only to then lock her true identity away again because people can be so cruel. Shes such a beautiful and kind soul and she shouldnt have to hide it, she deserves to be radiant and alive as her true self for all of her life not just a few days a week. | Shutterstock Im so lucky to be his momHe has blossomed since he spoke his truth and became who he truly is. He is caring, empathetic, funny, sarcastic, creative, and unique and all of those qualities were finally able to come to the surface once he was able to let go of the identity the world thrust upon him and emerge from his cocoon. No parent would ever wish this on their child its a whole extra level of struggle in a world that is already hard enough. Parenting her has made me braver, more compassionate, more joyful. It has made our whole family more free. The story of raising a trans child is not one of sorrow. It is a story of freedom. Of becoming. Of joy. She has the best vocabulary out of anyone in her grade, but she cant cross the street by herself. She loves to create art and talk to her friends on the phone while playing video games. She loves to analyze the world around her and try to establish whats real. She has the wisdom of an eighty five year old and has taught me so much about life. She knew who she was before I ever did. It took me into my thirties to decide who I was and my child already knows.Watching her list off all of the people that she loved with all her heart and how they would react to finding out that she was trans was one of the most heartbreaking experiences Ive ever had in my entire life. This little girl knew that she would not be loved by the people around her, just for being who she is. So she hides it.I never wanted this journey for myself as a mother or for my child. Its unspeakably painful to know of how the world is going to treat her. The best thing that I can do is to just love her for exactly who she is, and make sure she always has a home in my heart. She is a blessing beyond words and has the strength of a lion. He crochets gifts for his professors and for the cafeteria workers at his university. He volunteers at the local food bank and plays piano beautifully. He is a wonderful role model for his little brother and for so many others. He has always been perfect. Nothing has changed but a pronoun and I couldnt love him more if I tried.Happiness looks fantastic on her Im proud of her and this is not a sorrow for our family. She chose her name to respect our family and be in continuity with that while better expressing who she is. Shes wise and nurturing. Her hormones make her happy and happiness looks fantastic on her. Hello Out readers.2025 has been a year of disappointing divas. From Debra Messing's anti-Momdani breakdown on social media to Sydney Sweeney's "good jeans" and Republican voter registration, the divas are turning their backs on the fandoms that elevate them to diva status.Sydney Sweeney's conservatism led to her lesbian boxer biopic, Christy, becoming one of the biggest box-office flops of the year, and it's a shame. After lesbian actor Ruby Rose slammed Sweeney's casting, Christy Martin, the woman the film is based on, came out defending Sweeney."Syd not only worked her ass off for this film, she worked her ass off for me," Martin said. "For my story. For so many others suffering in silence. So I want to be clear about who Syd is. She is my friend and ally!"Even more disappointing is rapper Nicki Minaj, who seems to have gone full MAGA recently. After she praised Donald Trump on social media for saying he would make protecting Christians in Nigeria a priority, many fans clapped back at Minaj, saying she was turning her back on the queer community. After defending her stance, Minaj doubled down. That's when she shared another post from the White House, this time celebrating several of Trump's "accomplishments" set to Minaj's song, "Va Va Voom."The post celebrates things Trump has done, like "No men in women's sports," "Border is closed," and 'Criminal illegals are being deported."Who do you think is the most disappointing diva of 2025?Keep reading to hear Robyn's comeback single and find all the best pop culture news!- Mey RudeJohn Summit goes viral with sweaty shirtless videoDJ reacts to feral gaysHow 'Now You See Me's cast 'holds space' for social justice10 standout gay sex scenes in movies and TV shows from 2025 (so far)'All's Fair': Sarah Paulson and Niecy Nash-Betts bond over 'Carol' and 'lesbianing'Laura Dern says the love from her LGBTQ+ fans has been 'the greatest gift ever'Did Rene Rapp just get engaged? These are the top 10 most affordable gayborhoods
LGBTQ+ communities aren't all expensiveYou don't need to live in California or New York to live in a queer community and you don't need to spend an arm and a leg, either. Go to any major metropolitan area in the United States and you're likely to find a "gayborhood:" an enclave of LGBTQ+ residents and businesses that group together for both safety and support. But just because they're in a city doesn't mean they're expensive, and just because they're cheap doesn't mean they're crummy.Related: 6 historic gayborhoods you should visit in 2026 that are still thrivingWhile every state has queer people in both high- and low-income areas, in both cities and the countryside, most gayborhoods tend to form in cities. But some of the places they pop up may surprise you, especially those that have only recently begun to grow and develop. Here are the 10 least expensive gayborhoods in the U.S., all with a median home price under $300,000, according to real estate website Redfin. These rankings are based on the median home price for each area as of November 2025, which is subject to change.10. FerndaleThe Ferndale neighborhood in Detroit, Michigan, has a median home price of $287,000, according to Redfin.Ferndale has been home to a large queer community since the 1980s, and has hosted Motor City Pride the state's largest Pride celebration since 2001. Over 60,000 women sign a letter in support of trans women & calling out false feminism
Over 60,000 women have already signed on to an open letter in support of trans people in the United Kingdom. The letter is targeted to media groups and politicians at a time when anti-trans rhetoric in the country often suggests that trans women take away the rights of cis women. We reject completely and categorically the active discrimination and exclusion of trans, non-binary and gender-diverse people, the letter reads. Those who continue to target this minority group do not speak for us or represent our interests. They never have. They never will. Related Bookstore stops selling Harry Potter as JK Rowling becomes increasingly cruel toward trans people The open letter is a collaboration between Not In Our Name (NION) and the Good Law Project. NION is a collective of cis women against the twisting of feminism for anti-trans purposes who primarily authored the letter. The Good Law Project is a non-profit that challenges the U.K. government and large institutions in court to fight against hate and push for a better world. The U.K. has seen a huge increase in anti-trans rhetoric in recent years and played a key part in the spread of that message. The Cass Review came from the U.K. and has been used to justify gender-affirming care bans for minors in the United States. Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. Subscribe to our Newsletter today In particular, the U.K. has championed anti-trans language that twists feminism into hatred, targeted predominantly at trans women. British authorJ.K. Rowlinghas become afigurehead for transphobic speech, claiming, without foundation, that her crusade is based on concerns about womens rights, protecting women from violence, and keeping men out of women-only spaces. Similarly, ex-TV writer Graham Linehan claims to be protecting women from trans people while calling for violence against them. The letter from NION and the Good Law Project is a powerful rebuke of the foundations for those claims. An anonymous member of NION told Pink News that the decision to have the letter come from women stemmed from the feeling that it is a voice that is missing from the conversation. The letter makes it clear that these women do not feel that they need to be protected from trans people. The real threat to women has never been trans women seeking to live their lives with dignity. The real threat remains what it has always been: a culture that enables male violence and then blames everyone except the men who perpetrate it.The letter includes statistics for the number of women killed by men and impacted by domestic violence every year, as well as noting that 98% of sexual offences are perpetrated by men.The authors and those who have signed on to the letter are signaling that they are done with trans people being scapegoated for problems in society that either dont exist or have other causes. We refuse to be complicit in this misdirection. We refuse to allow our experiences to be weaponized against other women. We refuse to stay silent while our trans sisters are demonized in our name.It also highlights the danger and discrimination that trans, non-binary, and gender-non-conforming people face every day, including being disproportionately the victims of murder, suffering from higher rates of self-harm and suicidal attempts, and being denied healthcare, housing, and employment. The letter widely called out false feminism that abandons the most vulnerable women, leaving all women at greater risk. The Good Law Project has just finished a hearing in its challenge to the Equality and Human Rights Commissions (EHRC) interim guidance in the U.K.s High Court. After a Supreme Court decision in April, the EHRC issued updated guidance that recommended against allowing trans people to use areas consistent with their gender identity. The Good Law Project is representing claimants who were impacted by that guidance before it was removed from the EHRCs website.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Everything is grooming now except for actually grooming children
