Trump says Democrats want to turn every member of your family transgender
The president of the United States claimed that Democrats want to turn everyone transgender if theyre not feeling well, while he ranted at a recent speech that was ostensibly about the economy.I think transgender for all is a great, great thing for the Democrats to be talking about, he said during a speech at the Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania, casino yesterday. The speech was billed as a chance for Trump to reclaim the economic narrative, according to The Guardian. Related Mark Takano blasts Republicans for cruelly blaming shutdown on trans people Transgender for every member of your family. If theyre not feeling well that night, lets just change their sex, he said, getting the crowd to laugh. Lets not talk about it. Let em go and let em fight, fight, fight just to get these things.Trump: "Transgender for every member of your family. If they're not feeling well that night, let's just change their sex." Subscribe to our Newsletter today While Trump claimed that Democrats wont stop talking about transgender issues, thats far from the truth. Trump made trans peoples rights the centerpiece of his 2024 campaign, spending hundreds of millions of dollars on anti-trans ads, while Kamala Harris campaign stayed fairly silent on trans rights.Trump has repeatedly used the expression transgender for all he generally presents it as something that he believes Democrats are demanding over the past several years, even though its not clear what he means by it. This was perhaps one of the few times that he has offered more of an explanation as to what he means when he says that: He appears to believe that Democrats want everyone to transition, as if transitioning is something people do irrespective of their identity In reality, liberals see trans people as a discrete, historically oppressed minority in need of the protection of the law. Expanding or restricting transgender peoples rights wont change the number of transgender people; it will just change whether they feel safe in living their lives authentically, according to the liberal worldview. Trumps argument appears to be that the fact that Democrats want to make transitioning easier for some people means that they want everyone to do it.Also in his speech on Tuesday, Trump attacked Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who is a Black, Muslim woman, falsely accusing her of having married her brother, calling her a b**ch, and saying that she wears a little turban. The crowd then started chanting Send her back! even though she is a naturalized U.S. citizen.Trump: "Ilhan Omar, whatever the hell her name is. With her little turban. I love her. She comes in, does nothing but bitch we ought to get her the hell out she's here illegally."The crowd in Pennsylvania then starts chanting "send her back!" Aaron Rupar (@atrupar.com) 2025-12-10T00:43:34.210ZTrump also admitted that he referred to Haiti and African nations as s**thole countries in 2018, which was a scandal at the time. At the time, he lied and said he never said it, but he is apparently now willing to admit he did.We had a meeting, and I said, Why is it we only take people from s**thole countries, right? he recounted on Tuesday. Why cant we have some people from Norway, Sweden, just a few. Let us have a few. From Denmark send us some nice people. Do you mind? But we always take people from Somalia, places that are a disaster, right? Filthy, dirty, disgusting, ridden with crime. The only thing theyre good at is going after ships.I already knew Donald Trump was a liar and corrupt and incompetent, but there were a lot of people who did go into this election with a real hope that Donald Trump was going to lower costs, out Pennsylvania state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta (D) said. Now he says that affordability is a hoax. They thought that Donald Trump was going to get us out of foreign wars and entanglements. Now hes looking at invading Venezuela.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Trump dumps iconic rainbow sash at Kennedy Center Honors
On Sunday night, the President of the United States played emcee for an awards show. He was no Johnny Carson. In his role as Chairman of the Board of the Kennedy Center, Trump handled hosting duties for the annual Kennedy Center Honors, a lifetime achievement award ceremony for American entertainers. As emcee, Trump took the opportunity to insult his audience in the centers Opera House (Many of you are miserable, horrible people), glorify himself (facetiously calling the once-respected arts institution the Trump Kennedy Center), and compare himself favorably to Carson, the legendary late-night host. Subscribe to our Newsletter today The once-bipartisan event, scheduled for broadcast on CBS later this month, has been consumed by Trumps ego and his administrations ugly partisan rhetoric. Both were on display in the lead-up to the ceremony, by dumping the honors original medal in favor of a new Trump-approved design.Tonight, @POTUS will present medallions to this years Kennedy Center Honors recipients with a new, far more classy design, created and donated by Tiffany & Co. (left)A MASSIVE upgrade from the tacky rainbow sash design of medallions past (right). pic.twitter.com/LcCF2DEJLu Rapid Response 47 (@RapidResponse47) December 6, 2025 Now under the direction of Trump-appointed gay envoy Ric Grenell, the Kennedy Center announced in August that it would abandon the iconic rainbow sash created by design legend Ivan Chermeyeff. The sash has been in use since 1978, the inception of the honors during Jimmy Carters presidency.Trump enlisted luxury brand Tiffany to reimagine the award, resulting in a more traditional medallion design. Gone is the distinctive rainbow ribbon with three gold-plated medallions (one bearing the recipients name), which differentiated