French Polynesia: Where LGBTQ+ inclusivity is a way of life
Before visiting French Polynesia, I had no idea what to expect regarding LGBTQ+ inclusivity. Of course, I did the Is it safe for gays to visit? Google search because Ive heard one too many horror stories about idyllic tropical islands being less than idyllic for LGBTQ+ travelers. While some places make their stance clear with rainbow flags and stickers on storefronts, here, its different not because LGBTQ+ people arent welcome, but because openness is ingrained in the culture. Theres no need to advertise whats already understood: French Polynesia is for everyone.A natural embrace of identityAlso known as the Islands of Tahiti, French Polynesia is a collection of 118 islands in the South Pacific spread across an area the size of Europe. Despite its remote location, its surprisingly accessible, with direct flights from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Paris, Auckland, and Tokyo. The largest island, Tahiti, is home to the capital, Papeete, where most journeys begin. When I arrived, I noticed something distinct the mh (a traditional third gender in Polynesian culture) and rae-rae (a more modern term often referring to trans women) are respected members of society.I saw this firsthand at Le Tahiti by Pearl Resorts (letahiti.com), where mh staff were working throughout the hotel, and a Marquesan dance show featured mh performers exuding confidence and grace. Their presence wasnt tokenistic it was simply part of life here.No Pride flags, just pride in cultureAt first, I wondered why businesses, particularly the LGBTQ-owned ones, didnt display Pride flags, but locals made it clear: Its unnecessary. French Polynesia legalized same-sex marriage in 2013, bans discrimination based on sexual orientation, and takes hate crimes against LGBTQ+ people very seriously. One local put it simply: Everyone is welcome here. Thats just how it is.That said, if youre expecting a big queer nightlife scene, you wont find it here. While the LGBTQ-owned Malabar in Papeete draws a mixed, welcoming crowd, Tahiti isnt a party island its a place to connect with nature, culture, and people.Island-hopping 101During my trip, I split my time between Tahiti, Rangiroa, and Tahaa, each island offering a different experience.Tahiti is vibrant markets filled with fragrant monoi oils, tattoo artists continuing the ancient Polynesian tradition of tatau (which, by the way, is where the word tattoo originates), and waterfalls cascading through lush landscapes.Rangiroa felt like stepping into an entirely different world, where the lagoon was so impossibly clear and blue it looked photoshopped in real life. Staying at Hotel Kia Ora Resort & Spa (hotelkiaora.com) only added to the dreamlike experience beachfront bungalows, an infinity pool overlooking the water, and a swim-up bar that made it far too easy to justify just one more cocktail at sunset. But it was Tahaa that stole my heart. Known as the Vanilla Island, its small, quiet, and intoxicatingly fragrant literally, as the scent of vanilla drifts through the air from the many nearby plantations. I stayed in an overwater bungalow at Le Tahaa by Pearl Resorts (letahaa.com) a fitting choice since French Polynesia is the birthplace of the overwater bungalow. Here, my days consisted of snorkeling in coral gardens, paddleboarding at sunrise, and sipping fresh coconut water on my deck. While in Tahaa, I met a gay couple celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary. They had honeymooned in Bora Bora but decided to explore new islands this time a perfect reminder that French Polynesia always has something new to offer, no matter how many times you visit. As we talked over cocktails, they shared how changing gender here is legal, same-sex couples can adopt, and serving in the military as an LGBTQ+ person isnt an issue. Unlike other places where progress feels like a battle, Tahitis laws quietly reflect a reality that has existed here for quite some time being yourself isnt just tolerated; its respected.Leaving with a new perspectiveIf youre looking for a queer party scene, this isnt it. But if youre seeking a place where you can be yourself without question, where identity isnt debated but simply understood, French Polynesia offers something deeper than acceptance it offers belonging. And thats something Ill take with me long after my tan fades. This trip was funded by Tahiti Tourisme.

  • The Main Cast Of The White Lotus Season 3
    WWW.PRIDE.COM
Here's what happened to every character in our 'White Lotus' S3 finale recap
"There is no resolution to life's questions."Editor's note: This article contains spoilers for the grand finale (episode 8), titled "Amor Fati," of The White Lotus season 3.Sunday's hour-and-a-half season finale of White Lotus was shocking, scandalous, and totally deadly. The opening lines from the monk feel quite ominous as the episode motages over our cast of resorters, so we'll surely have some questions at the end of this..."Hey!"Sam Rockwell completely steals the show the second he's on screen. As Rick (Walter Goggins) leaves the hotel where they've been partying all night, Frank (Rockwell) parkours after him down the hallway and then delivers a "Hey" that will surely become a meme.Rick is determined to get back to the White Lotus resort to see his girlfriend, but it seems he's forgotten that Jim Hollinger, whom he confronted with a gun just last episode, owns that property..."I guess I am spoiled."After Piper (Sarah Catehrine Hook) and Lochlan's (Sam Nivola) night at the monastery, Piper confesses to Victoria (Parker Posey) that perhaps she's not cut out for the Buddhist life. Piper cries over being a "princess who needs things to be a certain way" at breakfast while Victoria gleefully comforts her and pressures her to indulge in the finer things in life."It's okay for you to like worship me, but don't like worship me."Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) continues to ignore Lochlan to the point where he finally just asks him, "Are you mad at me or something?""I'm a pleaser."Lochlan reveals that he does in fact remember their threesome with Chloe, particularly jerking Saxon off, and makes an excuse for the encounter."I just want to give everyone what they want," says Lochlan. "I'm in a family full of narcissists."Saxon does not want to hear it ever and storms off to read his book alone on the beach, which he can do because like he says, "I went to Duke."Chelsea and Rick's reunion.Saxon is still trying to win over Chelsea (Aimee Lou Reed) and shows off that he can read ("I went to Duke.") down by the beach. But all that's for naught because when Rick walks up to the beach, he and Chelsea have a beautiful reunion. Rick reassures Chelsea that he's past the anger. "Well, I didn't kill anyone." He also shares that the confrontation with Jim "got the monkey off my back."Right..."I know you know."Meanwhile, Gaitok not so subtly asks Valentin for the name of his friends, and it's clear that he knows they're behind the robbery in episode two. Instead of staying silent, Valentin begs Gaitok to stay silent. If he's arrested, he'll get deported. They have no way of making money. "If you say something, you're killing me." And for some reason, Gaitok does stay silent? "Don't eat it."Timothy, gunless yet still suicidal, remembers the fruit just outside his window is poisonous and decides to grind up the seed and serve it to his entire family.Saxon's annoying blender will finally be put to good use. "He killed the bitch."Zion and Belinda meet up with Greg Hunt for bribery and negotiations. Zion is ready to play hardball with Greg, hilariously quotes Raisin in the Sun, and, to Belinda's surprise, asks for $5 million. "She's just caught up in the ethics of it all."Zion believes there's enough money here for everyone to get their happy ending and is ready to extort Greg for all he's got. Belinda, who at first plays innocent, exits the room like she's haggling with a car dealership, then sends Zion back in to play hardball. "Do you think you could live with no money?"Timothy's questions feel more pointed than ever, and he's relieved when Lochlan says he can live without their family's money. Now he gets to survive!"I'm so glad we did this."After the chaos of the week, Kate, Laurie, and Jaclyn have dinner and are surprisingly... okay? "Everything is in bloom," Kate gushes, despite them not actually addressing any of their fights or feelings. At first, Laurie seems to be ruminating, but when she finally speaks, the tears flood her eyes. "If I'm being honest, I just feel like all week I've been so sad," she says, confessing that their friendship is one of her only decisions in life that she doesn't second-guess. Seems like quite the fake friendship but hey, as long as they're happy!"That's the plan."Chelsea is so happy Rick is back at the hotel, happy and safe, and when he shares that he intends to spend the rest of his life with her, she starts crying."The coconut milk's off."Timothy feeds his entire family (minus Lochlan) the poisonous Pia Colada and watches in a haze as they all take a sip. Then, after a full season of fantasizing about killing his family, the regret sinks in. "The coconut milk's off!" he exclaims.Tim knocks the glasses out of Saxon's hand, then quickly collects the glasses from his family and dumps their remnants in the sink. Victoria reminds him about the wine right behind him, oblivious to the fact that they were all about to die. $5 million. She gets it. Belinda gets the money. Greg Hunt wires her the $5 million, all in the name of Tanya and keeping the peace. "Good things happen to good people."But her first priority isn't to launch her wellness center, it's to get the hell out of Thailand. Zion asks her, don't you want to start the center with Pornchai? But she seems to have completely forgotten her potential life with the resort worker and is ready to get out of Dodge, effectively putting Pornchai in the same position as Tanya put her in back in Season 1."I remember your mother."The next morning, Jim Hollinger confronts Rick, who is lackadaisically lounging at the White Lotus breakfast buffet instead of going, um, anywhere else, and he delivers the ultimate insult to Rick's mother."I knew she was a drunk and a slut. Didn't know she was a liar to. Wanted you to think your father was some kind of great man. She told you a fairytale kid. Your father was no saint. You didn't miss out on much. And that's the f---ing truth."Rick doesn't take it well, to say the least, and storms off, spiraling. Lochlan makes a smoothie.Lochlan finally decides to make his own protein shake and doesn't bother to clean out the machine from last night. As Victoria, Saxon, and Piper head to breakfast, Lochlan is choking by the pool, and no one even notices as they head out. Lochlan throws up the smoothie before falling over and is dying agonizingly, like he's drowning slowly. As he dies in an underwater dream, he sees four monks looking down at him. Timothy wanders outside to see his son on the ground, unconscious. He sprints over, frantic but helpless, over his dying son. Bad things happen in threes.Rick finally does it. He eyes Jim happily taking photos with Jaclyn, too happily perhaps, and rushes him, swipes Jim's gun, and shoots him twice. As the girls flee the scene, Sritala loses it. "He's your father," she yells at Rick. "He told me! He's your father!"Wait, what? Rick has no time to process the words as Jim's security is after him, and the shootout that opened the season begins. Chelsea runs up behind Rick, desperate for them to escape for their happy ending. But after Rick takes the two guards out, he turns around to see Chelsea on the ground, blood pooling on her chest. She's been caught in the crossfire.Gaitok is activated.Gaitok has finally remembered he's on the clock and sprints into action. He unlocks the security guard's gun and sprints to the scene to find Rick carrying Chelsea in his arms, and Sritala instructs him to shoot Rick.He hesitates, then eventually shoots. Both Rick and Chelsea fall into the water."I think I just saw God."Somehow, Lochlan regains consciousness in Timothy's arms. "I think I just saw God," he tells his father, who he doesn't realize almost accidentally killed up. The death count drops back down to 5: Rick, Chelsea, Jim Hollinger, and the two security guards. "Things are about to change."After one hell of a week, the surviving guests depart the White Lotus Thailand resort. Mook is happy, thrilled even, that Gaitok murdered someone and got a promotion. Her mind... what goes on in there... Jaclyn, Laurie, and Kate are trauma-bonded even more, Valentin and the Russians live happily ever after with absolutely no consequence after holding the jewelry store at gunpoint, Frank is back on the sober wagon and deep in prayer at the monastery, and Belinda and Zion wave Pornchai goodbye $5 million richer.Moments before the Ratliff family turn on their phones for the first time all week, Timothy finally acknowledges the s--- storm coming for them."We'll get through it as a family." And despite fantasizing about their demise all weekend, he looks quite relieved to say it out loud. And that's it. That's season 3 of White Lotus!