For the past five years online, conservatives have repeatedly said that LGBTQ+ people are groomers and pedophiles. But now that thousands of documents related to notorious child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein were released including emails from Epstein showing his close ties to the president its more than a little annoying to see Republicans act like molesting children is no big deal.Take rightwing radio host Megyn Kelly, for example, who recently pontificated that the story isnt that bad because Epstein wasnt into, like, 8-year-olds and instead trafficked very young teenagers that could pass for even younger than they were. Related The conversion therapy case shows the right wants to talk to kids about sex but only to shame them I think there is a difference between a 15-year-old and a 5-year-old, you know? she said on her show Wednesday night.Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this caseJeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophileHe was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girlsHe wasn't into like 8 year oldsThere's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old." pic.twitter.com/a7wmT3BRJU Republican Accountability (@AccountableGOP) November 13, 2025 Dive deeper every day Join our newsletter for thought-provoking commentary that goes beyond the surface of LGBTQ+ issues Subscribe to our Newsletter today For years, you couldnt look at Twitter (now X) without seeing people calling trans and nonbinary adults predators for the crime of merely existing somewhere in the vicinity of children. Kelly herself jumped on that bandwagon, writing an essay that said that she was done with preferred pronouns in 2022, which was really a transphobic rant where she all but accused LGBTQ+ people of preying on children.Kids, too, can grow to adulthood and do what they want with their bodies. I will have empathy for them. I would never bully them, she claimed. But children should not be subjected to these dangerous interventions in school or at the hands of so-called medical professionals. The facilities that allow it must be stopped or shut down. Of course, no schools are actually performing gender-affirming surgery on kids. That wasnt just a lie, it was an obvious, transparent lie, but it was a lie that many on the right repeated because they really wanted to believe and make others believe that LGBTQ+ people are a threat to children. Look at what happens when the queers get even basic acceptance in schools, was the argument. They cut kids up!This isnt ancient history. Kelly was calling California state Sen. Scott Wiener (D), whos gay, a dangerous dude who is very, very pro transing your child just earlier this week. Her proof? She played a clip of him saying that parents should not be prosecuted if they support their trans kids. That was it.Many on the right genuinely believe that the right type of person can simply do no wrong while the wrong type of person is always in the wrong. So this is where Republicans are at the moment: Youre a threat to kids if you think that parents shouldnt be thrown in jail for the crime of supporting their transgender children. But if you have sexually abused kids? Well, as long as they arent like 8 then its fine. Its not just fine, its grand, they might even vote for you for president.Kelly isnt the only one. Far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, a Trump supporter who has promoted several conspiracy theories about secret cabals of elitists molesting and sacrificing children, called the Epstein story a nothingburger. Jones once said that trans people wanting to use the bathroom of their gender is about jacking with children. Now theres a story that has actual proof that elites got together and harmed children, and Jones, who based his whole career on connecting obscure symbols and signs together to divine the existence of such a conspiracy, cant believe the emails the Department of Justice obtained.Everything is grooming to conservatives except for actually molesting children. Conspiracy theorists when theres a real conspiracy: literally nothing to see here, move along pic.twitter.com/lJqUti8zAX Natalie Wynn (@ContraPoints) November 13, 2025I spend a lot of time each day reading LGBTQ+ news and discussions of LGBTQ+ issues on social media because of my job, and in the past few years, it has become taxing on my soul to keep up with the queer news because of the constant flinging of one of the worst accusations one can make with little concern for veracity.Especially since they were meant to be attacks on me and the people I surround myself with. While I know that the claims are untrue that LGBTQ+ people arent uniformly child molesters and arent even more likely than cis-het people to harm children the constant accusation is intended to be psychologically damaging. Its supposed to make LGBTQ+ people feel ashamed and excluded from society while putting a target on our backs. So to find out not just that its the accusers who are more likely to support a system of power that enables this kind of abuse of children, but that they actually just plain dont care about kids well-being at all, that it was always just a political football to them is infuriating. A lot of ink was spilled when conservatives started making every sentence they typed on social media into noun verb groomer about how diluting the meaning of grooming hurt people who were actually the victims of sexual abuse. But what some of them, apparently including Kelly and Jones, were doing was not just diluting the meaning of the term. They had a complete disregard for what it was meant to signify. Instead, groomer and other child-predation terms were just insults to them, words that get people riled up. So why not just fling them around with no care for their meaning? It was all in the name of getting attention for hopping on board with the moral panic du jour. The right wont learn and they wont change. Their worldview depends on elevating some people above others and protecting them from the consequences of their actions, and many on the right genuinely believe that the right type of person can simply do no wrong while the wrong type of person is always in the wrong. Thats not how the real world works. Evidence matters when determining whether someone is guilty of a crime, while the demographics they belong dont. And most people know this and most people from all parts of the political spectrum believe this. So anyone saying the opposite is not simply mistaken but is likely overcompensating or trying to cover for someone who is actually guilty. That is, no one was ever stupid enough to really believe that LGBTQ+ people are inherently a threat to children. It just became a ritual practice to say it so that certain people wouldnt have to take a hard look at who they supported.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Theres little girls in there! Woman rages at trans man using womens restroom at Barnes & Noble
A confused MAGA woman freaked out over a book lovers gender-nonconforming appearance in a Barnes & Noble bathroom this week. TikTok user @americanrevivalgirl flipped over the presence in the womens restroom of a trans man, who wore a pink dress with kitten ears and sported facial hair. Related Trans man kicked out of womens bathroom at arcade: It was dehumanizing The bathroom user told the woman he was assigned female at birth. While the incident raised legitimate questions about gender presentation, privacy, and safety issues for both parties, the outraged MAGA woman raced to the bottom with an online screed assigning nefarious motives to the kitten-eared bookstore patron. I got scared, she said in a clip shot in her car. My heart sunk. The post inspired a deluge of transphobic comments in her TikTok replies.Bottom line is, the person in the video is mentally ill, read one.Another user called for canceling Barnes & Noble. Ironically, @americanrevivalgirl expressed sympathy for the trans man in a dress, acknowledging he likely went to the bathroom corresponding to his gender assigned at birth because it might be dangerous for him to use the mens restroom. That fact seemed to be lost on @americanrevivalgirls followers. The tirade racked up over three million views before @americanrevivalgirl took it down. There were plenty of TikTok users in support of the trans man, though, calling out multiple hypocrisies intruding on the rant. You are so focused on trans people, yet any parent who sends their daughter or son to the restroom alone is a terrible parent. Anyone can be in the restroom, and a woman can also m*lest or k*dnap a girl or a boy, one user wrote. Just to be clear this person was born a female. So theyre using the proper bathroom according to all of you guys. In fact most of you support legislation that would force this person to use only the womens bathroom, said another. If youre this terrified of a stranger being in a public bathroom with you then maybe dont use public bathrooms then. She wasnt going around looking under stalls or molesting people. Review: 'The Running Man's electric action bogged down by heavy-handed writing
When the original Running Man movie came out in 1987, reality TV was still a thing of science fiction. Now, in 2025, when the genre is as ubiquitous as bad politicians, the new version of Stephen King's dystopian story ramps up the action and flair but falls short in its political messaging and tone.Directed by Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) and written by Wright and Michael Bacall, The Running Man takes place in a near future where Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is blacklisted from getting a job because he spoke to a union representative, and must sign up for a deadly reality show to get a better life for his wife and baby daughter.Richards signs up for the popular reality show The Running Man, where three people can win a billion "new dollars" if they survive for 30 days with five trained Hunters and the entire nation of viewers trying to catch and kill them. After he has a narrow escape "live on Freevee" that results in several of the network's soldiers being killed, Richards becomes, at first, a national villain, and then something of an anti-hero. Traveling throughout King's New England (even stopping in Derry of It fame), he meets various members of the resistance, all fighting the show's network and other powers that be in their own ways. He soon becomes a symbol of their movement. The film travels from action set piece to action set piece, ending on a private jet with some of the movie's best scenes. While the action is some of the best you'll see on a screen this year, the film's writing and messaging unfortunately drag it down every time a new monologue is dropped.Wright's films are typically known for slick, stylish cuts and editing, a musical pace and tempo, and action that propels the narrative forward. Sadly, some of that is missing from The Running Man. It doesn't feel as fun as Scott Pilgrim, as action-packed as Hot Fuzz, or as cool as Baby Driver. One of the reasons is that Wright's typical style only seems to pop up now and then like a drone shot of Richards being chased through a hostel, a car chase shown cleverly through a trunk, and some scenes in the middle with Michael Cera. Other times, the movie falls into the same patterns and tempo as lesser, more clichd action movies. Each time there was a good action or comedy scene, it was followed by a heavy-handed speech about the politics of the film. I agree with all of those politics, and I'm glad that The Running Man's message of revolution is to the left of this fall's other revolutionary film, One Battle After Another. Still, subtlety goes a long way in political art, and it's absent here.Because The Running Man's world is so close to the real one, some of the power of the satire is lost, turning it into political melodrama instead of dystopian sci-fi. Instead of leaning into absurdity, this movie brings us back down to reality like an anchor hitting the sea floor.A movie about a reality TV show where citizens are hunted down for sport is already heavy-handed enough; it doesn't need action-stopping monologues to add even more weight.Powell is fittingly volcanic as a blue-collar worker who has been pushed too far his entire life and has been holding back his anger for some time. He's a family man, but he's also the angriest man to ever try out for the show (or so we're told). After Twisters, Powell is once again playing the handsome hero, and he's sure to gain even more fans with this film.Oscar-winner Colman Domingo is one of the film's brightest spots as the flashy TV host Bobby T, who shouts every piece of dialogue like his life depends on it. Katy O'Brian (Love Lies Bleeding) is also a highlight as Laughlin, a sexy lesbian with a death wish who is also a contestant on the show. She needs to get bumped up to action lead right now!Lee Pace is also fittingly menacing and sexy as McCone, the enigmatic, masked leader of the Hunters. Josh Brolin, Emilia Jones, William H. Macy, Daniel Ezra, and Jayme Lawson also star.Overall, The Running Man is fun, flashy, and exciting, and would be a terrific effort by a lesser filmmaker. Unfortunately, many fans will expect more from a master like Wright, and this film falls short of his standards. Two and a half out of five stars. The Running Man is currently in theaters.