the Kennedy Center award from similar honors. Now, in its place, a more traditional round medallion (reminiscent of Olympic medals) hangs from a Navy-blue ribbon. Remarkably, the final design retains a rainbow element, in thin stripes embracing an etched drawing of the Kennedy Center building and continuing Chermeyeffs original reference in 1978 to the award acknowledging the full spectrum of the arts.By coincidence, the rainbow Pride flag, designed by Gilbert Baker, made its very first appearance at the 1978 San Francisco Pride, the same year the Kennedy Center Honors debuted. Why Trump decided to keep the rainbow iconography, which his administration has bulldozed almost everything associated with LGBTQ+ rights, is a mystery.Maybe its one fight he didnt want to pick as Kennedy Center ticket sales have plunged on his watch, and the centers executive director (Grenell) is consumed by accusations of corruption and mismanagement.Or maybe Trump just wanted to keep the focus on himself.Asked on the red carpet before the show how past presidents might have handled hosting duties, Trump replied, I would say the last one would not have done too well.He added, John F. Kennedy would have done a very good job mostly.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Nancy Mace claims police falsified report about her cuss-filled public airport meltdown
Anti-LGBTQ+ Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), who is running for South Carolina governor, is now claiming that police falsified a report that said she turned a minor miscommunication at the Charleston International Airport into a swear-filled spectacle that left airport employees visibly upset.CNN anchorwoman Kaitlan Collins recently asked Mace about the October 30 incident, in which a miscommunication about the color of her vehicle led airport security workers to miss meeting and escorting her through expedited security. Related Nancy Mace bluntly declares herself a proud transphobe A police report of the incident said that Mace called police f**king idiots and f**king incompetent; proclaimed that she is a f**king representative; and told a TSA supervisor, Im sick of your s**t. You guys are always f**king late and this is f**king ridiculous. The report was actually falsified, Mace claimed. Ive never called a cop an idiot. That is a remarkably false statement. I am absolutely saying that that report was falsified. 100% fictitious, falsified. I have never called someone an idiot. That is shocking to me. I use vulgar language frequently. The president does. I do express my frustration. I do take responsibility for my words, I always have. But the idea that I would call somebody an idiot? I have never done that in my life, and to me it was an incredible hit job. It was effective, it was a very effective political hit job, but thats all that it was. Parents & school board members sue their state for the right to bully transgender students
Members of school districts and school boards in Long Island and Schenectady, New York, sued Attorney General Letitia James and other state officials on Tuesday, claiming that their guidance protecting transgender students from bullying and harassment censors free speech. The lawsuit, filed by the anti-trans conservative Southeastern Legal Foundation (SLF), is over a May 8 letter from both James and State Education Commissioner Betty Rosa telling school boards not to make or encourage comments that misgender trans students, suggest that their identities are illegitimate, or imply that their inclusion in school activities and facilities harms other students. Related LGBTQ+ youth are in crisis. But theyre also strong, hopeful & know who they are. The letter noted that state law requires trans access to school facilities, forbids discrimination based on gender identity, and requires governmental school officials to protect all students from discrimination, harassment, bullying, taunting, and intimidation.Comments and conduct that violate students privacy rights or create a hostile school environment harm children, sow discord in communities, and expose school districts to costly litigation, the letter stated. Board members may be removed from office when they willfully neglect their duty or violate legal protections for students in their district. The letter also noted that board members can respect free speech rights while also implementing reasonable viewpoint-neutral rules governing the content of speech that prohibit comments that could have discriminatory, harassing, or bullying effects. The lawsuit says the guidance forces school communities toself-censor and shut down parent speech that advocates for their core values and for childrens privacy, safety and opportunity.Letitia James policies that say students cannot speak at their own school board meetings about the stress and problematic policies around accommodating trans athletes are anti-American and anti-constitutional, SLF President Kim Hermann said in a statement. Letitia James policies that say school board members in New York can be removed from office just for using the biologically correct pronoun for a trans student are not only repressive but blatantly disregard the value of free speech for the citizens she represents. A 2025 Trevor Project study found that trans, nonbinary, and gender-questioning youth self-reported higher levels of depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation following the recent increase in anti-trans political speech and policies.A 2023 Trevor Project study found that 64% of trans and nonbinary young people reported feeling discriminated against in the past year due to their sexual orientation or gender identity. Pete Hegseth & Trump beg court to let them keep kicking HIV+ soldiers out of the military