Patrick Schwarzenegger on 'White Lotus' incest and Saxon sexuality
Editor's note: This article contains spoilers about season 3 of HBO's The White Lotus. In his first post-finale interview, Patrick Schwarzenegger discussed Saxon's sexual orientation, the incest storyline comparisons between The White Lotus and Game of Thrones, and how he feels about his brother-in-law Chris Pratt watching his naked scenes on the hit HBO series.Right after leaving a screening of The White Lotus season 3 finale, Schwarzenegger opened up about a few hot topics that he can now dive into without the risk of spoiling anything further. For instance, the actor revealed that he did not have any conversations with showrunner Mike White about Saxon's sexual orientation."One of my audition scenes was the scene by the pool, when the two girls are interrogating me saying they didn't force me to kiss my brother," Schwarzenegger told Variety. "I'm like, 'Yeah, you did,' And then they say, 'Well, we didn't make him jerk you off.' At the time, I didn't know if that was them messing with me, or if it had actually happened, until I booked the role. We didn't necessarily have conversations before that."Variety's Matt Donnelly then referenced a recent "I Don't Think So Honey" segment from Matt Rogers on Las Culturistas in which the actor and comedian dragged viewers who are very concerned about the incest on The White Lotus but didn't have as many issues with the long-standing incestuous pairing between Cersei and Jaime Lannister on Game of Thrones.See on InstagramSchwarzenegger reacted to that reference saying that "Game of Thrones was a totally different world. It's a different setting, a period fantasy. This is hitting way harder because it's current."When it came to the argument that more people were upset about The White Lotus incest because it involved two men, Schwarzenegger remarked: "If it's because it's two brothers, or guy-on-guy, I think it's just the current state of what the show is."Speaking of family, the actor was asked about his brother-in-law, Chris Pratt, and his own father, Arnold Schwarzenegger, sharing their candid reactions in the media about seeing Patrick's naked scenes on The White Lotus. Did using prosthetics make it any easier for him to navigate those reactions?"I don't know that it made it easier," Patrick Schwarzenegger told Variety. "But at the end of the day, I'm playing a character. It's uncomfortable, but it's not me. I put my trust in Mike, and he's continuing to push the envelope. I was shocked at how well it worked out."The actor added, "The first four episodes, I had people coming up to me nonstop telling me how much they hated my character, that I was playing such a great douche bag, and all these different things. But that past four weeks, I've had people come up saying, 'I feel so much for your character. He's going through so much. I can't believe I'm rooting for Saxon.'"See on InstagramThe White Lotus season 3 finale really had everything: Saxon begging his brother to live in denial about the sex scene between them, Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) admitting that she's more like her mom than she cared to admit, Timothy (Jason Isaacs) attempting to murder his entire family, Victoria (Parker Posey) asking for some wine after almost dying from a poisoned smoothie, and the miracle of Lochlan going from "twink death" to "twink resurrection."And even though the Ratliff family just went through quite a roller-coaster ride, there is so much more to come after this 90-minute episode concludes. A life of financial ruin and legal battles awaits them!HBO's The White Lotus season 3 is now streaming on Max.

Chinese only introduced a feminine pronoun in the 1920s. Now, it might adopt a gender-inclusive one
Including pronouns in introductions, your email signature or your social media bio may seem like a minor detail. Pronouns are just small words we use in place of names all the time. But, like names, pronouns have personal significance. They say something about who we are.Trans, nonbinary and gender-diverse people face many issues more pressing than pronouns, including health and educational disparities and disproportionately higher rates of abuse, violence and discrimination. Getting pronouns right is a simple thing everyone can do to show respect.Linguistic shifts towards gender inclusivity are occurring worldwide, and the use of gender-neutral or inclusive pronouns is not a new nor exclusively Western phenomenon.Chinese, one of the worlds oldest languages and spoken by more than one billion people, illustrates how languages adapt to reflect shifting understanding of gender. Its pronoun system may be on the cusp of significant change.Developing pronounsIn my newly published research, Ive explored what is happening with Chinese third-person pronouns. The modern Chinese pronoun system is fascinating for two reasons.First, gendered pronouns have only been part of the Chinese language for 100 years: the feminine pronoun (she) was only adopted in the 1920s.Second, although there are now distinct Chinese characters for he, , and she, , these are both pronounced t in Mandarin. You can have a whole conversation about someone without revealing their gender. The lack of gender-distinct pronouns in spoken Mandarin has prompted calls for written Chinese to follow suit. Queer Chinese speakers have proposed several gender-inclusive pronouns that would be pronounced t, just like (he) and (she). These include the romanised form TA and new Chinese characters and . These new characters might look strange: they are written like this to clarify that they should be read as one Chinese character. Currently, they take up the space of two Chinese characters because they are not yet in Unicode and cannot be typed properly.Other people hope to see the now-masculine regain its original function as an ungendered pronoun. What pronouns do queer Chinese speakers use?To understand how Chinese pronouns are changing, I surveyed more than 100 queer Chinese speakers across 12 countries. I asked survey respondents, a third of whom were nonbinary or otherwise gender-diverse, about their pronoun preferences and perceptions. I also analysed how pronouns are used in a large database of contemporary Chinese texts. My research found gender-inclusive pronouns accounted for about a quarter of first-choice pronouns, and nearly half of all pronouns used by survey respondents. TA was overwhelmingly preferred by gender-diverse individuals (70%), with the English they (20%) the next most popular option. While cisgender and transgender men almost exclusively used masculine pronouns, cis and trans women showed significant openness to using gender-inclusive pronouns alongside feminine ones. After (she), TA was the second most common pronoun for women (40%) and second most common overall (17%).Notably, (he) was not used by any women or gender-diverse people, except one who considered it gender-neutral. This suggests reviving its original ungendered usage may be difficult.TA emerged as the most recognised gender-inclusive pronoun, with nearly all respondents (97%) familiar with it regardless of their age, gender, region or language background. In contrast, fewer than 8% had encountered the new character-based pronouns or and no one reported using them. What makes TA so popular?Survey participants were overwhelmingly positive about TA, with 63% expressing favourable views. As one respondent explained:The look and feel is good, it suits peoples everyday pronunciation habits, and doesnt create issues with having to specify someones gender.TA functions similarly to English singular they. It works in two ways: as a gender-neutral pronoun when gender is unknown (like saying someone left their umbrella), and as a gender-inclusive pronoun specifically including gender-diverse people. Many survey respondents called TA respectful and inclusive but also simply convenient. However, some respondents were concerned TA is untraditional and pollutes the Chinese language.Practical considerations for using emerging Chinese pronouns also extend to the technical challenges of typing new Chinese characters. Before a new character can be typed on computers or phones, it needs to be officially encoded in Unicode, the global standard for digital text.My research shows this requirement is strongly influencing which emerging Chinese pronouns can gain traction. While some survey respondents hoped to see a gender-inclusive Chinese character adopted, they werent optimistic about or becoming mainstream. As one noted:is good, but its hard to type and it takes a long time to explain.User-friendly and easily understandableTA is currently the most popular emerging Chinese gender-inclusive pronoun, crucially because it mimics how people use t in spoken Mandarin. It is already part of peoples vocabulary, and already used (at least as a gender-neutral pronoun) by mainstream Chinese media and on online platforms. https://www.youtube.com/embed/CRu2R6zreMA?wmode=transparent&start=0 This 2023 TEDxSuzhouWomen talk is titled We are all gender misfits (ta)Unlike other recently proposed pronouns, TA is versatile, user-friendly and easily understandable for queer and non-queer Chinese speakers alike. This makes TA a strong contender for widespread adoption into contemporary Chinese.Like the introduction of a Chinese feminine pronoun (she) in the 1920s, the emergence of TA as a gender-inclusive pronoun in the 2020s is about recognising a wider spectrum of identities.Pronouns are not a political statement, just a personal statement. When you use someones correct pronouns, youre saying, I see you, and I respect who you are. Thats something worth talking about, in any language.Janet Davey, PhD Candidate, Australian Centre on China in the World, Australian National UniversityThis article is republished from The Conversation under a Creative Commons license. Gay former Bravo producer accuses the network of firing him over OnlyFans in scathing videos