Ohio man proud of his GAY license plates after winning them in a free speech lawsuit
Ohio resident William Saki recently attached a license plate reading GAY to his Honda sedan after winning his lawsuit against Ohios Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) for unfairly blocking him from getting it. The BMV had said that the license plate was inappropriate, but Saki says hes proud of his new plates.Gay. Its who I am. Its a fact and its who I am and Im proud of it. I notice people pointing and taking photos when I drive by it puts a smile on my face, I like it, Saki told WEWS-TV, adding that he sued the BMV because, Thats my free speech theyre messing with. Related Gay man wins the right to own a license plate that says QUEER In September, a federal judge ruled that the BMV violated Sakis free speech rights by denying his license plate applications for GAY, QUEER, and HOMO even though the bureau allowed him to apply for license plates reading, STR8, STR8 PWR, NO GAYS, NO HOMOS, and NO F**S.The BMV also rejected an application for license plates reading MUSLIM, though it accepted applications for ATHEIST, BAPTIST, SIKH, and HINDU. Somebody wanted Jack Daniels abbreviated, and they allowed that, but they wouldnt allow Jim Beam. Somebody wanted Zinfandel, and thats fine, but you couldnt have Cabernet. In aSeptember 11 case dismissal, Judge Dan Aaron Polster of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio Eastern Division wrote that representatives of the BMV conceded that the BMV had erred in rejecting the vanity plates. BMV representatives agreed that they would approve any of the 62,000 forbidden words in their database that dont meet the standard of being offensive, disparaging, or socially insensitive. Additionally, the BMV said it would provide information for drivers to appeal any improperly rejected license plates.WEWS-TV reached out to the BMV for comment, but the bureau declined to comment. High school postpones play featuring lesbian romance to make it more appropriate
A high school outside of Des Moines, Iowa postponed its fall play last week to make modifications to its content. The decision has led some in the community to suggest that it may have been due to the plays LGBTQ+ themes.According to local news outlets, Perry High Schools student production of She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurers Edition was originally set to debut on November 8. But following a November 6 dress rehearsal, the school sent out a November 7 letter informing the community that the plays two-night run had been pushed back to November 1415. Related High school musicals are being canceled over LGBTQ+ themes After careful review and thoughtful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone our upcoming school play, said the letter, signed by Perry High drama director Randy Peterson, principal Brad Snowgren, activities director Tina Lutterman, and district superintendent Clark Wicks. At this time, certain elements of the production do not fully align with the core values and mission of our school. In order to ensure that all performances reflect the standards and expectations we uphold for our students, we will be taking time to make appropriate modifications, Never Miss a Beat Subscribe to our newsletter to stay ahead of the latest LGBTQ+ political news and insights. Subscribe to our Newsletter today School officials specified neither the elements in question not the values with which they do not align, nor did they provide details about the modifications they intend to make to the play.As WOI-DT and other local outlets note, playwright Qui Nguyens 2011 dramedy centers on a young woman grieving after the passing away of her younger sister, and features a subplot in which two young women begin a romance. According to the New York Times, following its initial run at The Flea Theater in New York City, She Kills Monsters has become one of the most popular productions among amateur and school theater programs across the U.S., with 652 schools and colleges staging the play between 2013 and 2021. Over 400 of those productions have been of Nguyens Young Adventurers Edition, a version of the play he adapted for younger performers and audiences. But, as WOI-DT notes, even that toned-down version has been canceled in at least two school districts in recent years. In 2021, Cleveland.com reported that complaints about the plays lesbian subplot led Hillsboro City Schools Superintendent Tim Davis to cancel a high school production because the play was not appropriate for our K-12 audience. Last year, the principal of a Wisconsin high school claimed that her decision to ban students from staging the play had absolutely nothing to do with the productions portrayal of gay characters, as had been alleged by some parents, according to The Daily Jefferson County Union.According to WOI-DT, superintendent Wicks has declined to comment on the Perry High postponement. But at a November 10 school board meeting members of the community, including parents and students, weighed in on the controversy. My question is, why was this play chosen in the first place? local mom Rebekah Haynie said. Theres no shortage of plays and creative outlets for expression for any and all types of belief, personality, ideas, and identity. My issue with this play is that it is the central topic of the play. They feature characters aggressively making out that is the direct stage direction thats in the play.Local drag performer Jordy Lopez-Mayorga meanwhile, argued that the content of the Young Adventurers Edition of the play was appropriate for high school students. As Go! reports, commenters on social media accused the district of censoring LGBTQ+ representation.Gay teens exist and deserve representation and I happen to believe that making out awkwardly in a school play is a rite of passage, one user wrote. None of you would be making such a big stink if it was a straight stage kiss and little news flash most of the kids in the drama club will still be gay even if you make them kiss genders they arent attracted to.Meanwhile, in an interview with Raccoon Valley Radio posted Friday, Perry High junior Genesis Gonzalez said shes still excited to appear in schools production of She Kills Monsters because its different.I also like the meaning behind it of getting to know your sister, she added.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Queer poet Andrea Gibson's 'wild energy' lives on in new doc
At the SVA theater in New York City, almost every single one of the theaters close to 500 seats was filled to watch an early screening of the Apple TV documentary Come See Me in the Good Light, which is being released on the streamer today. The project focuses on Andrea Gibson, a prolific poet and activist who was diagnosed with an incurable ovarian cancer in 2021, and the trials and tribulations of their medical journey. They passed away in July, and at the screening, the director Ryan White spoke during a Q&A following the movie as the lights lifted on the cacophony of sniffles and nose blowing and was asked what his favorite quote of Gibsons is, given that he spent so much time with them while filming the documentary.Gibson, as shown in the movie, expertly balanced optimism with realism, and their voice was one of, if not the, most important tool given the nature of their work. Towards the end of their life, the treatment they were receiving affected their vocal chords, and they werent able to speak before they slipped into a coma and later passed away. But before the last thing they said before they fell into the coma was, I fucking loved my life. Those five words perfectly encapsulated the ethos of this film and the power of the project that was made. Gibson was able to find the beauty in the darkest moment of their life. And after watching this movie, its impossible not to have a newfound appreciation for beauty of life. Tig Notaro, a comedian and one of the documentarys producers, tells Out that she was there during Gibsons final moments and said it was one of the most devastating and most beautiful experiences of my life. She continued, There were so many different people from Andrea's life and there were so many different complex dynamics going on. Everybody came together in the most loving way to send Andrea off, its hard to explain to you what I witnessed. It was Notaro that brought the idea to the director Ryan White, who admittedly wasnt aware of Gibsons work nor the poetry world in general, alongside one of the other producers on the film, Stef Willen. The two of them felt Gibsons life would be a great documentary and got White and his producing partner, Jessica Hargrave, on board. The team ran with it all the way to the finish line and produced an emotional, inspiring film. From the moment Stef Willen [came up with the idea] to the moment Im sitting here talking to you, it's all just been green lights, Notaro said. Theres no way it wouldnt be made the way it was because Megan and Andrea are incredible subjects. Megan Falley, Andreas widow, tells Out that she feels like shes in a a rare privileged position after having lost her partner and then, be able to attend these screenings and watch their perfect face cast 15 feet tall, and then get to watch our love and fall In love with them, as everyone in the room around me is falling in love with them too. Andrea Gibson in "Come See Me in the Good Light"Courtesy of AppleTVFalley says she felt it was important to champion the messages that her partner felt it was important to share in this lifetime and beyond their lifetime, adding that it's a rare gift to have lost somebody and have a film that captures what [the two of them] had so flawlessly. There wasnt any hesitation about allowing cameras into their lives during this vulnerable time of their lives, Falley said. The couple had become close with the filmmakers and saw them as friends, who faded into the background. They lived their lives as they would have had the cameras not been there. Gibsons began having trouble with their eyesight due to the treatment they were receiving at the time the ask to create this project came their way. And so to be a part of a piece of media that wouldnt strain any part of their body in any way was a pretty instant yes.White, the director, said that he was expecting Notaro to bring him a funny documentary, but he wasn't expecting something life-changing. "I feel like I was given a gift," he says. "I hope that we were able to make a gift for other people." Gibson never thought they were going to be able to see the film before they passed, he said, but they were able to watch it a few times and saw how people were responding to it, which seemed to be the most important part of making the film to Gibson. He's started to rewire his brain to think of the success of the film differently, saying that what's important is getting to show this film to audiences whether it's 500 people or 15, and seeing how people were affected by it, which he says he's feeling even harder now that Gibson is not here. After finishing the film, Falley took on the responsibility of not only writing her own memoir but her late partners as well, along with their Substack newsletter called Things That Dont Suck, a seemingly emotional laborious undertaking for a grieving widow. When asked about what it means for her to be able to do this for her partner and what feelings arise, Falley says, Often, I think about the scientific fact that energy isn't created or destroyed. And if you met and if you met Andrea, you would know that they were nothing if not a rambunctious, wild energy. Andrea Gibson (left) and Megan Falley (right) in "Come See Me in the Good Light"Courtesy of AppleTVShe continued, I was there when they died, their heart stopped beating under my hand. And all of that energy, if it has to go somewhere, I hope that some of it is in me to carry forward. Gibson was contracted to write the newsletter before their cancer diagnosis. And when they were thinking about going back to work, Gibson felt it was the worst time to write about things that dont suck. But Falley said their perspective immediately shifted to No, this is the best possible timing, and their art from that moment on was very intentionally funneled through this lens. Now that shes taken over this responsibility of putting out the newsletter, Falley says she inherited this ethos from Andrea, very cosmically but also intentionally, as a thing to carry forward as a 37 year old widow who could also very easily say, This is the worst time to write things that don't suck, and say the exact opposite of that.Falley says that one of the most important takeaways that she feels Gibson would want their audience to know is for people to see whats possible with bad news: They would want folks to note that just because something that we culturally have decided is is bad luck or being dealt a bad hand doesn't require a bad attitude or a bad perspective to go along with it. When Gibson died, Falley let White know about their passing and sent a message to him and Willen saying, Make sure you both go out and find something beautiful today, because otherwise we missed the point.Come See Me in the Good Light is now streaming on Apple TV.