The U.S. military asked the three Republican-appointed judges in the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals to overturn a lower court ruling forbidding the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) from kicking out HIV-positive soldiers. The DOD claims that the soldiers create financial and logistical burdens, but the soldiers say those claims are outdated and discriminatory. The medical needs of individuals with HIV limit their deployability and the tasks they can perform in military service, and they impose additional costs on the military above those incurred by healthy individuals, the militarywrote in its brief. Thus, at a minimum, there is a rational basis for the military to treat such individuals differently. Related Federal judge orders Trump administration to stop discharging HIV+ military members The military notes that hundreds of different medical conditions disqualify people from joining the military, including high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, limited motion, impaired vision and hearing, food allergies, and communicable diseases like hepatitis, Courthouse News noted. These conditions, the DOD says, can endanger the health of those who have them as well as their fellow soldiers and may not be treatable if battle conditions make medications or healthcare hard to obtain. Never Miss a Beat Subscribe to our newsletter to stay ahead of the latest LGBTQ+ political news and insights. Subscribe to our Newsletter today The DODs filing also says that HIV-positive soldiers wouldnt be able to give their blood to other injured soldiers in need. The filing notes that both the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) forbid HIV-positive people from donating blood for transfusion to others due to the risks of possible HIV transmission. In August 2024, U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema of the Eastern District of Virginia ruled in favor ofa trans woman honorably discharged from the Army for being HIV-positive, an HIV-positive gay man, and an HIV-positive cisgender woman who were both forbidden from joining the Army even though they were undetectable due to medication. This group said the DODs policy violates the Fifth Amendments equal protection clause and the Administrative Procedure Act. Modern science has transformed the treatment of HIV, Judge Brinkemawrotein her 2024 ruling. Asymptomatic HIV-positive service members with undetectable viral loads who maintain treatment are capable of performing all of their military duties, including worldwide deployment.Scott Schoettes, a lawyer with the Lambda Legal Defense & Education Fund who represented the HIV-positive plaintiffs in the more recent appeals court hearing, said the DODs policy is based on misconceptions and irrational fear, adding, Why is the military still acting like its 1981? He also argued that the U.S. government has the financial means to provide medical care to HIV-positive soldiers and that the soldiers are completely capable of fulfilling the physical eligibility and health requirements needed for military service. The Center for HIV Law and Policy and the American Civil Liberties Union, wrotea briefsupporting the HIV-positive plaintiffs, stating, Denying [military entry] to civilians living with HIV is contrary to ending HIV-related stigma and discrimination. In 2018, the Trump Administration unveiled a deploy or get out policy to remove HIV-positive service members, claiming their health condition make them incapable of being deployed worldwide. However, Judge Brinkema blocked this policy as well. The United Kingdom, France, and Australia allow HIV-positive people with undetectable loads to join their militaries.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

How Sundance 2026 celebrates its queer legacy
2026 is a landmark year for the Sundance Film Festival. Not only is it the last year the festival will be held in Park City, Utah its home for over 40 years before moving to Boulder, Colorado in 2027. But it will also be the first festival since founder Robert Redford passed away in September.Eugene Hernandez, director of the Sundance Film Festival and head of Public Programming, says Redford created a space where queer independent films could thrive and reach new audiences. He's been going to the festival since 1993 and says Redford's work in creating the institute and the festival helped give him access to the work of Todd Haynes, Jennie Livingston, and the New Queer Cinema movement."I didn't know what a festival was, but I felt this open invitation, right? To be connected to this place," he says. This year, Hernandez hopes the festival can celebrate and honor that legacy "and create that continuity even though the festival will be in a different place in 2027.""The mission and the focus and the vision of what it is intended to do doesn't change," he says. Some of the film festival attendees will be able to bond over legacy screenings of classic Sundance titles such as Little Miss Sunshine, House Party, Saw, and a restoration of Gregg Araki's Mysterious Skin."Wouldn't be a Sundance without a Gregg Araki presence," Director of Programming Kim Yutani says. "I mean, just his influence on queer cinema is so significant. And I think one of the things that I have found so beautiful and heartening about a younger generation is that they have discovered his work."While younger audiences have discovered his classic films from the 90s and 2000s, Yutani is also excited for them to see Araki's new movie, I Want Your Sex. Cooper Hoffman and Olivia Wilde appear in I Want Your Sex by Gregg Araki, an official selection of the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. Courtesy of Sundance Institute | Photo by LaceyTerrell I Want Your Sex stars Philip Seymour Hoffman's son Cooper Hoffman as Elliot, who lands a job as a sexual muse for renowned and provocative artist Erika Tracy (Olivia Wilde). It also stars buzzy actors, including Daveed Diggs, Mason Gooding, Chase Sui