Patrick McDonald, an Emmy-nominated reality TV producer known for his work on Bravo's Real Housewives franchises and Vanderpump Rules, has publicly alleged that his engagement with adult content on OnlyFans led to his professional estrangement from the network. In two separate 9-minute videos posted to social media, McDonald explained that after initiating his OnlyFans account under the username ThiccTrick1 in August 2024, his collaborations with Bravo ceased, suggesting a direct correlation between his side venture and his diminished opportunities with the network. McDonald acknowledged the potential risks associated with his decision, stating, "I'm not an idiot. I knew there was a chance when I started making adult content it could jeopardize my work with Bravo." He contrasted his situation with that of onscreen talent who have maintained similar accounts without apparent repercussions, questioning the disparity in treatment between on-camera personalities and behind-the-scenes staff. See on InstagramBeyond his personal experience, McDonald criticized the broader work environment within reality TV production, citing instances of overworked producers, problematic showrunners, and insensitive handling of cast members' personal matters. In fact, the long days worked by the crew including 22-hour flights for international trips, followed immediately by full days of shooting with no rest started his journey toward adult entertainment. My passion for the genre started to wane as a result [of] how poorly the cast and crew were treated at times, he said.See on InstagramHe also recounted a particular incident involving a cast member's sexuality, seemingly Kyle Richards. Although he didn't name her directly, he heavily eluded to a situation that sounded exactly what she's going through with the rumors about her relationship with country singer Morgan Wade. McDonald said he didn't think it was right to try and out someone without their consent, and he alleges they did so recently with someone. He also alleges the producers pushed the storyline and encouraged fellow cast members to ask questions, even though the other party wanted privacy over the matter. He described the internal discussions as, "insensitive, problematic, and quite frankly gross."The interaction also acted as a catalyst for him to leave, saying, The circumstances around that storyline were a major contributing factor to me realizing that it was time to make a change.McDonald said he looked around at his friends in the adult entertainment industry and how much less they worked, which got him thinking about the industry.Honestly, adult entertainment is something Ive been interested in doing for a long time, but I was too scared to do it because of the fear of what other people might think, he said. He added, I mean, working with the Housewives can be fun at times, but traveling the world to film with some of the most beautiful men on the planet is also a pretty top-tier job.See on InstagramDespite the professional fallout, McDonald expressed no regrets about his transition into adult content creation, saying, Sex work is real, legitimate work, and it has been since the dawn of time.He noted that other Bravo personalities, such as Larsa Pippen and Denise Richards, have also ventured into platforms like OnlyFans, highlighting a perceived inconsistency in the network's stance toward such endeavors.Outside of Bravo, McDonald isnt the only one to receive this type of discrimination for creating adult content. Last August, X-Men 97 creator Beau DeMayo was also reportedly fired over a similar situation. As of now, Bravo has not publicly responded to McDonald's claims. PRIDE also reached out to McDonald for a comment but has yet to receive a response.

J.K. Rowling's nasty reaction to learning asexuals exist has the internet roasting
J.K. Rowling is taking a brief pause from attacking trans people to take a swing at asexuals, and the memes making fun of her for it have already been pouring in.April 6 was International Asexuality Day a day intended to simply draw awareness to what asexuality is. But apparently that was too much for the likes of Rowling, who saw an opportunity to punch down and snatched it right up."Happy International Fake Oppression Day to everyone who wants complete strangers to know they dont fancy a shag," she wrote on X, sharing an infographic from Switchboard, an LGBTQ+ support line. (@) As many pointed out, the infographic in question in no way suggested oppression or divisiveness; it simply shared what asexuality is.Why Rowling felt the need to complain about this to her 14.3 million followers, well never really know. But her entire brand has become crusading against trans people, so it isnt really a surprise that shes decided to expand that circle to other members of the LGBTQ+ community on a whim. (@) She also took the time to respond to commenters that agreed with her, deploying whataboutisms and sarcasm as if any of that proves her point. In one of her responses, Rowling appeared to suggest asexuals couldnt know if theyre gay or straight, which further demonstrated her own deep lack of understanding of asexuality. (@) Despite so blatantly being the exact type of person who needs an infographic about asexuality shoved in her face, Rowling continues to Rowling. And people continue to call her out on her unnecessary spitefulness in the most amusing ways. 'The White Lotus' all-star season? Mike White wants to do it here'swho has to come back
A White Lotus all-star season? We have thoughts. And with that, the third season of Mike Whites The White Lotus has come to an end. This trilogy of absolute mayhem has astounded viewers for years, with each installment introducing not only a new location for the titular resort but a new group of absolute messes ready to tear it apart during their week vacation. These characters are what make this series the award-winning dramedy it is, with each finale leaving audiences gutted knowing they wont see a majority of them ever againor will they? In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Patrick Schwarzenegger (macho bro Saxon on season three) teased the rumors of an all-stars season of the hit series. Ive heard rumors of them doing an all-star season, he told the publication. And it seems that White is game, too. Id love to do that, the series creator replied. They could get all the douche guys in one hotel together. Mike said that one day when we were on set, he was like, Oh my God, itd be so good to get you, Jake Lacy and Theo James in the same room, Schwarzenegger added. Lest it sound like a pipe dream even HBO CEO Casey Bloys got in on the fan-casting, Maybe Molly Shannons character and Victoria Ratliff know each other? There are so many connections between all these awful people, he joked. So with cast members, creator White, and the network's CEO all on board, naturally TWL fans are going wild asking the same question: Who should return? Now while there are so many absolute icons viewers want to see again, fans have to remember that many of their stories ended when their seasons did. Alternatively, there are others who deserve more than just a returning appearance for instance when are Kitty (Molly Shannon) and Victoria (Parker Posey) getting their Thelma and Louise-esque spin-off, Mr. White!? No, the characters who deserve to return are those who combine iconicity onscreen with stories that still need to be told. They are the perfect candidates for The White Lotus: All-Stars, and we have the top ten (kind of) most deserving right here.Mook (Lalisa Manoba)Few castings have rocked The White Lotus fandom as much as season threes announcement that Lalisa Manoba AKA Lisa, hit solo artist and member of BLACKPINK would be starring as the charming health mentor, Mook. Now along with just wanting to see her on our screens again, a return would help Mook finally get her own story rather than simply being a factor in someone elses like she was for Gaitok in season three. Viewers will get to learn what deviousness drives this bubbly character to crave such intense men perhaps at an international work conference?Albie Di Grasso (Adam DiMarco) & Portia (Haley Lu Richardson)Ahh, Albie (Adam DiMarco) and Portia (Haley Lu Richardson), this couple had a truly wild ride in season two. From Albie getting swindled out of 50,000 Euros (when he wasnt starring in memes as a pill-pushing twink) to Portia getting literally kidnapped, their time at The White Lotus was less than ideal. But all that pales in comparison to how irritating fans have theorized their relationship would be, especially when pairing Albies nice-guy misogyny with Portias newfound fear of taking any risks. It would be frustrating but hilarious to see how they would fare on a romantic getaway and it may even be a chance to get the late-great Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge) the justice she deserves. Lochlan Ratliff (Sam Nivola)No, The White Lotus character has set the internet on fire as much as Lochlan Ratliff (Sam Nivola). From tension with his older brother leading to the worst case of people pleasing ever to nearly dying from an unwashed blender, Lochlan went through so much only to discover his family had lost their immense wealth. It definitely wouldnt be in the extravagant suite he originally occupied, but itd be thrilling to see him on vacation with a new view of life and a very reduced budget. Dillon (Lukas Gage)Some peoples time on The White Lotus is defined by intrigue, drama, and growth others are defined by one unreasonably well-done rimjob scene. Such was the case for Dillon (played by queer icon Lukas Gage), with the season one staff member trading sexual favors for a better timesheet with his manager, Armond (Murray Bartlett). This experience showed him how a toxic work culture can literally destroy someones life, with his return bringing the thoughtful conversations this show is known forand who knows, with him around, maybe another hunky cast member will get a mouthful!Shane Patton (Jake Lacy) and Rachel Patton (Alexandra Daddario)Valentina (Sabrina Impacciatore)No work conference of The White Lotus most iconic staff members would be complete without Sicilys Queer legend herself, Valentina (Sabrina Impacciatore). This manager kept things in checkwell, as much as the wild guests and murder plot would allow. Still, her coming out arc was one of the series most heartwarming, and her growth throughout season two showed how a person can do their job without letting it control their life. Shed make an amazing mentor for Mook and Dillon, but with this iconic trio onboard, that leaves one question: whos headlining the conference?Sritala Holliger (Lek Patravadi)Few The White Lotus divas have been as astounding as Sritala Hollinger, owner of The White Lotus Thailand played by real-life Thai legend Lek Patravadi. Why wouldnt an international conference recruit her as its moderator not only does she run the best White Lotus in the world, but her story of recovery after her husbands violent murder is exactly the sob story corporations love. Shed show not only what that kind of trauma does to a legend, but just how brutal a woman has to be to maintain her stardom in this industry.Mia (Beatrice Grann & Lucia (Simona Tabasco)No,The White Lotus: All-Stars cast is complete without the sweetest girls youll ever meet, Mia (Beatrice Grann) and Lucia (Simona Tabasco). These women were not only television trailblazers for their portrayal of sex workers but were the unequivocal winners of season two. Lucia manipulated Albie out of 50,000 euros and Mia launched her singing career within the hotel itself all while helping Valentina discover her sexuality! With their charm and business mindsets, theres no question they would eventually make their way to a White Lotus vacation, and theyd be just what a returnee season needs to knock these rich folks down a peg.Jaclyn Lemon (Michelle Monaghan)Carrie Coon, the Republican, and Actress were the internets favorite group this season of The White Lotus, with many hoping to see Coons Laurie return but her story was already completed. She, along with Leslie Bibbs Kate, end the finale content with the lives theyre returning toJaclyn (Michelle Monaghan), on the other hand, had only just begun her journey of self-discovery. Whether it be keeping her infidelity a secret, navigating the entertainment industry, or reckoning with the trauma of witnessing a murder, this starlet is the perfect candidate for a riveting (and potentially deadly) Eat, Pray, Love week at The White Lotus.