Straight Nonsense: Britney Spears was freednow let's root for Wendy Williams
In the column Straight Nonsense, columnist Moises Mendez II takes a queer eye to the insanity of straight culture. The ongoing conservatorship court case with everyone's favorite talk show host, Wendy Williams, is just as complicated and messy as she is. But that doesn't mean it doesn't deserve our attention. Yes, she's said some terrible things on air and off, but we are continuing to learn of evidence suggesting she may be being taken advantage of by some of the people closest to her.Earlier this week, TMZ reported that an unnamed "top neurologist" performed a series of tests on the former talk show host and determined that she does not have frontotemporal dementia. This is a bombshell in her mounting fight against the conservatorship that she's been vocally opposed to since it was granted three years ago after her bank determined that she was not of sound mind to manage her finances and that she was at risk of being exploited. But it seems as though that, even with a conservatorship, she wasn't immune to being taken advantage of. The entire saga was expertly detailed in New York magazine's October 6 cover story titled, "Wendy Williams Wants Out."After years of her wild antics on The Wendy Williams Show and going toe-to-toe with some of the biggest celebrities in pop culture, the host abruptly left her post in 2021, and the last season was filled in with a few guest hosts before it was taken off the air. In 2022, she was placed under a court-ordered guardianship after representatives for Williams said that she had been diagnosed with the aforementioned neurological condition. In the story, the writer spoke with a few close people in Williams's inner circle, including some family members who wanted to get in touch with the television personality, but said they haven't been able to because of her guardian, an elder care attorney named Sabrina Morrisey. To review, Lifetime released a 2024 documentary called Where Is Wendy Williams? that showed the personality unwell but it wasn't clear what was the root of her malady. She has been open about her diagnosis with Graves' disease, an autoimmune condition that strains the ocular muscles. And in the doc, she was seen drinking often, which can cause cognitive issues. But also, the New York article recounts, there are a few people in her orbit that seem troubling: "a new manager who was in fact her jeweler; a new publicist who oddly had come to her through her estranged ex-husbands attorney (an attorney who would later falsely claim to represent Williams); very few members of her family; and only one visiting friend, the model Blac Chyna. After Williams's legal team obtained this new evidence,TMZ reported that the team plans to file legal documents within the next two weeks to petition a judge to terminate the guardianship. But until then, she will be staying at Coterie, her high-end assisted-living facility in Hudson Yards. Unsurprisingly, the amount of noise the public has made for Williams is an astronomically lower amount than that for Britney Spears. And before critics try to say, "Well, this situation is different," the only real difference is that Spears is younger and white, so therefore she was seen as the perfect victim. She was easier to root for because her case came to light at the height of public reexamination of how media consumers and the entertainment ecosystem treated celebrities in the early 2000s. This reexamination then led to a wave of Renaissance moments for our favorite stars who might have been blacklisted or largely ignored for years, finally getting their redemption arcs Brendan Fraser, Lindsay Lohan, and now Oscar-winner Robert Downey Jr. (though, I'm not forgetting when he did Blackface). Notice the pattern of the people I just listed? Williams is imperfect, abrasive, and, at most times, conspiratorial, but she's still a person asking for help and is surrounded by people who don't seem to have her best interests at heart. She deserves a chance to have her case her in court. And if the rumors that Williams's friends and family are spreading in the piece are true, maybe there is a larger force at play and that should be investigated. But we don't know what's going to happen with the infamous television star. A legal scholar who is an expert in the conservatorship system spoke to New York and gave a harrowing message: "'Most people subject to guardianship do not have it terminated,' said Nina Kohn. You may enter the arrangement voluntarily, but you cannot leave it of your own free will. Williams cannot get out the same way she came in. But Williams is a fighter; just look at her face-off with Whitney Houston. If she can do that, she can do anything.Moises Mendez II is a staff writer at Out magazine. Did Donald Trump have sex with Bill Clinton? Bizarre Epstein email has everyone wondering
Who is Bubba, and why did Trump blow him?Thats the question from one X user among thousands posed on social media Friday, after an email exchange between sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein and his brother surfaced, which references Donald Trump and an unknown individual named Bubba. They also inspired Trump, just hours after the Bubba emails hit the internet, to order Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate Democrats named in the tranche of emails released Wednesday. Now that the Democrats are using the Epstein Hoax, involving Democrats, not Republicans, to try and deflect from their disastrous SHUTDOWN, and all of their other failures, I will be asking A.G. Bizarre Epstein files reference to Trump, Putin, and oral sex with Bubba draws scrutiny in Congress
The latest tranche of emails from the estate of late convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein includes one that contains what appear to be references to President Donald Trump allegedly performing oral sex, raising questions the committee cannot answer until the Department of Justice turns over records it has withheld, says U.S. Rep. Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee.Garcia insists the Trump White House is helping block them.Keep up with the latest in LGBTQ+ news and politics. Sign up for The Advocate's email newsletter. In a Friday afternoon interview with The Advocate, the out California lawmaker responded to a 2018 exchange, which was included in the emails released, between Jeffrey Epstein and his brother, Mark Epstein. In that message, Mark wrote that because Jeffrey Epstein had said he was with former Trump adviser Steve Bannon, he should ask him if Putin has the photos of Trump blowing Bubba. Related: Trump (not drag queens) appears in Epstein files & DOJ told him months ago, The Wall Street Journal reportsBubba is a nickname former President Bill Clinton has been known by; however, the email does not clarify who Mark Epstein meant, and the context remains unclear. (@) Thats a very, very interesting email, Garcia said. I read it as well.He emphasized that the committee lacks sufficient information to accurately interpret the message. Were not sure, actually, what thats in reference to, obviously. So is it a joke? Is it not? Whos he talking about? We dont know, he said. And which is why its important for people to know that these emails that we got, theyre from the Epstein estate, right? We got these emails through a subpoena through the estate, and it pales in comparison to what the Department of Justice has to get us as a committee.Related: House Oversight chair calls Robert Garcia 'drama queen' for releasing Epstein birthday bookGarcia said the missing DOJ records are essential to understanding the emails and testimony the committee has already collected. Theres a massive cover-up at the White House and the DOJ right now over the files, he said. Those are the documents that we need for us to fill in the blanks and actually put this together. The interview came the same day Trump said he would direct the DOJ to investigate Clinton, former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, and others named in Epstein-related communications.Donald Trump is clearly panicked, Garcia said. Hes obviously obsessed with hiding the files, and he has the power to release them today. If he wants real justice for the survivors, he should release the files today. In a written statement released to the public, Garcia added: Our Oversight investigation has Donald Trump panicked and desperate. He is trying to deflect from serious new questions we have about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. The President has not explained why he wont release the files to the American people. Or why sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell was moved to a cushy low-security prison after her interview with Trumps former personal lawyer.Related: Donald Trump's niece says 'thats definitely his signature' on Jeffrey Epstein's cardGarcia told The Advocate that Trump and his allies spent years using Epstein as political ammunition, only to resist the very transparency they once demanded. Donald Trump spent his entire campaign JD Vance, the MAGAverse just talking about the Epstein files and promising their release, he said. He pointed to Attorney General Pam Bondis February event billed as a release of documents, when far-right influencers paraded around binders with no new information, which did not include the records in question. And then we find out that Donald Trump doesnt want them released, he said. You cant go all in on something and then do a complete flip and not have the question asked why, Garcia continued. Why did this happen? Why are they now refusing to release the files? I think it begs real questions. What are they hiding? And I think thats the moment that were in right now.Newsweek reported Friday that Mark Epstein told the outlet the Bubba he mentioned in the 2018 email was not Clinton, though he did not clarify who he meant.Related: Democrat Ro Khanna on the future of the Epstein files, redistricting, and recent comments about free speechAbigail Jackson, a White House spokesperson, told The Advocate that, These emails prove literally nothing. She added, Democrats and the mainstream media are desperately trying to use this hoax as a distraction to talk about anything other than Democrats getting utterly defeated by President Trump in the shutdown fight. According to an AP/NORC poll released Wednesday, 62 percent of Americans disapprove of Trumps job performance, with only 36 percent approval."We wont be distracted, and the entire Administration will continue fulfilling the promises the President was elected on, including cutting the Biden-era price hikes, Jackson concluded.