Wonders, and Charli XCX."I think this new film of his is, it's such a great way for us all this new generation and his stalwart fans to experience new work at the same time, and I think that's really an exciting thing for us to be able to premiere this year," Yutani says.John Nein, senior programmer and director of Strategic Initiatives, says that featuring classic Araki alongside his new, "really funny and smart look at the art gallery world" is one way of "bridging this looking backwards while looking forward" in the festival's final year in Utah. The team is also excited about many of the queer documentaries premiering at this year's festival, including one that Nein says also contributes to reflection on the festival's legacy while looking toward its future.Nein mentions Byrdie O'Connor's film Barbara Forever, about legendary lesbian director Barbara Hammer. "Barbara had two films at Sundance, Nitrate Kisses (1993) and Tender Fictions (1996), and it's a really incredible film, and also one that is structured and stylized in a way that I think is really sort of in keeping with its subject matter."Sundance has also historically been home to many sports documentaries that stand the test of time, from boxing doc When We Were Kings, to Hoop Dreams, to O.J.: Made in America, to steroid expos Icarus. This year, two films about lesbian sport legends, The Brittney Griner Story and Give Me the Ball! (about trailblazing tennis star Billie Jean King) seek to join that lineage. Billie Jean King appears in Give Me the Ball! by Liz Garbus and Elizabeth Wolff, an official selection of the 2026 Sundance Film Festival Courtesy of Sundance Institute Yutani says that "you don't have to be a fan" of sports to enjoy Give Me the Ball! "Seeing and hearing Billie Jean King tell her own story in such an honest and open way" is a "revelation," she says."And then, with The Brittney Griner Story, I think that this is such a deep dive into what happened to BG, and the complete story around her," she says. "I think it is explored so beautifully in this documentary. It's directed by Alex Stapleton, who has had several films at the festival in the past. I just love those two films as kind of our main sports documentaries in the festival this year."Another doc, Jaripeo, explores the queer subculture in the sport of rodeo in Michoacn, Mexico. "It's just such a beautifully shot impressionistic look, and really revealing exploration, but also an invitation into a community," Hernandez says. The Sundance community will come together to explore these films and others from January 22, 2026, until February 1 in Park City, Utah. Video caught him tearing down a Pride flag. Kids helped the police identify him.

But when he returned, his Pride flag out front had been torn down. Two 10-year-olds standing in front of the shop told Lamb they saw the man who did it. Donald Trump ordered trans women inmates to be housed with men: There will be rapes
In his latest assault on transgender Americans, President Donald Trump has ordered federal prisons to house transgender women in mens facilities and halt their gender-related healthcare. The directive follows an executive order Trump issued on his first day in office declaring the federal government would recognize only two immutable sexes, male and female. Related Donald Trump may soon ban trans people in the military. Advocates say he wont get away with it. The executive order, titled Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government, also applies to immigration detainees in federal facilities. It does not address trans men held in detention. Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. Subscribe to our Newsletter today The directive requires all gender-related healthcare for trans women inmates to cease, ordering no federal funds be spent for any medical procedure, treatment, or drug for what the order describes as conforming an inmates appearance to that of the opposite sex.Advocates for transgender rights say the new policy will put transgender women in danger. There will be rapes and physical assaults because of this policy, Shannon Minter, legal director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights, told The New York Times. Its also terrible for prison officials, who right now have the authority to use discretion about what makes the most sense for the safety and security of the facility.Data from the Department of Justice indicates transgender prisoners are 10 times more likely to be sexually assaulted than straight prisoners. Were encouraged to see these protections for privacy in womens prisons and in rape shelters, ensuring that no woman ever has to face abuse, harassment, or the loss of privacy and dignity from a man sharing these intimate spaces, said Matt Sharp, senior counsel and director for public policy at the right-wing Alliance Defending Freedom. Multiple court cases have found housing transgender women in mens facilities and denying gender-related healthcare are violations of the Eight Amendment to the Constitution, which bars cruel and unusual punishment. Trumps order will likely be challenged on that basis. In 1994, the Supreme Court held that the government had a duty to protect transgender prisoners from violence in Farmer v. Brennan. The plaintiff in the case, Dee Farmer, said she had been raped while housed with men.Farmer now leads Fight4Justice, a nonprofit advocacy group for LGBTQ+ prisoners. Yesterday I got three calls from inmates who were in a panic about what was about to happen to them, she said. During the Obama administration, the Bureau of Prisons releasednew guidancethat transgender prisoners be housed according to their gender identity in most cases. In his first term, Trump narrowed that guidance to rare cases. President Joe Biden restored the Obama-era policy when he came to office.Trumps new order follows a campaign that prominently featured Vice President Kamala Harris support for transgender prisoners in California. Republicans spent $215 million on ads attacking Harris and Democrats on the issue.Roughly 1,500 federal prisoners are transgender women, according to the Bureau of Prisons, accounting for 15 percent of the total population of women in prison. 750 men identify as transgender out of about 144,000 male prisoners.About one percent of the U.S. population identify as transgender, according to UCLAs Williams Institute.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Lauren Boebert rages at Defense bill for not fully banning trans athletes: DEI madness