Lucy Dacus and Katie Gavin recreated THIS lesbian iconic magazine cover
Lucy Dacus and MUNA's Katie Gavin are taking us right back to the '90s with a recreation of an iconic magazine cover from sapphic history.Gracing the April 2025 cover of Alternative Press, Dacus donned menswear as she relaxed in a barbers chair. Meanwhile, Gavin, in a swimsuit and boots, held a razor to her neck, prepared to give the "Best Guess" singer a shave.See on InstagramIf this feels familiar, its because its the same cover Vanity Fair did 32 years ago only with k.d. lang and Cindy Crawford subverting gender norms. This modern take is a cheeky, gorgeous callback to a truly iconic moment in queer pop culture. The original made space for butch-femme imagery in a mainstream magazine in a time when "lesbian" was still treated as a dirty word and years before Laura Derns career took a temporary dive for even guest starring as one in the infamous coming out episode of Ellen. Now, three decades later, this recreation reminds us how far weve come while also providing an almost surreal sense of dj vu considering the current political climate. Both artists have long been beloved for taking up space in the music world while being unapologetically queer. Seeing them channel Crawford and lang feels like more than just homage. Its a continuation of a conversation about gender, attraction, and presentation that never really stopped. The fact that this cover dropped in 2025, amid a wave of anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric and legislation, makes it hit even harder. Its a visual reminder that queer art, queer history, and queer joy arent going anywhere no matter how loudly some might wish otherwise. And on top of everything else, its proof that a good suit, a bold lip, and a delightful bit of subtext will always be in style.

In the Hidden World of Donor-Advised Funds, Anti-LGBTQ Groups Make Big Money
Design by Sam Donndelinger.Subscribe nowWhen was the last time you gave money to charity? In 2023 alone, Americans gave an eye-watering $557 billion to around 2 million nonprofits, with almost a quarter of that figure$134 billiondonated to religious causes. But who are the individuals and foundations behind these religious gifts? Well, if youre using a donor-advised fund (DAF), its pretty much impossible to trace the money back to its donor. What is a DAF?In 2023, there were roughly three million DAF accounts. To open an account, you need a DAF sponsor. Most large investment funds, like Bank of America, Vanguard, and Fidelity, have charitable arms that act as sponsors. Donors give their money to their DAF sponsor and get immediate tax breaks from their investment. From there, the donor tells the sponsor which charities theyd like their money to go toward, and the sponsor advises the donor about whether this is the right move and executes the grant accordingly. For most donors, the biggest perk of giving through a DAF is the various tax breaks they can receive, including immediate deductions. But what allures some wealthy donors is the anonymity DAFs provide, especially if they dont want the public to know theyre giving to nonprofits with unconscionable track records on LGBTQ issues, which happens more often than you might expect. In fact, Uncloseted Media has discovered that DAF sponsorsboth religious and mainstreamare stewarding millions into conservative Christian nonprofits that have been designated as anti-LGBTQ hate groups by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and PFLAG.The Surprising Funders of HateOver the past five years, the biggest DAF sponsors include Fidelity Charitable; Vanguard Charitable; and DAFgiving360, formerly Schwab Charitable. They gave at least $37.8 million to anti-LGBTQ nonprofits who advocate in favor of conversion therapy and against gay marriage and are spearheading the rollback of many transgender rights.Fidelity Charitable, the largest of the three sponsors, gave $20 million to these groups between 2019-2023, including over $1 million to the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) and over $2 million to Focus on the Family in the financial year ending in June 2023. DAFgiving360 gave over $2 million to both ADF and Focus on the Family in the same time period.Total grants made in a five-year period from Fidelity Charitable to anti-LGBTQ hate groups. / Data from 20192023 Fidelity Charitable 990 Schedule I.In an email, DAFgiving360 told Uncloseted Media they are a separate legal entity from Charles Schwab and that grants recommended by donors do not reflect the values or beliefs of DAFgiving360, Charles Schwab & Co., or its management. They encourage anyone with concerns to contact the IRS or state regulators. All three of these DAF sponsors also made grants to Liberty University and Oral Roberts University, two notoriously anti-LGBTQ conservative Christian universities known to practice conversion therapy. If somebody on [these DAF sponsors] staff said the kinds of things that ADF or others say publicly, [they] would not continue to have them on [their] staff or board. How can [they] justify supporting that through a grant? Dan Petegorsky, a consultant at the Institute for Policy Studies, an independent, progressive think tank, told Uncloseted Media. He says its hypocritical that these companies pose as allies in the public square but, behind closed doors, funnel money into nonprofits that are coming after the LGBTQ community. Schwab, for example, has celebrated pride and said, Employees are proud to support each other every day through a culture of inclusion. Meanwhile, Fidelity advises clients on how to give equitably, publicly telling their donors that there remain persistent disparities in support for vulnerable populations, specifically LGBTQ+ people. Still, both charities have greenlit millions of dollars toward undermining queer and trans rights.Subscribe for LGBTQ-focused, accountability journalism. Christian Faith-Based GivingBut its outside of these mainstream DAF sponsors where the money really flows, nowhere more so than through the National Christian Foundation (NCF), the monolith of Christian faith-based giving. The organization was founded in 1982 by Evangelical author Larry Burkett, financial planner Ron Blue and tax lawyer Terry Parker. Through the years, they have received donations from notorious anti-LGBTQ billionaire David Green, the founder and CEO of Hobby Lobby, and have been described by Inside Philanthropy as the single biggest source of money fueling the pro-life and anti-LGBT movements. They also claim the sanctity of life, sexuality, gender, and marriage are all values essential to fulfilling their Christian ministry, according to Accountable for Equality, an organization that researches anti-LGBTQ extremists.NCF also asserts that God created man in His own image; male and female, ignoring the reality of trans and gender non-conforming people. In 2024 alone, NCF made $2.6 billion worth of grants to 36,560 charities. Through the years, they have given at least $173 million to ADF, $126 million to Focus On The Family and $40 million to Family Research Council.Petegorsky says that NCF knows "they are a home for ideologically conservative Christians." And a popular one at that. According to research by the Institute for Policy Studies, NCF is the 13th biggest charity in the country as of 2023, one rank above Habitat for Humanity. Fidelity Charitable and DAFgiving360 were the first and third charities with the largest contributions in America, respectively.Anonymity Motivates Folks to Give Through DAFs[DAFs are] by far the most widespread kind of donation vehicle for wealthy Americans at this point, according to Alex Kotch, an investigative journalist who has extensively covered DAFs that give to anti-LGBTQ, anti-Muslim and other hate groups.