Amanda Lepore and 'milkman' Marcos Pedraza star in 'Lactose by Lepore'
Now serving Lactose by Lepore, delivered by Marcos the Milkman.Creative producer and photographer Gregory Farrell brought together the legendary Amanda Lepore and the certified heartthrob Marcos Pedraza for a shoot like no other."Marcos told me that he wanted to be photographed with Amanda Lepore," Farrell tells Out. "While brainstorming, I kept envisioning Marcos as a milkman. It was becoming comical; I had no idea why I kept seeing him as a milkman. We shoot often, and we tend to push the limits, but this was our craziest photo shoot yet."Farrell adds, "It became clear as day as I was running in the park: Amanda Lepore holding her own special milk. I started to see the intimate relationship between Amanda Lepore and 'Marcos the Milkman' unfold."In this photo shoot feature, Out interviews Farrell, Amanda Lepore, and Marcos Pedraza a.k.a. @MarcosFromThe305 on social media about the different perspectives and campy vision that brought "Lactose by Lepore" to life.Marcos Pedraza: "'Lactose by Lepore' is a metaphor for something much bigger: The aura of Amanda Lepore. She is a magical woman, and anyone who meets her can attest to that. There is nobody quite like Amanda Lepore. If it was truly possible to bottle up Amanda's presence I know the world would demand it in a heartbeat. As 'Marcos the Milkman,' it is my responsibility to deliver it to the people."Gregory Farrell: "I have always been attracted to juxtapositions in artwork, such as making things shocking yet remaining tasteful. Amanda's special milk being her own breastmilk as a trans woman is a powerful, yet playful, statement to what is going on in the world right now. It invites conversations to be held in a camp way. If it was actually possible to bottle Amanda's aura, the world would become beyond addicted."Lepore tells Out that working with Farrell in this photo shoot was "fun and effortless."Gregory Farrell: "From body image to pushing boundaries in the art world, there isn't a single thing that Amanda Lepore hasn't accomplished. That's why she's such an icon. To this day, the MAC Cosmetics campaign where she covers herself in pink lipstick plays on rotation in my head. She is the O.G. Doll. Amanda Lepore fought for her presence to be respected in all rooms, and did it with a smile on her face. She is one of the nicest people I've ever worked with, and she is a mother to many in her community. Amanda Lepore is forever that girl."Besides this shoot, Lepore and Pedraza both starred in Chris Klimovski's short film Attagirl! released earlier this year.Marcos Pedraza: "Working with Amanda is always a great time. She has such a calm energy about her It's very welcoming, and it's not something you come across too often in this industry. It's very inspiring to observe how she conducts herself on set. She's a true icon, and you can see that distinctively when she's on set. I hope I work with Amanda Lepore many more times in the future."Born and raised in New Jersey, Farrell eventually bounced from New York City to Los Angeles, and now resides in Miami. The 30-year-old creative producer specializes in brand identity, but is a jack-of-all-trades whose work has encompassed imagery, videos, music, and writing. From taking pictures of nature as a child, Farrell's passion for photography became a career and evolved into portraiture after he moved to New York and graduated from Parsons School of Design. Over the years, Farrell has notably worked with David LaChapelle.Gregory Farrell: "Marcos and I flew to New York City and made it happen. The pre-production day felt heaven-sent; everything worked out for us. From finding the props to sourcing the 'Milkman' attire, it felt easy and magical. I've been photographing Amanda Lepore in nightlife over the years, but to have this opportunity to photograph her for such a crazy concept It felt out of this world. Since working with David LaChapelle and seeing his entire studio filled with images of his muse, it felt like a full circle moment to create artwork of my own with Amanda Lepore."Pedraza had a rather different journey leading up to his collaborations with Lepore and Farrell, starring in short films, and modeling in conceptual fashion shoots. Born in Havana, Cuba, he immigrated to Miami at seven years old, and he is now 27. Originally known for going viral with steamy pictures on X/Twitter (821,000 followers) and dancing videos on TikTok (1.3 million followers), he is now expanding his career through acting and modeling opportunities."It feels surreal sometimes," Pedraza says when asked how he's personally feeling about having such a breakout year in 2025. "Living in a digital realm where people try to view artwork as content, things get easily reviewed and dismissed. It takes a question like this for me to really reflect on the building blocks that are being laid out in front of me. As I look back on this past year, I'm so happy to be creating, growing, and evolving into new opportunities. I am making my dreams turn into reality."Pedraza is currently signed as a creator onto UltraViolet a platform that connects him to his audience and grows his personal brand through community. In our interview, Pedraza tells Out that he loves modeling and acting, and is therefore exploring "new developments" in those areas.Gregory Farrell: "There is something special about Marcos that separates him from other creatives. He has a mysterious, sexy, and confident presence. People are inspired by him. Marcos sets trends on TikTok and influences a lot of guys finding their way on the platform. He also creates his own lane by showcasing his talents with acting and modeling in these conceptual shoots. People should also stay tuned for what Marcos is cooking up in the music studio. It's fire!"Marcos Pedraza: "Greg is such a talented, creative individual. He pushes me to new boundaries and has helped me tap into my creative side. His work inspires me, and I know it inspires others, too. Greg always creates a safe, fun environment, which makes shooting that much more enjoyable. I always trust the visions and ideas that he brings me.""He is really relaxed and down to Earth. Really easy to work with," Lepore says about Pedraza.Pedraza's story isn't entirely foreign to Lepore. After all, she also took the unusual path of becoming a fixture in New York City nightlife in the 1990s and then built up her careers in modeling, acting, and music.Over the years, Lepore established herself even further through collaborations with David LaChapelle. She eventually became an NYC fixture who orbited at the intersection of nightlife, art, and fashion. Eventually, LaChapelle started referring to Lepore as his muse.Gregory Farrell: "I consider Marcos as my muse. He's down to earth and our dynamic is exciting. We're always laughing, and that's a great foundation to operate from. It's so cool to know that he trusts me with my ideas. This specific project pushed the limits of our creativity, and it definitely took some explaining as to why I needed him to become a milkman. [Laughs.] There is nothing that Marcos and I can't create together; this shoot is only the beginning of what is to yet to come."As Pedraza's online following continues to grow, it's worth noting that some of these new followers happen to be pretty famous people. But when asked if he's had any interactions with those celebrities that he'd be willing to share, Pedraza keeps it low-key.Marcos Pedraza: "Let's just say I've had a few, but I like to keep those moments private. Celebrities are normal people to me, like everybody else. The greener grass just comes with more allergies."Looking ahead, what would be Pedraza's ultimate dream job or career?Marcos Pedraza: "I want to be in a horror movie. I love film, especially horror classics. To be in something like that, in modern day, would be a dream come true."As one of the biggest pop culture icons of all time who's still as unstoppable as ever does Lepore have a message to share with the world?Amanda Lepore: "Be your true self. Do things that make yourself happy and confident. Support each other!"