Anti-LGBTQ+ Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) is enraged over the latest version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which the House recently approved and which has toned down some of the anti-trans provisions from the original legislation. Boebert called the recently released negotiated draft the result of negotiations after the House and Senate each approved their own versions a garbage bill that she refused to vote for. Related Pete Buttigieg revealed the biggest scandal to hit the GOP in the 2024 election The House passed a strong bill. Whats coming back is a woke, pork-stuffed betrayal of our troops and our country, she wrote, decrying the fact that it funds DEI madness and still forces women in our military to compete against (and shower with) biological men pretending to be women. While the most recent version of the bill still contains anti-trans riders, it has indeed dialed back some of the original provisions. Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. Subscribe to our Newsletter today The provision banning the Defense Department from funding gender-affirming surgery, for example, has been completely removed, which trans journalist Erin Reed called a significant and unexpected victory. The bill still contains an anti-trans sports ban for folks attending military academies, but that provision has also been dialed back. The ban now applies exclusively to people enrolled at military academies, whereas it used to include people from other schools who came to compete. This bill funds DEI madness, is weak on border security, and is a gift to foreign countries that hate us. But it gets worse Rep. Lauren Boebert (@RepBoebert) December 10, 2025 That shift matters, Reed wrote. In practice, transgender military members are already being targeted for removal and a sports ban limited to enrolled cadets is far narrower than the previous proposal, which would have applied to the spaces themselves and swept in anyone competing there.Boebert also raged against the bill for being weak on border security, calling it a gift to foreign countries that hate us. And yes, this NDAA still forces women in our military to compete against (and shower with) biological men pretending to be women.Letting men dominate womens sports and invade their private spaces. Our female troops deserve better. Rep. Lauren Boebert (@RepBoebert) December 10, 2025 Shes also angry that the bill provides $400 million in aid to Ukraine over the next two years. Charity starts at home, and Americas wallet is not Zelenskyys personal ATM, she said. The House passed the bill on Wednesday in a 312-112 vote. 18 Republicans and 94 Democrats voted against it. The 13 best LGBTQ+ albums of 2025
Queer artists have been defining music for years, and 2026 was no different. With legends like Lady Gaga, Cardi B, and Tyler, the Creator releasing new albums, and rising artists like Lambrini Girls, Rebecca Black, and Lola Young combining, there's great queer music this year for lovers of just about every genre. These are the 13 albums by LGBTQ+ artists that the Out.com editors loved most in 2025.Related: Ranking the top 10 albums released by LGBTQ+ artists in 2024'Who Let the Dogs Out' - Lambrini GirlsThe one-hit-wonder-referencing title to Lambrini Girls's debut album hints at the Brighton-based punk band's anarchic sense of humor and also the animalistic energy the artists bring to the less-than-30-minute record. Songs like "Big Dick Energy," "No Homo," and, especially, the album's explosive closer, "Cuntology 101," scream and rage with the power of every queer kid who was ever told to tone themselves down. The album trashes gentrification, homophobia, transphobia, imperialism, male posturing, and ablism, and never takes its foot off the pedal.- Mey Rude'Mayhem' - Lady GagaThe world missed dark dance pop Gaga, and in 2025, the artist gave her fans the life-saving medicine they needed with Mayhem. Blazing singles "Disease" and "Abracadabra" quickly became gay club classics, and the album reminded fans across the world why they initially fell in love with Lady Gaga. In a world with a million pop stars, Mother Monster still knows how to stand out.- MR'LUX' - RosalaLUX is Rosalas highly anticipated follow-up to her critically acclaimed album, MOTOMAMI. The pressure was on to deliver a project that stood tall next to the craftsmanship of her last LP, but the auteur delivers all that and then some on this impeccably constructed work of art that traverses through genres and languages with soaring orchestral arrangements to simple acoustic instrumentals.- Moises Mendez'Don't Tap the Glass' - Tyler, the CreatorIt may not be as flashy or catchy as last year's epic Chromakopia, but Tyler, the Creator's follow-up album, Don't Tap the Glass, doesn't hold any punches. This is Tyler having fun and putting out dance floor bangers. Songs like "Sugar on My Tongue" and "Ring Ring Ring" are absolute vibes that let Tyler show off his skills and impeccable taste.