[The anonymity] is a big motivation for donors who want to give to the various groups and don't want to actually be publicly known as a sponsor, says Kotch. In other words, if a donor recommends a gift to ADF through their DAF, it is almost impossible to trace that gift back to the individual. This is because, as with any investment fund, DAF sponsors are under no obligation to report who their clients are. On the other end, they mustlike any grantmaking organizationdisclose all nonprofits they give money to.The groups these DAFs are giving to have had significant success in rolling back LGBTQ rights. ADF is known for their legal work stripping LGBTQ and reproductive rights in the courtroom, including writing the legal framework that helped overturn Roe v. Wade in 2022. Focus on the Family is a conservative Christian media network that has called gender dysphoria a developmental crisis that is seemingly associated with peer contagions such as social media influencers, a theory that has been consistently debunked. And the Family Research Council believes that homosexual conduct is harmful to the persons who engage in it and to society at large, and can never be affirmed.Other anti-LGBTQ hate groups that receive funding from NCF include the American Family Association, Concerned Women for America and The Heritage Foundationthe group best known for penning Project 2025.Subscribe for investigative journalism. In an email, Jeff Johnston, an issues analyst for Focus on the Family, told Uncloseted Media: Our ministry is not concerned with how PFLAG labels us. We strongly believe what Christianity and Scripture have always taught: God made humans in His image male and female; marriage is the union of a husband and wife; and children do best when raised by their married mother and father. He added that LGBT-identified individuals have the same rights as everyone else in our country, which is false.NCF, ADF and Family Research Council did not respond to Uncloseted Medias request for comment.Total grants made in 2023 from National Christian Foundation to Alliance Defending Freedom. / Screenshot from 2023 National Christian Foundation 990 Schedule I.Total grants made in 2022 from National Christian Foundation to Alliance Defending Freedom. / Screenshot from 2022 National Christian Foundation 990 Schedule I.How Donations to Hate Groups Get GreenlitBut how is this allowed? Kotch says that while DAF sponsors feign a lack of decision-making power about where funds are directed, they have more authority than they let on. I get the same boilerplate responses about how its not up to them, its up to their clients, he told Uncloseted Media. Thats a lie.Heres how it actually works: Once a DAF receives a gift from its donor, they legally own the money. Per its name, the donor must then advise the DAF sponsor on where to donate. But the ultimate decision is up to the DAF sponsor, not the donor.Lets say you had a bunch of money you were giving out and youre saying Well, no, actually I dont really have the power to give it out, its my grandma who gave it to me and shes calling the shots, so I dont have any control,' explains Kotch. But really, you own it. And its the same for DAF sponsors in that they have the final say. While DAF sponsor policies differ slightly, they all carry one key theme: As long as youre donating to a legitimate 501(c)3 nonprofit that is in good standing with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and your suggested donation meets their guidelines, they will approve the grant. But hidden away in a policy document, DAFgiving360 says they may deny grant recommendations that do not meet approved criteria or for any other reason.Fidelity follows a similar set of rules but adds that the grant must be in all other ways consistent with Fidelity Charitable policies. Vanguard Charitable says their team researches, reviews and sends the grant for you, but a request might be denied: Most often it's about the legalities surrounding granting itself, such as impermissible benefits.Todd Sears, founder and CEO of Out Leadership, a consultancy firm that supports LGBTQ business leaders, says its more complex. Of course its terrible that people are funding hate groups, he says. But people in our community need to understand that companies have a [financial] obligation to the donors themselves. They're not going to risk losing that client for the overall business by denying the client a grant they want to make, Petegorsky told Uncloseted Media. Its a huge dilemma for them, and its subject to a lot of political push and pull. Occasionally, there is pressure that forces sponsors to halt certain grants. For example, last year, Fidelity blocked donors from giving money to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, a charity which provide[s] assistance and protection for registered Palestin[ian] refugees.NCF wields this same power in limiting grants to organizations that go against their statement of faith, corroborating the theory that they have at least some level of control. Even though they have no specific guidelines for donating to LGBTQ causes, one grantmaking guide advises clients they can contribute to organizations whose mission is to celebrate the sanctity of marriage by strengthening the bond between husband, wife, and God, and its grantmaking form states that NCF reserves the right, in the exercise of its sole and absolute discretion, to approve or disapprove any recommendations for grants or distributions.Even though mainstream DAF sponsors wont intervene politically in specific grants, They will express their values in a way that they think positions them to best expand their business and hold their clients, says Petegorsky. And those [values] are based on the shifting political climate, not their core values.I think they need to be called out as hypocrites and challenged on it, Petegorsky adds. Its a total contradiction. If mainstream DAF sponsors stop allowing donations to anti-LGBTQ groups, they risk losing a conservative Christian donor base, Petegorsky explains. The ideological donors who want to make those grants will say, Well, fuck it. Why should I be putting my money into Fidelity anymore if they're not going to fund what I want? I'm just going to put my money into NCF because they'll do what I want. When asked how to strike a balance between donor interests and protecting marginalized communities, Sears says, Education, that's how. If you shame somebody, theyll never forget it. People can always change their mind if we tell them the right way. What Can Be Done? While there are plenty of folks who intentionally donate to anti-LGBTQ nonprofits, John Schneider, co-host of the Queer Money Podcast, argues a lot of donors arent aware of the work they are funding. They dont actually go on the websites of these charitable organizations and dig deep into where [their] money is going. So what can be done about DAFs funneling money to hate groups? When it comes to conservative faith-based DAF sponsors like NCF, it is hard to imagine a world in which they would limit giving to anti-LGBTQ hate organizations. Its a sauce for the goose, sauce for the gander here, says Petegorsky. A lot of those organizations that we think of as doing the devils work, others think of doing the Lords work. And for mainstream investment firms? I think they bear responsibility, says Kotch, adding that DAF sponsors could draw on existing SPLC and PFLAG hate group designations to evaluate nonprofit grant recipients. New research by the DAF Research Collaborative found that, out of 128 DAF sponsors, 75% had declined grants to hate groups as defined by a third party or internal list and 41% declined grants that do not align with their values.Subscribe nowBut if [the major DAF sponsors] dont want to just trust one source, theres a lot of willing partners out there who would love to form a coalition and evaluate which groups are considered hate groups, says Kotch. They just dont want the work done. They just dont care. This unwillingness to take a stand means that hundreds of millions of dollars will continue to funnel into anti-LGBTQ efforts in the U.S. and internationally.I think the easiest solution is just to talk about it, says Sears. Say out loud Hey yall, Ive been a Schwab or Vanguard or Fidelity client for 30 years, and I just found this out. Did you know? Even take it to your financial advisor or broker and ask them to look into it. Thats people using their own platform saying, Im a client, because companies ultimately respond to their clients, he says.Another way these donations could be regulated is through Congress and the rules they impose on the IRS, who is responsible for certifying the anti-LGBTQ hate groups as tax-exempt, 501(c)3 nonprofits. In other words, [regulating] which organizations are subsidized by taxpayers, says Kotch.Under the Trump administration, and with people like House Speaker Mike Johnson having written things like homosexual marriage is the dark harbinger of chaos and sexual anarchy that could doom even the strongest republic, its unlikely well see anti-LGBTQ groups restricted from tax-exempt status by Congress anytime soon.I dont think its unreasonable to say, Okay, its a thorny issue, but at the same time we need to develop standards, says Kotch. People have a duty to try and reduce the hate in their states, and especially the funding of that.****Liberty University, Oral Roberts University, Fidelity Charitable and Vanguard Charitable did not respond to Uncloseted Medias request for comment. If objective, nonpartisan, rigorous, LGBTQ-focused journalism is important to you, please consider making a tax-deductible donation through our fiscal sponsor, Resource Impact, by clicking this button:Donate to Uncloseted Media

I was discovering the fraught history of gay bars at a relatively safe time.I had many worries as I entered the door and saw a narrow room packed with men. But I did not have to fear a squad of police would rush into the bar to push any man who appeared femme or who dared to touch another man up against the wall, pulling their hands behind their backs and snapping on handcuffs. In the years since I stepped into my first gay bar, queer acceptance has dramatically increased, and more recent generations of queer people are welcomed and comfortable in a variety of public spaces. This increased acceptance raises questions of the role and importance of gay bars (and other queer spaces).Do gay bars still matter?Sign up for the PRIDE.com Newsletter to get a candid take on whats fresh and fun in LGBTQ+ culture this week!A Haven for New GenerationsI am ringing in 2025 at my favorite West Hollywood gay bar near Santa Monica Boulevard and Robertson, just around the corner from The Abbey. Soon, I chatted with a group of young people who told me they had driven down from Bakersfield because "we had to; there's nothing up there."One of the young men in the group proudly shows me his ID. "He just turned 21," says his gal pal, "It's his first time in a club." I hug the boy, congratulate him, and then watch his jaw drop as a hot go-go dancer jumps onto a speaker. I give him money to tip the dancer. He smiles broadly, walking shyly up to the handsome clad in the bare minimum. A few minutes later, they asked me where they should go next. I tell them to cross Santa Monica and walk down until they find a place they like.I hug them all as they leave and find myself reminded that despite the increased gender and sexual identity fluidity of recent generations, someone new is always coming out.A Historical Perspective of Queer SpacesIn Gay Bar: Why We Went Out, an insightful history of gay bars, Jeremy Atherton Lin describes both the essential function of gay bars and the means that Western societies have used to keep them and their occupants closeted. The most literal form of closeting was to keep gay bars out of sight with no signage, entrances in back alleys, and no windows. The latter was necessary because many municipalities had laws against serving alcohol to homosexuals. Bars with no windows made it harder for police to see, arrest men who appeared femme or women