Did Donald Trump have sex with Bill Clinton? Bizarre Epstein email has everyone wondering
Who is Bubba, and why did Trump blow him? Thats the question from one X user among thousands posed on social media Friday, after an email exchange between sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein and his brother surfaced, which references Donald Trump and an unknown individual named Bubba. Mark Epstein wrote back. And I thought I had tsuris, Jeffrey Epstein replied, using the Yiddish word for troubles. The unearthed email exchange, one among more than 20,000 released by the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday, has thrown more fuel on the fire of the so-called Epstein Hoax dogging President Trump and Republicans. The Bubba emails ignited a firestorm of speculation online Friday about the identity of the person purportedly caught on camera in flagrante delicto with Trump, with most zeroing in on former President Bill Clinton, well known in his Arkansas days as Bubba. Pam Bondi, and the Department of Justice, together with our great patriots at the FBI, to investigate Jeffrey Epsteins involvement and relationship with Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, Reid Hoffman, J.P. Morgan, Chase, and many other people and institutions, to determine what was going on with them, and him, Trump wrote. The move was classic Trump divert and deflect, likely motivated by his social feeds awash in prurient posts mocking him and others asking, Is Trump gay?For the record, Mark Epstein denies that the Bubba nickname refers to the former president, though he wouldnt elaborate on who Bubba really is.That didnt matter to the internet.Socials were awash in lewd memes and observations about the purported presidential fellatio, a few more subtle than others. This is a lot to digest read one. Analyst says Trump will make desperate moves as he faces political mortality
On a recent episode of The Daily Beast Podcast, columnist David Rothkopf predicted that Donald Trump will soon become irrelevant to the GOP, and that the presidents own realization of this bleak future will inevitably trigger acts of desperation from the soon-to-be lame duck. After years of bowing to his every whim, Republicans have finally started to break with the president on certain issues. Related Oy vey: Analyst says Trumps dismal economic approval ratings are political nightmare fuel This is perhaps most notably true of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who until now has always been one of his most fervent allies. Greene has been a vocal critic of the partys handling of the shutdown and, along with Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Nancy Mace (R-SC), has repeatedly called on the administration to release the Epstein files. Multiple Republicans in the Senate have also voted against certain Trump tariffs. His political mortality is right around the corner, Rothkopf said. And there is going to come a moment, and I dont know when that moment is, but there is going to come a moment where the majority of people in the Republican Party say, Hes a lame duck, whos next?' Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. Subscribe to our Newsletter today More than anything else in the world, Rothkopf emphasized, Trump craves attention and relevance, so losing it will cause him to make a desperate play. Trump likely knows his power is waning, Rothkopf said, which may be fueling his cat-and-mouse game over whether he will try to run for a third term unconstitutionally. Its just a desperate attempt to cling to relevance, Rothkopf explained. Its the policy equivalent of a trophy wife. It makes him feel younger. He predicted the people who may try to take Trumps place leading the party include Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. My guess is that youre gonna get something different, he said, like Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R), who is still very conservative but has shown to break with Trump and thus can market himself as a change, Rothkopf said. And its not only politicians who are getting fed up with Trump. CNNs chief data analyst Harry Enten recently declared that Donald Trump is doing absolutely awful in the minds of the American people, hitting new lows in polls.Enten took viewers through various polls that showed the presidents record-low net approval ratings on the economy. And in a separate segment, out MSNBC host Rachel Maddow declared, Donald Trump has never been more unpopular than he is right now. She explained that his disapproval rating is higher than it was in the immediate aftermath of January 6th.Citing an ABC/Washington Post Poll, Maddow added that Americans disapprove of him on everything, from his handling of Israel and Gaza (minus 6 points) to his approach to crime (minus 11 points) to his immigration policies (minus 13 points) to his handling of foreign relations (minus 19 points) to the economy (minus 25 points) to the handling of the Russia-Ukraine War (minus 21 points) to his management of the federal government (minus 27 points) to his tariffs (minus 32 points).Additionally, 48% of Americans say Trump has made America weaker, compared to 33% who feel he has made it stronger. Maddow also cited an NBC poll that asked, Do you consider yourself to be a supporter of the No Kings protest movement? and was dumbfounded by the absolutely stunning response.Approximately 43% said yes, which she said means not only does the base of support for the No Kings movement absolutely dwarf the base of support for MAGA in this country, but in absolute terms it also means that support for the No Kings movement against Trump, its just huge.I mean 43% of this country, she mused. Thats 147 million people. I think were gonna need a bigger boat.In contrast, 30% said they support the MAGA movement, and Maddow added that number has been dropping hard since Trump has been back in office.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Caitlyn Jenner is begging for money online after legal fallout from her memecoin
Reality TV star and former gubernatorial candidate Caitlyn Jenner is now asking her supporters to send her money to support her legal defense fund in response to a lawsuit against her for alleged financial malfeasance.I have been named a defendant in a lawsuit re: the $Jenner memecoins, alleging securities violations, she posted to X, linking a crowdfunding campaign. Lets all be freedom maximalist. Two people Nazeem Azad of the United Kingdom and Nihai Caluseru of Romania alleged that they would not have bought the meme coin if not for Jenners actions, which included that she fraudulently solicited financially unsophisticated investors throughout the United States and abroad to purchase the unregistered securities. Jenner promoted the memecoin widely last year, encouraging people to buy it, possibly to increase its value so she could sell her own holdings of it at a high price and then abandon it. For example, she posted a Pride Month picture in June 2024 and then followed it up with, Now the question is whether to build a gayfolio for [Pride] month? I mean is any gayfolio actually complete without $Jenner on $ETH ? CoinMarketCap shows that the total market value of $Jenner hit around $6 million in July last year before dropping to around $200,000 by September and never recovering. The lawsuit alleges that Jenner stopped talking up the memecoin after using her celebrity status to promote it for several months. Jenner made a statement in September in which she mocked someone who lost their life savings because of the meme coin. Why would you put your life savings into a meme coin? Sorry you dont believe in me anymore :( but its all good! We arent going anywhere. Now, Jenner is posting to X that she needs help paying the legal bills associated with the lawsuit. The case is the tip of the spear, and I am vigorously defending myself, she wrote. A motion to dismiss the case, filed by my attorneys at Winston & Strawn, explaining many of the reasons the case fails, is attached. Jenner made headlines when she started her campaign for governor of California in 2021 and discussed her private jets in her air hangar in Malibu with Sean Hannity. She couldnt stop bringing up the topic in the early campaign interview. For example, Hannity asked her why shes running for governor, and she responded with a story about how the person who owns the hangar next to her hangar doesnt like to see homeless people: My hangar the guy right across, he was packing up his hangar and I said, Where are you going? And he says, Im moving to Sedona, Arizona, I cant take it anymore. I cant walk down the streets and see the homeless. HRC drops deadly weapons manufacturers Northrup Grumman and Raytheon as corporate sponsors
Following a years-long campaign from supporters and detractors, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the countrys largest LGBTQ+ advocacy group, has dropped arms merchants Northrop Grumman and RTX (formerly Raytheon Corporation) from its list of donors.A statement from HRC provided to The Intercept said that the two weapons manufacturers no longer sponsor the group, but refrained from addressing when or how the relationships ended. Related This years Pride parades met a new opponent: pro-Palestinian LGBTQ+ protestors HRC described the change as in keeping with the advocacy groups long-held stances against extremism.Northrop Grumman and Raytheons financial support for the Human Rights Campaign extends back decades. In 2025, Northrop held the groups highest rating of 100 on the HRCs Equality Index, while HRC praised Raytheons track record on trans protections as far back as 2005. More than 1,200 Israelis and foreign nationals died in the terrorist assault, with 251 taken hostage.Groups advocating for Palestinians accused HRC of complicity in Israels brutal response in the war on Gaza. Both Northrop and Raytheon are major arms suppliers for Israel. Virginia-based Northrop, the worlds third largest arms manufacturer, supplies the Israeli military with a wide variety of weapons, including various missile systems, according to theAction Center for Corporate Accountability, a project of the American Friends Service Committee.Nearly 70,000 Palestinians have died in the Gaza conflict, based on estimates from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, and at least 20,000 children are among the dead. A tenuous ceasefire negotiated in September hasnt stopped the killing.HRC referred to the Gaza conflict and the Trump administration in its statement addressing the breakup with the companies. While our focus is on LGBTQ+ equality in the United States, we have spoken out about the crisis, the rising cost of extremism in the United States and around the globe and how Islamophobia, anti-semitism and anti-LGBTQ hatred are globally linked, a spokesperson for HRC said. We have also championed the right to protest here in the United States, as it and other pro-democratic principles are being undermined and threatened by this administration. Two groups associated with the pressure campaign to end HRCs ties to the companies praised the concerted effort and its result. The Gender Liberation Movement and Adalah Justice Project commended the work of ACT UP New York, Writers Against the War on Gaza and many others in the LGBTQ+ community, including former HRC employees in the two-year campaign, and declared, Organizations like HRC can no longer prioritize proximity to power over the well-being of our people, nor center inclusion in the very systems that are killing us.Freedom, equality, and justice for our queer and trans siblings here can only be achieved when we collectively confront the systems that are harming communities everywhere, the groups said. These are tools of state-sanctioned destruction and death, not of human rights or equality, and they do not distinguish between queer and straight lives. Critics had accused HRC of complicity in pinkwashing for Northrup and Raytheon, publicly burnishing the arms makers reputations domestically while they provided Israel with weapons of war and Palestinian subjugation.Queer celebrities joined the pressure campaign to stop HRC from taking the arms merchants money, and for Israel to stop the killing.Initiatives that are meant to benefit us are being funded by a weapons manufacturer. Not cute, not queer, actor Indya Moore told a crowd of demonstrators at a February 2024 protest outside HRCs annual gala. Referring to Northrop, they added, Their bullets, their bombs, and their missiles are massacring Palestinians who are also queer and trans and deserving of a human rights campaign.Bisexual actress and stand-up Hannah Einbinder used her Emmy acceptance speech in March to call for a free Palestine, and then joined a boycott of Israeli film institutions implicated in the Gaza war and apartheid against the Palestinian people.Until last year, Northrop Grumman was listed as a Platinum Partner with HRC, the groups highest level of corporate sponsorship.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Sources reveal staggering cost of changing the Pentagons name to Department of War