- MR'Wishbone' - Conan GrayIn making this album, Conan Gray said that he secretly wrote songs over the past two years with no plans to actually release an album. He said in an Instagram caption that putting pen to paper inspired something [he] never felt before, writing that he started to need the music, thus Wishbone was born. The 27-year-old singers latest album highlights the power of his pen across this achingly beautiful 12-song project, which was produced by Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roans producer of choice, Dan Nigro.- MM'Salvation' - Rebecca BlackNearly 15 years into her music career, 28-year-old singer Rebecca Black is soaring to new heights with her second album, Salvation. Tracks like "Trust!," "Sugar Water Cyanide," and the title track "Salvation" sound like a next-generation disciple of Gaga and Charli XCX, while "Twist the Knife" fits in with Kim Petras's best tracks. Don't sleep on her.- MR'Am I the Drama?' - Cardi BFans have waited seven years for Cardi Bs follow-up to her Grammy Award-winning debut album, Invasion of Privacy. Finally, the Bronx rapper who was embroiled in a televised court case, an incredibly public divorce from the father of three of her kids, and a bitter years-long beef with rapper Nicki Minaj channeled all of her emotions into an LP jam-packed with her signature humor, biting disses, and bodacious bravado. On this album, she addresses all of her critics but also wears her heart on her sleeve on songs like Whats Goin On featuring Lizzo and Man of Your Word featuring Dougie F. In short, Cardi made the seven-year wait worth it.- MM'Dreamsicle' - Maren MorrisAfter a public feud with country singer Jason Aldean and his wife over trans rights, divorcing her husband, and coming out as bisexual, Maren Morris released her first new album in three years, the poppy and dreamy Dreamsicle. Moving toward a pop-singer-songwriter sound and away from country, songs like "Lemonade," "Bed No Breakfast," and "Cut!" showcase her vocal skills and empowered attitude. "Too Good" is an irresistible "f you" to all of her haters, showing that she's still moving forward despite all of her recent troubles.- MR 'I'm Only F***ing Myself' - Lola YoungLola Youngs career trajectory hit a standstill after she collapsed on stage at the All Things Go music festival earlier this year. Since then, shes put a pause on live performances, which means fans will be missing out on the British pop singers rock-tinged music style that was on full display on her third album, Im Only F***ing Myself, which is filled to the brim with her arresting vocals on songs like SPIDERS, Post Sex Clarity, and CAN WE IGNORE IT? :(.- MM'Smoochies' - AshnikkoPansexual pop star Ashnikko revels in all aspects of her sexuality in this hilarious and high-energy album. Written after breaking up with her long-term partner, Arlo Parks, Ashnikko reclaims her slut power and hedonistic pride on Smoochies, singing about sex with people of all genders, "Itty Bitty" skirts as a source of strength, and collecting treasures like trinkets to keep sane in a crazy world.- MR'Lethal' - Rico NastyRico Nastys career was turbo-charged and seemed too big to fail from the beginning. Shed carved out an exhilarating niche in the rap-rock arena, giving her listeners the catharsis of letting out all the rage and anger theyve bottled up. After parting ways with her long-time managers and A&Rs, she was able to hone her talents on a spectacular new album called LETHAL that perfectly blends her gruff vocals with her braggadocios lyrics.- MM'hexed!' - ayaBritish artist Aya Sinclair, known as aya, released her second album in 2025, and delivered a symphony of glitches, club beats, synthetic sounds, and caustic lyrics about queer life, addiction, and mental health. It's Aphex Twin by way of Ethel Cain, dipped in acid and thrown down the stairs. It might not be the easiest album for a casual music fan to listen to, but it's worth the journey.- MR'No Hard Feelings' - The BeachesThe Canadian rock band The Beaches has been releasing music since 2013, and the artists found some success in their home country before finally achieving crossover success with their delectable 2023 single, Blame Brett. The song found a life of its own on social media, gaining them a newfound audience outside of Canada, just in time for the release of their latest album, No Hard Feelings, filled with wall-to-wall bangers showcasing their airy, bright, guitar-heavy songs about the queer experience. Standout tracks on the album are songs like Did I Say Too Much, Lesbian of the Year, Last Girls at the Party, and Dirty Laundry.- MM

The actor suffered massive head injuries and died at Mount Sinai West. The driver, identified only as a 61-year-old man, was turning left onto Broadway from West 53rd. He remained at the scene and faced no immediate charges as cops continue to investigate the crash, according to the Daily News.Davis listed they/them pronouns on their Instagram profile, but friends have used she/her pronouns.I can only describe Wenne Davis as a bright light, the actors agent, Jamie Harris of Clear Talent Group, said in a statement to The Advocate. She had a huge love for New York, for acting, and, most of all, for her family and her circle of friends (which was also huge). She was someone for whom friendliness and kindness were not what she did but more who she was as a person. Ive talked to many of her friends in the past few days and all of them spoke of her generous spirit and love of life. We all agree that she had much more to do in her career as an actor and her life. Literally, no one Ive spoken to can believe that shes no longer with us. Marjorie Taylor Greene says GOP leader promised a vote on her bill to put pro-trans doctors in jail