who touched other women, and in different ways deemed queer.Indeed, the first documented public queer demonstration occurred in Los Angeles on February 11, 1967, more than two years before the Stonewall riots, when a group of queer people protested the arrest of fourteen men by undercover police officers who waited until midnight on New Year's Eve when men kissed at the Black Cat Tavern in the Silver Lake district of Los Angeles. In addition to the arrests, the officers severely beat two bartenders and a woman who owned another gay bar in the area. Beyond the impact of the queer bar scene, the raid would later go on to inspire action within our community. Not to mention the creation of what would become The Advocate, the nation's oldest-running LGBTQ+ publication.Lin's recounting of the problematic history of gay bars is a clear reminder that queer history (particularly in the Western tradition) is rife with violence, prejudice, discrimination, and condemnation.Preserving Our Sanctuary: The Ongoing Need for Protection Minutes after my 1997 entry into the fraught history of gay bars, my friend handed me a drink and said, "I'm going to leave you now and go to the bathroom.""No!" I grabbed his arm, "don't leave me!"He smiled, trying not to laugh at my panic. "If I don't leave you, no one will hit on you."Thirty seconds after my friend melted into the crowd, a man had his hand on my arm. "I like your shirt.""Um, thank you," I managed as I leaned back slightly to break contact.I could no longer remember his name, and I could not hear his friend's name over the buzz of the men packed into a space that would have given the fire marshal a coronary. I slid away as soon as I could, not sure if the guy who liked my shirt was cute or not, but for the first time in my life, I was in a place where it was safe for a man to hit on me, and I liked it.Bridging Tradition and Modernity: The Complex IntersectionI sit on a stool in my favorite West Hollywood happy hour bar and start singing along to "I Wanna Dance with Somebody," playing over the bar's speakers. The handsome straight bartender who has always been sweet to me leans toward me over the bar and asks, "Who sings this?" I am speechless, my jaw hanging open. The cute gay barback sees my shock and asks, "What's wrong?""He just asked me who sings this," I manage, and the barback instantly shares my shock. We tease the bartender that he is going to have to up his gay game if he wants to work at a gay bar.It is a strangely lovely moment, admittedly made more delightful by my second glass of Sauvignon Blanc. But the absolute pleasure is being in the majority: having the straight man being the odd man out because he did not recognize a gay icon.We need gay bars (and other queer spaces) because, despite strides in queer acceptance that have occurred in my lifetime, heteronormativity is alive and well. We need places for queer joy, places where our aesthetics and desires are not only normal but celebrated.Sadly, the increased acceptance of gay people and cultures is not all good, even in the relative sanctuary of gay bars. I have sworn off The Abbey on Friday and Saturday nights. I'm tired of drunken bachelorette parties monopolizing the hottest go-go, tipping poorly, and shrieking at each other above the thump of the music. The popularity of RuPaul's Drag Race fills gay bars with mixed crowds at 8 pm on Friday nights. It's not uncommon to see the "invasion" of mostly straight women appropriating queer culture and basking in the liberation of not having to deal with annoying straight men. Gushing over sparkles and spangles some of us wear, sloshing their drinks on our best shoes, and crashing the men's room.Lin calls this invasion of gay bars and queer culture "secondary gayness" and notes that such appropriation is cheap for the invaders. Ironically, this new visibility and popularity of queer culture and bars also create a new kind of closetingone that too often makes generations of danger and abuses invisible to newcomers. We still need gay bars as safe spaces for the newly out, as reminders of more troubled times in our history, and as oases from the daily press of heteronormativity. And as more and more gay bars gentrify and become attractive to straight people, we also need to protect our spaces and our culture.David Wallace is a professor of English at Long Beach State University, and he has published a number of articles about the effects of closeting on queer people. He lives in West Hollywood, CA, where he spends as much time as possible swimming laps, hiking, running, cooking good food, reading mystery novels, and joining friends for happy hour.Voices is dedicated to featuring a wide range of inspiring personal stories and impactful opinions from the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. 'White Lotus' creator says if you don't like being 'edged,' don't watch his show
White Lotus has been on the tip of everyones tongues for weeks now, with incest plot lines, nude Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Parker Poseys memeable dialogue taking over social media. But now that the season 3 finale has aired, showrunner Mike White is opening up about the show that is popular among the gays with some cheeky sexual innuendo for fans. Despite the third season of the popular dramedy drawing 6.2 million viewers a 30% bump from the shows previous record some fans have criticized the new season for getting off to a slow start.White disagrees and says they should get on board with the vibe of the show and enjoy the way he edges the audience, or they should get out of my bed.The pacing and the vibe it definitely gets under their skin, he said per Variety on the newest episode of the official White Lotus podcast on April 7.There was complaining about how theres no plot. That part I find weird. It never did part of me is just like bro, this is the vibe. Im world-building. If you dont want to go to bed with me then get out of my bed. Im edging you! Enjoy the edging, White said, defending his creative choices. He continued, If you dont want to be edged, then get out of my bed. Do you know what I mean? Dont be a bossy bottom. Get the f*ck out of my bed. Dont come home with me. Dont get naked in my bed. Get the f*ck out of my bed. Obviously something is going to happen.White isnt the only one talking openly about the show post-finale; Schwarzenegger admitted that he knew about the brotherly love scenes before joining the show, but never talked to White about his characters sexual orientation. "One of my audition scenes was the scene by the pool, when the two girls are interrogating me, saying they didn't force me to kiss my brother," Schwarzenegger told Variety. "I'm like, 'Yeah, you did,' And then they say, 'Well, we didn't make him jerk you off.' At the time, I didn't know if that was them messing with me, or if it had actually happened, until I booked the role. We didn't necessarily have conversations before that."For those who are already chomping at the bit for season 4, youre in luck because another season has already been greenly and will be set somewhere in Europe this time around. Plus, White, Schwarzenegger, and HBO CEO Casey Bloys have teased a potential all-stars season. For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular, but theres always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels, White said.

Madonna and Elton John have 'buried the hatchet' tease music collab
Madonna and Elton John shared a new photo of them together to declare that they've officially ended their infamous feud of several decades. On Monday, April 7, Madonna shared a new Instagram post that read:"We Finally Buried the Hatchet!!!I went to see Elton John perform on SNL this weekend!! WOW.I remembered when I was in high school I snuck out of the house one night to see Elton perform live in Detroit! It was an unforgettable performance that helped me understand the transformative power of music.Seeing him perform when I was in high school changed the course of my life. I had always felt like an outsider growing up and watching him on stage helped me to understand that it was OK to be different to stand out to take the road less traveled by. In fact, it was essential.Over the decades it hurt me to know that someone I admired so much shared his dislike of me publicly as an artist. I didn't understand it. I was told Elton John was the musical guest on SNL and I decided to go.I needed to go backstage and confront him. When I met him, the first thing out of his mouth was, "Forgive Me" and the wall between us fell down.Forgiveness is a powerful tool. Within minutes. We were hugging. Then he told me had written a song for me and he wanted to collaborate. It was like everything came full circle!!And you can tell everybody, This is Your Song [heart emojis]"See on InstagramThis peace treaty between John and Madge wasn't in anyone's bingo card for 2025, but pop music fans couldn't be happier about this update! This story is still developing

Jenna Ortega reveals the incredible drag name her late grandfather performed under
As if we didnt already love Jenna Ortega enough, the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice star is opening up about her late grandfathers fabulous past as a drag queen. In a recent interview with The Cut, Ortega spoke candidly about her career and the things in life that have inspired her and led her down the path to Hollywood. One of those influences, she believes, may have been a grandfather she never had the opportunity to meet."I kind of have the same instincts that he does," she said, referencing his love for performing. Her grandfather her mothers father was a drag performer who used the stage name "Daddy Warbucks." According to The Cut, he didnt come out until later in life, and used drag as a way to help support his family financially. This isnt the first time Ortega has spoken about him, although theres often more of a somber tone to the stories. After all, her grandfather died of complications from AIDS before she was even born."I never got the opportunity to meet him. And I dont want anybody else to have to go through that," she told Grumpy Magazine in 2018, per FandomWire. His legacy inspired the Wednesday star to become an ambassador for UNAIDS, a United Nations effort to fight against the AIDS epidemic through advocacy, prevention, and providing access to treatment."My mom has always told us how amazing you were," Ortega wrote on social media in 2017, addressing her grandfather. "Im sad we never got to you. You were very expressive, and loved to entertain, so I feel like I have a bit of you in me."