Six sources who spoke with NBC News believe the Trump administrations insistence on renaming the Department of Defense to the Department of War could cost a whopping $2 billion. The new name currently remains secondary to the original, as a true name change must be approved by Congress. But after Trump signed an executive order announcing the new moniker, the Pentagon immediately changed its social handles and website URL to match. Additionally, a sign outside the office of Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth identifies it as The Office of the Secretary of War. Related Republican congresswoman rages at Democrats for bringing up their eight-week vacation The order also directed all executive branch departments to use the Department of War title in internal and external communications. It also claimed, The name Department of War, more than the current Department of Defense, ensures peace through strength, as it demonstrates our ability and willingness to fight and win wars on behalf of our Nation at a moments notice, not just to defend.A full name change would require significant labor to change the thousands of signs, letterhead, plaques, and the like around the world that currently say Department of Defense. Subscribe to our Newsletter today The expert sources identified as two senior Republican congressional staffers, two senior Democratic congressional staffers, and two other people briefed on the potential cost said one of the biggest costs of a name overhaul would lie in the need to rewrite code for department websites and software across both its classified and unclassified systems. The sources also said it could cost $1 billion just to change the departments signage and letterhead. At the same time, the Trump administration has reportedly made no meaningful effort to push legislation through Congress to achieve an official name change. In September, a group of Senate Democrats wrote to the Congressional Budget Office to request a cost assessment of changing the name even secondarily, slamming the new title as risking confusion, redundancy, and unnecessary cost expenditure.Given the Trump administrations repeated emphasis on fiscal restraint this symbolic renaming is both wasteful and hypocritical, they said. It appears to prioritize political theater over responsible governance, while diverting resources from core national security functions.Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnellblamed the Democrat shutdown for a lack of information on total costs. The Department of War is aggressively implementing the name change directed by President Trump, and is making the name permanent, he said in a statement to NBC News. A final cost estimate has not been determined at this time due to the Democrat shutdown furloughing many of our critical civilians. A nod to our proud heritage, this change is essential because it reflects the Departments core mission: winning wars. This has always been our mission, and while we hope for peace, we will prepare for war.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Sugar, Spice, no longer nice? Drag Race twin goes soloshares new name
Sugar and Spice, the twin contestants of RuPaul's Drag Race season 15 who were the most-followed drag artists on TikTok for several years, have officially gone their separate ways. Over the weekend, Sugar shared a statement announcing her new drag name, explaining the reasons behind the rebrand, and seemingly hinting at how bad things had gotten with Spice as they continued to present themselves as a duo.Sugar wrote, "Introducing Sugar Solay. Not just a name change, but a re-birth and arrival of the individualized light that's been lying dormant inside of my me.""For the past few years, I've grown to feel disconnected from the initial 'y2k bimbo' character I was hiding behind," the Drag Race star added, clearly referencing the Y2K bimbo personas that she presented as one half of Sugar and Spice. "I knew there was much more to my consciousness as an artist, and it was up to me to do the inner work and unlock my own divinity. Solay was waiting for me until I awoke to my true essence and broke free from the fear of being seen as my spiritual and whimsical self."Sugar then revealed her inspirations behind the new drag name. "Solay is a re-spelling of the French name Soleil which means the sun and represents warmth + positivity. I will always be the Sugar of 'Sugar and Spice,' but Solay is my own personal extension of source energy. She's the gift I have received for committing to my higher, most aligned path. She's been the sun in my darkest moments and now I'm ready to share her with you all I hope I can lead the way for other blocked creatives/aspiring artists to reclaim their own magnificence. It's never too late." See on Instagram The statement was shared along with a video of Sugar performing "Headlock" by Imogen Heap. Besides Sugar's lip sync performance, the video included what seems to be a comment from a fan named Roby. The comment reads, "Oh Sugar Solay woke something up inside of you cause she's taking IT [light blue heart emoji]."Sugar also shared the post via Instagram Story, writing:"For those asking, my new drag name is Sugar Solay [sun emoji]. I wrote about the name change in the caption of this video. [sparkling emoji]. I'm still working on getting my @ name updated on here, so if anyone has a Meta [parent company to Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp] connect lmk!" Sugar Solay via Instagram Story.Instagram (@sugarsworld)Sugar and Spice walked into the Drag Race werk room as two of the most-followed queens across social media platforms a remarkable feat for U.S. queens who hadn't yet been on Drag Race at all. As the competition went on, the twins were perceived by the fans and their season 15 sisters as somewhat immature but ultimately innocuous, though they did try to quit the show together instead of lip syncing for their lives and being separated by a decision from Mama Ru of who got to stay and who had to sashay away.In Untucked, eventual crowned winner Sasha Colby was shown talking them off a proverbial ledge and insisting that it would be unfair to their experience on the show if they simply gave up and didn't allow whoever got to stay to complete her own Drag Race run. Despite Sasha's wise advice, the twins moved forward with their paired-up choreographed lip sync rather than engaging in an actual lip sync for your life where each queen attempts to outperform the other. But as the twins' chaotic performance to "You Better Run" by Pat Benatar ended, RuPaul told Spice to stay and asked Sugar to sashay away effectively ending her journey in episode 4. Spice continued in the competition until episode 9.Now, it appears that the twins themselves are choosing to sashay away from each other in pursuit of an "individualized light that's been lying dormant" inside at least one of them. Welcome to the (post-Y2K bimbo) stage, Sugar Solay!

Utahs oldest gay bar at risk as employees clash with owner over unionizing
The SunTrapp, a tiny Salt Lake City gay bar thats also Utahs oldest, remains closed amid a dispute between the owner and employees over unionizing. Both the owner, Mary Peterson, and striking employees claim theyre hoping to find a path forward, yet the bar remains shuttered. Related Locals rally to designate legendary gay bar a historic landmark & save it from demolition A notice went out on Instagram announcing the closure on Halloween. Employees call the bars shutdown a negotiating stunt. Never Miss a Beat Subscribe to our newsletter to stay ahead of the latest LGBTQ+ political news and insights. Subscribe to our Newsletter today Peterson says they have not been able to move forward with unionizing during the shutdown; the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), which facilitates union votes, is a federal agency. That might change soon with the government reopening, but excuses still abound in the months-long saga.Employees say theyve been talking about organizing since Peterson bought the bar last year. She said its too small to unionize. But there is no floor on the number of employees who can organize at a business, and Peterson later admitted in a Facebook video that she was ignorant about union rules. That fact sowed much of the mistrust employees feel today about Petersons motives: When a group of organizers approached her with their union demand in September, she fired them. That decision was illegal, according to the NLRB. But despite being hired back, the damage was done, according to employees.Peterson balked at their demands, so they went on strike before a formal agreement was reached. They picketed on Friday and Saturday nights for weeks. In her Facebook post, Peterson described herself as a victim of efforts by organizers to depict her as a greedy capitalist. An accountant by trade, Peterson said she had the previous bar owners as clients, and even got her daughter a job at The SunTrapp as she was coming to terms with her sexuality.I never, ever wanted to buy a bar. That was never my goal, never my dream, she said.Nevertheless, she felt a pull to realize the bars potential, she said. Now the SunTrapp is in danger of closing for good.Peterson may or may not have come to terms with her staffs unionizing efforts. In the Halloween closure statement, she said, I want to be clear that I support the rights of all employees to choose whether they want to join a union. The business was committed to engaging in the next step, she said, which would have been the secret ballot election conducted by the NLRB.Unfortunately, because of the government shutdown, the National Labor Relations Board was closed and the election process was stopped, she said. Then Peterson blamed the striking staff for her inability to stay open.Sadly, the financial impact of consistent protests has made it impossible for us to remain open. As such, we will be closing the SunTrapp on October 31st, 2025. Peterson didnt mention the fact shed hired scab workers to replace those walking the picket line.Natalie Jankowski, a lead bartender at The SunTrapp and a member of the SunTrapp Workers United organizing committee, told the Salt Lake Tribune that she and other union members believe Peterson doesnt support their rights as theyve worked to unionize with Communications Workers of America Local 7765.Their lawyer went back and forth with Petersons attorney, unsuccessfully requesting a meeting as they picketed. She closed down instead of talking with us, Jankowski said. Pete Buttigieg trades barbs with MAGA congressman
Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg will be in Wisconsin next week to campaign against a rightwing member of Congress, and the two are already exchanging insults on social media.Next Tuesday, Buttigieg will be hosting a town hall event in La Crosse, Wisconsin, which is in the states third congressional district, currently represented by Rep. Trumps damage to the federal government may be easily reversible when he leaves office