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said that she has struck a deal with House Republican leadership to get the chamber to vote on her bill that would ban transgender health care for trans youth nationwide and make getting such care harder for trans adults.Posting on X, Greene said that House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) promised that her so-called Protect Childrens Innocence Act would come up for a vote if she voted for the NDAA, a large appropriations bill that funds the military. Several other far-right Republicans, like Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), voted against the NDAA because it didnt contain certain policy measures they wanted. Related Marjorie Taylor Greenes resignation shows that Trump & MAGA arent the same thing I made a deal and changed my NO vote on the rule to a Yes in exchange for a floor vote next week on my bill that is one of President Trumps key campaign promises and executive orders, Greene wrote. Subscribe to our Newsletter today The House passed the NDAA on Wednesday in a 312-112 vote. 18 Republicans and 94 Democrats voted against it. The Senate is expected to approve it soon.Greene has already announced her resignation from the House and has said her last day in Congress will be in early January, which may be why she was told the vote would happen this month. The LGBTQ+ organization HRC denounced her anti-trans legislation.Politicians like Marjorie Taylor Greene and her enablers, who are breathlessly obsessed with using their power to terrorize transgender people, believe they know better than parents and doctors, said HRC President Kelley Robinson in a statement. Now, anti-equality members of the House may consider a bill to put doctors in prison just for doing their jobs. That could mean a pediatrician facing jail time for providing the care they were trained to provide. It could mean a parent being handcuffed and tossed into a police car because they went to the pharmacy and administered their childs medication as prescribed. Our leaders should be working out a solution to the impending crisis of soaring health care costs and ensuring every child has access to quality health care not dreaming up new ways to use the power of government to tear peoples lives apart. We will not rest until this bill is defeated.Earlier this week, Greene complained that the House leadership didnt take women seriously because no vote was scheduled for her bill, which does nothing to protect womens rights. The bill, which Greene has been trying to push through Congress for several years, would ban transgender youth from accessing gender-affirming care and make it harder for trans adults to get such care by banning government insurance programs from paying for it and banning medical schools from teaching about it. Despite Greenes characterization of the bill in various media appearances, gender-affirming care for minors almost never involves surgery and instead involves allowing younger kids to play with the toys they like and wear the clothes they like, as well as use the correct name andpronounsfor the child. For older teens, it involves reversible puberty blockers and hormone therapy, which have beenshown to reduce lifelong suicide riskfor transgender people and are supported by major medical associations in the U.S., including the American Medical Association, the Endocrine Society, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.Last year,Greene lied during testimonyin the House when she claimed that there are many young people that made the tragic mistakes of having mastectomies, having castrations done to them, having genital mutilation surgeries when they were still in their early, uh, teens, um, maybe even before they were teenagers. She alsocalleda trans-affirming mom evil and mentally ill while promoting the bill.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Hate preacher demands Christians start calling gay men fa***ts
Anti-LGBTQ+ hate pastor Joel Webbon has a message for Christians: Use more slurs when talking about gay men.Webbon, who founded Right Response Ministries and is the senior pastor of the Covenant Bible Church in Austin, Texas, has a history of extreme statements, including a claim that 17% of gay men eat feces, that women shouldnt have the right to vote, and that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr is in hell. Related Christian pastor explains why he uses so many slurs Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. Subscribe to our Newsletter today Homosexuality is degenerate, Webbon said this week in an episode of his podcast,in a video captured by Right Wing Watch. It is bad for the populace. Its bad for society. Its been incredibly harmful.Weve seen a full court press against our own children as the sacrificial lamb in order to appease older gay men and make them feel better about themselves. Its wicked. Its predatory, he continued, drawing on the old, false negative stereotype that LGBTQ+ people are a threat to children. And I think it is appropriate for us to be able to call it what it is and say, Wait a second, this is perverse, its wicked, its fa***try, and it needs to stop.'Yes, you can use that word on occasion, as I just did, to say, No, were not going to tolerate fa***try with our children. Cut it out. Stop it. Say Christ is Lord. Stop it.' He specified that he didnt want people to use that word so much that it gets trivialized, but I dont think that its a sin to say fa***t in its proper context. I think you can be a Christian who fears the Lord and say, Enough is enough.' Webbon then brought up a social media video from four years ago from the San Francisco Gay Mens Chorus where they joked that they are going to convert your children to being tolerant and fair towards people who are different from them, something that conservatives at the time falsely said was a form of pedophilia.Youve got the San Francisco Gay Choir a couple years ago writing songsand it was not a jokeWell convert your children,' Webbon said. No, stop it, fa***ts. No, you will not convert my children. Youre degenerates, youre predators, and youre evil. In the name of Jesus Christ, stop it. Back into the shadows.Webbon went on to say that he believes that society only has room for LGBTQ+ people or Christians; the idea that Christians can live in peace with people who are different from them is apparently unimaginable.Every society will have a closet and there will either be Christian children hiding in that closet with their parents, ostracized from society, or you will have sexual degenerates in that closet, he said. And so yes, call me a radical [but] I think the sexual degenerates are the ones, the members of society, that should be in the closet, not Christian families and their children. The surprising reason Trump is so disturbed by people questioning his health