Lesbian soccer star Ashlyn Harris opens up about 'dark' struggle with drug she abused in college
After years of hiding her problem, former soccer star Ashlyn Harris is getting candid about the drug addiction she battled in her youth. While playing soccer at the University of North Carolina, Harris admitted she turned to amphetamines while dealing with repeated sports injuries.I was getting really heavily addicted to Adderall and misusing it, Harris revealed on the March 21 episode of the Question Everything with Danielle Robay podcast, per E News. I was taking it all the time. I would go days without sleeping. It was wild. I felt like I was gonna give myself a heart attack. I was crushing it. I was snorting it. It was so problematic. The iconic lesbian soccer star said that a toxic body image had something to do with her continued abuse of the medication as well. Then I was like, Oh, it makes me skinny. It curbs my appetite. It was just a toxic, toxic time for me because it was the first time that I started to have my character tested because I started to get injured, the 39-year-old retired athlete explained. Harris, who spent part of 2023 and 2024 in the headlines amid cheating rumors surrounding her relationship with One Tree Hill actress Sophia Bush, said that her addiction problem was going on while she was recovering from ACL and labrum injuries, but her college soccer coach Anson Dorrance was very supportive. It got really, really dark and I had to make some serious adjustments, she explained, and Anson would have me read books. She told podcast host Danielle Robby that Mans Search for Meanings message about reframing suffering changed my life.Harris says shes trying not to pass along her issues to her two children (Sloane, 4, and Ocean, 2) who she shares with ex-wife and former soccer pro Ali Krieger.See on InstagramI have a lot of trauma in my life and I have a lot of scars. I do not want to project and place that on my children, she confided. When you become a mom and you're molding young humans, your perspective in life changes. You have to get your s--t together because they see and hear everything. Now the two-time FIFA Womens World Cup winner is focused on being the best role model she can be for her kids.I just want to give my kids the best tools to be whoever they want to be, Harris explained. But at the core of them, they need to be good people. They have to be good people. How they serve their community, how they show up for their friends, that matters.

Watch Elon Musk die inside as he is trolled by gamers he appears desperate to impress
Elon Musk is no stranger to getting trolled. The internet has laughed at his terrible Hitler-esque haircut, his cringey photo op with President Donald Trump led to people posting hilarious NSFW captions, and his trans daughter Vivian Wilson has turned roasting her father into an art form. But as the Tesla and X CEO has taken on an outsized role within the federal government, where hes been leading the charge to cut as much from it as possible, the internets desire to keep him humble has only seemed to increase. Now Musk is going viral after getting mercilessly swarmed by trolls while livestreaming himself playing Path of Exile 2 during a flight on his private jet. (@) Just a few minutes into the 45-minute stream, during which Musk rarely spoke and repeatedly died, the head of DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) started receiving messages from other players that ripped him apart. You have no friends and will die alone, one player wrote so many times the message took over the screen. Someone else commented, Elon, deep down you will always be cringe no matter how much money or power you have. (@) Other players took a different approach, with one asking Musk to make it clap for daddy. Another viewer claimed to be Ashley St. Claire, Musks former partner who he is in the middle of a custody battle over their five-month-old child, by asking him to please pay your child support.Another player filled the screen by commenting over and over again, You ruined the country just like you ruined all your marriages. (@) The stream was meant to be an airborne continuity test of his Starlink internet service, but before rage quitting, Musk created a character named Kekius Maximus, who was killed by one of the games tutorial bosses because of a "bad connection," The Verge reports. (@) This did nothing to repair his reputation with other gamers which was already in the toilet after being accused multiple times by professional players who have accused him of lying about his skill level and who allege Musk pays more talented players to level up his characters for him or that hes boosting his character with third-party upgrades, according to The New York Times. His estranged daughter even told Twitch streamer Hasan Piker during a livestream that Musk is godawful at video games. This is so cringe. Why would you even pretend to be? It's fine not to be a gamer, Wilson said, Newsweek reports.

15 lesbian coming-of-age movies that will hit your right in the feels
Get in lesbian, we're watching movies!Theres a reason there are so many coming-of-age films. They are a powerful time in our lives, raging hormones aside, its a time when we learn so much about the world, who we are, and how we fit into it. Including for many lesbians it's time when we discover were queer. It's also a time of firsts. First loves, first heartbreaks, first impactful friendships, and first tastes of adulthood to come. It's a liminal space between who we were as children and who we will grow to be. Its exciting, scary, and beautiful.Which is to say it also makes for great fodder for excellent storytelling. Add to that a sapphic awakening and youve really got something special. So, with that in mind, here are 15 lesbian coming-of-age films that never cease to move us, entertain us, make us laugh, and yes, make us cry.Alice JniorThis Brazilian dramedy is an all too rare coming-of-age story following the journey of a sapphic trans young woman. In it, Alice is a 17-year-old trans-YouTuber whose life takes a turn when she has no choice but to leave her progressive city life behind, instead of a small rural town and Catholic high school. In addition to navigating the small-town prejudice she is also eager to experience her first kiss. It's sweet, funny, and moving, and features a trans actress (Anna Celestino Mota) in a trans role. While this is Rileys dream come true the pressure to perform and to achieve perfection comes with intense pressure and psychological cost. What makes this film stand out in the genre, aside from its stellar cast which also includes Rachel Evan Woods playing a lesbian coach, is that the source of the drama is never focused on Rileys queer identity. Nor is she shamed for her queerness. Where to watch: Rent on Prime VideoBooksmartNot all coming-of-age stories have to be heartfelt or melodramatic, sometimes they can be just plain fun. This film is a true camp masterpiece that also co-stars Melanie Lynskey, Cathy Moriarty, and RuPaul Charles. The two grow close and begin to explore thier attraction to one another but throughout the summer, things between them take a turn into obsession and betrayal. Teen girls are complicated and not always kind, This film explores those dynamics that are sadly also a part of our coming of age. Where to watch: Rent on Prime VideoPariahFrom filmmaker Dee Rees, this film follows the story of Alike (Adepero Oduye), a young closeted lesbian living two lives, one with her out and proud friend, and another at home with thier religious conservative mother. It's a struggle, a journey many young queer people have had to navigate, and this film represents that struggle with powerful emotional relevance and gentleness. That ultimately Alike chooses to follow her truth only adds to how impactful this film remains.Where to watch: Rent on Prime VideoPrincess CydThere is just something about lesbian discovery and summertime, and Princess Cyd is another example of a coming-of-age tale set during the warm and free-spirited season. In the film, Cyd spends the summer with her aunt Miranda, and while there, she meets and strikes up a romance with a barista named Katie (lesbian tale as old as time), and it proves to be a journey of self-discovery.Where to watch: TubiShow Me LoveThis sweet Swedish lesbian coming-of-age story sees two girls from different ends of the social structure in thier small town growing closer after a prank and kiss on a dare connects them. For Agnes (Rebecka Liljeberg), who has long had a crush on Elin (Alexandra Dahlstrm), this is a dream come true. However, for Elin, who is still struggling with her identity, it's a bit more complicated. But love wins out.Where to watch: The Internet ArchiveThe Truth About JaneThis made-for-TV movie was a watershed film for lesbians of a certain age. It not only told the story of Janes (Ellen Muth) queer awakening when she falls for a classmate but the impact of her identity on her mother (Stockard Channing) and thier relationship. It remains unique for its focus on both women's experiences and the impact of coming out on the family.Where to watch: Rent on Prime Video

National resources for trans and gender diverse communities