New analysis by Axios suggests that Donald Trump may not have as lasting an impact on the federal government as it seems. While the president has managed to do a whole lot of damage in the first year of his second term, one thing he has not done is translate his ideas and policies into laws, the report explains. Related Trump slammed as dumbest person alive for utterly out-of-touch take on mortgages The columnists, Jim Vandehei and Mike Allen, call it the Santa and Grinch presidency, defined as a tenure in which almost every day reveals a new promise to give something of financial value to a nation, group or individual or take it away. But those promises have rarely transpired into legislation. Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. Subscribe to our Newsletter today This reality reflects Trumps improvisational and dealmaking impulses, Vandehei and Allen explain. But it also means that a lot of what he does will be easily reversible. Many of the administrations policies or proposed policies have come to fruition through Trump merely musing about them in interviews or on Truth Social, the authors say, pointing to a recent post of his claiming that a $2,000 dividend from his tariffs will be paid to each American who is not high-income. Out Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent made it clear in an interview shortly after that he and the president had not discussed a plan for this. Tariffs, they continue, have also not been approved by Congress, making them vulnerable to nullification in court, and even his announcement that pharmaceutical companies will lower the cost of GLP-1 weight loss medication took place due to pressure he put on the corporations, not the law.He has attacked health insurance companies in recent days and over the weekend called for Americans toreceive cash directlywith which to buy health insurance, they write, but he hasnt engaged in negotiations with congressional Democrats over extending Affordable Care Act subsidies that currently help millions afford insurance thecore of the shutdown fight. The bottom line:Almost all of Trumpsastonishing expansions of precedent-stretching presidential power flow not from law, or even congressional approval. Its just Trump doingwhathe wantstowhoever he wantswhenhe wants. As a result, they argue, it may not be as difficult as it seems to undo some of the messes the Trump administration has made.Of course, certain institutions will need a lot of TLC if Democrats can indeed take back power, but these columnists believe that at least some of the administrations anti-democratic actions can be undone with the slam of a gavel or stroke of a pen.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

The Digital Closet: Why Many LGBTQ+ People Are Out Online but Not Offline
For many LGBTQ+ people today, coming out isnt a single moment its something they navigate differently depending on whos watching. A growing number of queer individuals feel fully themselves online while remaining cautious, private, or closeted in their offline lives. This experience, often called the digital closet, is becoming more common as social media, gaming platforms, and online communities offer safer spaces to explore identity. The digital closet isnt about dishonesty. Its about survival, self-protection, and the need for connection in a world where safety varies from one environment to another. Why the Digital Closet ExistsThe internet has become one of the few places where many LGBTQ+ people feel free. Online, they can choose their communities, control their visibility, and open up at their own pace. But offline, things can feel very different. Family expectations, cultural or religious pressures, unsafe living situations, or workplace concerns often create environments where being out doesnt feel possible. For some, staying closeted in person is a temporary step while they build confidence or gain independence. For others, its a necessary boundary that keeps them safe. The contrast between digital expression and offline silence doesnt mean theyre confused it means theyre navigating two realities with different risks.Online Spaces Make Authenticity EasierOnline communities give people room to breathe in ways the real world sometimes doesnt. Whether its TikTok, Twitch, Tumblr, gaming servers, or private Discord groups, these spaces allow queer people to test language, explore pronouns, connect with others, and express themselves without fear of being judged by people in their physical environment. This freedom can be healing. It can help someone understand who they are long before theyre ready to share it with everyone. For many, this online identity becomes a lifeline a place where theyre seen, affirmed, and connected. The Emotional Cost of Living Two LivesWhile the digital closet can offer safety, it can also create emotional strain. Switching between online me and offline me takes energy. Some people worry about being discovered accidentally, while others feel guilt for being out in one place but not another. There can also be grief a longing for the day when both versions of themselves can merge into one. This tension doesnt mean someone is living inauthentically. It means theyre waiting for the right moment to be fully open, or protecting their mental health in the only way they can right now. What Support Looks LikeSupport is not about pushing someone to come out faster. Its about giving them space to decide whats right for them. A supportive environment acknowledges that safety, readiness, and independence shape each persons journey. Encouragement sounds like:Im here for you, however you choose to show up.Not:You need to come out.Therapy can play a huge role, especially for those trying to manage fear, anxiety, or pressure from multiple angles. Affirming conversations help people understand that being fully themselves isnt about where theyre out its about having the freedom to choose when and how to share their truth.Blending Online and Offline Identities at Your Own PaceFor many, there comes a moment when the online self begins to feel too big, too real, too important to keep hidden. That transition doesnt have to be dramatic or sudden. It can be slow, intentional, and guided by support. Small steps telling one trusted friend, using preferred pronouns with safe people, finding affirming local spaces can help bridge the gap. When both identities finally meet, it often brings a deep sense of relief. But the timing belongs entirely to the person living it.A New Way of Understanding Coming OutThe digital closet is a reminder that coming out has never been one-size-fits-all. Today, being out online is often the first chapter, not the last. Its a way to discover language, build confidence, test boundaries, and feel supported long before the offline world is ready.Living two lives doesnt make someone less authentic. It makes them resourceful. And as long as safety remains unequal, the digital closet will continue to be a vital space of survival and self-discovery for countless LGBTQ+ people. The post The Digital Closet: Why Many LGBTQ+ People Are Out Online but Not Offline appeared first on LGBTQ and ALL.

Understanding the Connection Between Being Neurodivergent & Queer
More and more people are talking about the strong connection between neurodivergence and LGBTQ identity. Many queer individuals also identify as autistic, ADHD, OCD, or otherwise neurodivergent. This overlap isnt random or new it reflects experiences that both communities share, especially around identity, expression, and mental health. Understanding this intersection is essential for improving LGBTQ neurodivergent mental health, recognizing barriers, and creating more affirming support. These identities often overlap.Studies increasingly show that LGBTQ+ people are more likely to be neurodivergent, and neurodivergent individuals are more likely to identify as LGBTQ+. Both groups tend to move through the world in ways that challenge traditional expectations. Neurodivergent people often question norms because they dont automatically absorb them, while queer people challenge norms simply by existing authentically. When these experiences intersect, they can create a deeper sense of self-awareness and a more natural openness to identity exploration.Masking affects both groups.Masking is the act of hiding parts of yourself to appear acceptable or avoid harm. It shows up differently depending on the context, but the emotional impact is similar. Neurodivergent individuals may mask by forcing certain social behaviours, while LGBTQ+ people may mask their identity, relationships, or gender expression to feel safer. For those who are both queer and neurodivergent, masking layers on top of masking. This can lead to exhaustion, anxiety, and a chronic feeling of not being fully seen. Creating environments where people can unmask without fear is one of the most powerful ways to support LGBTQ neurodivergent mental health.Neurodivergence shapes gender and sexuality exploration. Many neurodivergent people describe experiencing gender and sexuality with fewer filters. Traditional labels, rules, or expectations may simply feel irrelevant. Someone who is autistic or ADHD may question social norms because those norms never made sense to begin with. This freedom to think differently makes it easier to explore identity without feeling pressured to fit into boxes. Neurodivergence doesnt cause queerness rather, it creates room for authenticity in ways that structured or rigid systems never did.Living with both identities impacts mental health.People who are both queer and neurodivergent often face unique mental health challenges. Anxiety and depression may increase when someone is constantly navigating systems that misunderstand their communication style, sensory needs, or identity. Some LGBTQ+ spaces may unintentionally expect neurotypical behaviour, while some neurodivergent spaces may feel heteronormative or cisnormative. This can create a sense of being caught between worlds. At the same time, understanding ones neurodivergence and LGBTQ identity together can offer clarity, reduce shame, and support healing.Support makes a real difference.Mental health support is most effective when it acknowledges the whole person not just their identity or diagnosis separately. Therapists who understand both queerness and neurodivergence can help clients explore communication patterns, reduce masking, navigate relationship dynamics, and build coping strategies tailored to their sensory or emotional needs. When support is affirming and informed, people can show up more authentically and feel more grounded in who they are.Community helps people feel understood.Feeling understood is one of the most healing experiences available to LGBTQ neurodivergent individuals. Community spaces whether online, in support groups, through peer circles, or within chosen family offer room to express needs without apology. People can share lived experiences, decompress from masking, and find comfort in being around others who understand both queer identity and neurodivergence. These spaces offer emotional safety, validation, and an important reminder: you are not alone.Final ThoughtsThe intersection of LGBTQ identity and neurodivergence is rich, complex, and deeply human. It shapes how people see themselves, how they navigate the world, and how they experience mental health. When we recognize the connection, we create more space for understanding, compassion, and care. For anyone who identifies as both queer and neurodivergent, your experience is real and valid and you deserve support that embraces every part of who you are.The post Understanding the Connection Between Being Neurodivergent & Queer appeared first on LGBTQ and ALL.