The Trump administration has launched a series of executive orders and other initiativesattacking the transgender community since taking power in January, targeting military service, affirming healthcare and participation in sports.Though many executive orders are being challenged in court, its an uncertain time for a community that feels threatened. Despite the uncertainty, there are resources out there to help. From legal assistance to mental health support, heres a list of nonprofits and organizations dedicated to improving the everyday livelihood of trans and gender diverse people. These are mostly national organizations; there are many additional groups that work in local communities across the country. Some of these national groups will connect those in need of help to a local organization.LEGAL HELPPresident Trump issued an executive order declaring there are only two genders male and female which applies to legal documents and passports. The order doesnt recognize the idea that one can transition their gender at birth to another gender.Ash Lazarus Orr filed to renew his passport with a gender marker reflecting his identity. That was in January, and he still hasnt received it. He refused to accept a passport without an accurate identification of who he is, so he filed a lawsuit with the ACLU in what is now known as Orr v. Trump.Orr told the Washington Blade that not receiving his passport back has taken away his freedom of visiting family in Canada and receiving gender-affirming care from a trusted provider in Ireland. The one thing getting him through this uncertain time is knowing who hes fighting for the trans community, his loved ones, and himself.Im trying to be that person that those younger parts of me needed growing up, Orr said. Check out a couple of legal support organizations below:Transgender Law CenterThe Transgender Law Center (TLC) provides legal resources and assistance. TLC has a list called the Attorney Solidarity Network of attorneys that can provide advice or representation for trans people. The organization also has a legal information help desk that answers questions regarding laws or policies impacting trans people.Website:https://transgenderlawcenter.orgPhone: 510-587-9696Email: info@transgenderlawcenter.orgAdvocates For Trans EqualityWith a variety of different programs tailored toward legal assistance and advocacy work, Advocates For Trans Equalitys reach is wide. The non-profit offers the Name Change Project, which provides pro bono legal name change services to low-income trans, gender-non-conforming and nonbinary people by utilizing its partnerships with law firms and corporate law departments.Advocates For Trans Equality also has departments and programs dedicated to increasing voter engagement, educating lawmakers on trans issues and offering litigation assistance to a small number of cases.Website:https://transequality.org/Phone: 202-642-4542General email:a4te@transequality.orgTo contact a specific department or program, visit its website above.ADVOCACYLooking to take action and get involved? Building queer community through bicycles
Fairmount Bicycles, a queer-owned bike shop focused on social justice through their programs and partnerships, began when its owner, Shelly Walker, rode from her home in West Philadelphia to Kensington. Before she arrived at the warehouse where she and a friend sold bicycles, she took in the sights of dense, vibrant Fairmount and wondered where the neighborhoods bike shop was. This curiosity eventually drove her to makeFairmount Bicyclesa reality.Walkers path to owning a bike shop wasnt straightforward. She grew up in South Florida and Chester County and originally came to Temple University as a marketing major. She made it through orientation before realizing marketing just wasnt for her and switching her major to film. After college, her interest in bikes developed from a friend and roommate who not only enjoyed riding them, but also had a side business where they would buy bikes at yard sales, fix them up, and sell them on Craigslist. They would sell enough bikes to make beer money and rent money and then stop selling, Walker said. So sometimes they might work really hard the first six days of the month and then be done for the month. And I was at some point like why not do that on a bigger scale? She added that her friends only objection was the idea of dealing with customers, so Walker handled the communications side of the business while her friend taught her how to fix up bikes. After deciding to open up a bike shop in Fairmount, Walker had a friend tell her about entrepreneurship programs like Entrepreneur Works, a local nonprofit that creates pathways of opportunity for talented yetunderserved entrepreneurs where Walker completed a 10-week course. The lessons were introductory, which helped her not get overwhelmed, and she complimented her instructor, Earl Boyd, for being a talented teacher. She especially appreciated how he taught about the more emotional side of business. It stuck with me that he kind of acknowledged that just because you decide to close a business does not mean it failed, Walker said. You can just decide you dont want to do something anymore, and thats good enough, and you dont have to feel like a failure. So I think part of what he tries to do is kind of convince you, or help you realize that youre taking a risk and thats okay, and just because youre taking a risk doesnt mean you have to stick with it if it turns out its not what you want to be doing. And I think that gave a lot of us a lot of confidence to move forward with our ideas.Fairmount Bicycles has now been operating for 15 years and boasts community-centric programs in addition to standard bike shop services. Before even stepping into the store, one can see a program in action: the community fridge.During the beginning of the pandemic, Walker noticed community fridges popping up around the city and contacted Dr. Michelle Nelson, founder of theMama Tee Community Fridge Project, to get one near the store.I feel like this neighborhood is kind of a convergence of every kind of socioeconomic and racial background, Walker said. And I think that is the type of neighborhood that makes for a good community fridge space, because you have enough people that have excess, and you have enough people that need food. So it really has worked out.She added that they launched use of the fridge on Earth Day in April 2021 and that it is in constant use.Inside the store, they offer bikeservicesincluding tuneups, brake adjustments, flat fixes and assembly. While paying at the register customers can also add money into the community card/fund. Walker explained that the community card was the brainchild of a former employee and helps those in need cover the cost of repairs to their bikes. We have such a wide range of customers, she said, and bikes are one of those things where, you know, you can have a bike thats just like a fun toy you play with on the weekends, or it is your mode of transportation. Its the way you get around the city. Its the vehicle you use for your job, you know, maybe your delivery, courier. Theres so many people that use bikes, and we see the lot of them, you know, we see the wide range. Before the community card, Walker explained, if someone didnt have enough money for repairs the shop would just discount the repair to how much the person did have. This meant a $15 flat fix might have only be done for $3. The method wasnt, however, a sustainable option for the business. Now with community card, the services are still discounted to accommodate peoples needs, but some of the money is covered by the community fund. Walker explained that they do it this way to help the fund last longer. The community card is offered to those on EBT.Another way the store helps more people in the community access bikes is theLil Chipmunk Club. The Lil Chipmunk Club is something that Walker said she had been daydreaming about creating since the shop opened, but having a kid of her own pushed her to launch it.There are two things, she explained. One, there are all these amazing kid bike brands out there now, but the bikes are quite expensive and therefore inaccessible to a lot of families. The other thing is because of that, even your average kid bike is still a good chunk of change. So what parents often do, caregivers and parents, is that they try and get a bike thats going to, quote, unquote, last a while. But what that ultimately means is that youre putting your kid on a bike that either doesnt fit now or wont fit later. The Lil Chipmunk Club was created to help people keep their kids on bikes that fit while not having to drop $300 to $600 on a new one every time their child grows. The current membership price is a refundable deposit of $150 with a monthly fee of $19. With the membership people can check out bikes, bringing them back and exchange them when their child outgrows the old one. If the child stays with one bike for a year, they get a complimentary tuneup. In addition to these programs Fairmount Bicycles has also done community partnerships with organizations like theBread & Roses Community FundandThe Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia. They have also started to offer bike tours, collaborating on one last year about LGBTQIA+ history withBeyond the Bell Tours, a queer owned tour company. Another of their other offered tours is Murals, Manayunk, and More, created in collaboration withMural Arts. This story is part of the Digital Equity Local Voices Fellowship lab throughNews is Out. • The Koch Twins Turn Up The Heat With A Wild White Lotus Parody That Has Everyones Attention
    WWW.PRIDE.COM
Cooper Koch turns up the heat with an eye-popping 'White Lotus' parody with his twin brother
Its one thing to go viral for your talent. Its another to go viral for fake-kissing your gay twin brother in an apparent homage to the incestuous threesome plot line from The White Lotus. But hey, if anyone can pull it off and still walk away sexy, unscathed, and unbotheredits Cooper and Payton Koch.In a now-disappeared Instagram story posted by their younger brother Walker, the Koch twins posed under a map of Thailandthe season 3 setting for The White Lotus with Cooper leaning in toward Payton teasing quite the brotherly love moment.By tagging @thewhitelotus, they sent the message loud and clear that this was a parody of the seasons most WTF moment: when the fictional Ratliff brothers (played by Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Nivola) shared a drug-fueled threesome. When that happened, the internet collectively freaked with users saying things like the "incest thing" happened to "show us how a homophobic Republican is made." The week before, when the on-screen brothers first kissed, the internet also went crazy, with users saying things like, "I thought everyone knew up front that this show is a satire with dark comedy mocking rich white people."What makes this parody all the juicier is that Cooper Koch isnt just some random actor capitalizing on the momenthe starred in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, a series that raised eyebrows for also hinting at incestuous undertones between the infamous real-life brothers, though that is all speculation.See on InstagramAdding to the intrigue? Both Koch twins are out and proud, extremely attractive, and come from a Hollywood lineage (their grandfather, Hawk, is a former Academy president). Coopers carving a name for himself as a rising actor, while Payton is racking up Emmy nominations as a sought-after editor.Basically, theyre hot, talented, and fully in on the joke.In a world where sibling dynamics on TV are getting more homoerotic by the minute, the Koch twins wink to the camera feels more like a smart commentary than shock bait. And we love to see it.PRIDE reached out to Walker for further comment, but has yet to receive a response.