Many have voiced alarm over a long, rambling post by Donald Trump on Truth Social in which he admitted to taking multiple cognitive tests while surrounded by doctors and also called it treasonous to question his health. Many agree that the presidents vehement and repeated denials of his failing health are an admission that he is unwell. One columnist drew a stark parallel between Trumps behavior and that of his former mentor, the late gay lawyer Roy Cohn, who denied he was suffering from AIDS up until he died from the disease in 1986. In his worldview, illness meant weakness, and weakness meant forfeiting control. You didnt admit it. You didnt hint at it. And you certainly didnt let journalists see it.This, Casey explains, is why Trump doesnt just claim he is okay; he hyperbolizes everything, insisting he is one of the healthiest people ever. Trumps recent post, for example, declared, I go out of my way to do long, thorough, and very boring Medical Examinations at the Great Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, seen and supervised by top doctors, all of whom have given me PERFECT Marks Some have even said they have never seen such Strong Results.Casey explains, The point isnt medical accuracy. The point is that only a traitor would question the invincibility ofKing Donald Trump, a 79-year-old elderly man whose perfect days are long behind him.In his rambling Truth Social post, Trump calls out the New York Times as seditious, perhaps even treasonous for questioning his health. Casey calls it striking that the president is so fixated on the story, considering it is over two weeks old. Trump can dismissballroom architectsin a heartbeat, but he cant let this Times piece go. The fact that hes still raging about it is telling.Casey goes on to say that Trumps lies and exaggerations are Cohn speaking through him and that our focus shouldnt only be on what is actually happening to Trumps health but also on how thoroughly Trump relies on Cohns rules to manage reality. He cannot allow transparency. He cannot tolerate scrutiny. He cannot permit the idea that his body, like every body, is vulnerable to time.He also cant admit any political vulnerability, Casey adds. Its why he lashes out at any acknowledgment of mistakes. Its whyunfavorable polls are fake, court losses and elections rigged, investigative reporting treason.' From Cohn, Casey concludes, Trump learned that the truth doesnt matter as long as the illusion is airtight. I do these Tests because I owe it to our Country, the president wrote. In addition to the Medical, I have done something that no other President has done, on three separate occasions, the last one being recently, by taking what is known as a Cognitive Examination, something which few people would be able to do very well, including those working at The New York Times, and I ACED all three of them in front of large numbers of doctors and experts, most of whom I do not know. I have been told that few people have been able to ace this Examination and, in fact, most do very poorly, which is why many other Presidents have decided not to take it at all.Casey believes these claims can be easily explained. When Trump doesnt want you to see something, he overkills, overcompensates, and overreacts. Thats when you know something is very, very wrong.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Intention, creativity, & hope: LGBTQ+ family-building trends to watch in 2026
As we look ahead to 2026, one thing feels clear: LGBTQ+ people are continuing to build families in record numbers, but were doing so with greater intention, higher expectations, and a growing insistence on equitable, affirming care. The landscape of fertility, surrogacy, adoption, and foster care is evolving rapidly, shaped by cultural shifts, policy changes, and the lived experiences of queer families across the country.Based on what were seeing at GWK Academy through our partners, prospective parents, mentors, and community here are six trends I believe will help define LGBTQ+ family building in the year ahead. Related These gay dads built families during the AIDS crisis. Their stories are blueprints for endurance. Growing demand for affirming providers across all paths to parenthood | Shutterstock Never Miss a Beat Subscribe to our newsletter to stay ahead of the latest LGBTQ+ political news and insights. Subscribe to our Newsletter today LGBTQ+ people have always had to navigate systems that werent built with us in mind, but 2026 will be the year more prospective parents push back and insist on working only with clinics, agencies, attorneys, and professionals who are truly affirming. This moment has been building for years. Families are no longer satisfied with we treat everyone the same. Instead, we should all insist on:Working with providers trained in LGBTQ+ cultural competenceBeing presented with clear, inclusive intake processesBeing supported by staff who understand the unique emotional and logistical realities of queer family buildingExperiencing transparent, affirming communication at every stepThis shift is why we are developing a Provider Affirming Certification specifically for the fertility industry. This new program created in collaboration with leading fertility experts and LGBTQ+ health advocates is designed to help IVF clinics and fertility-care teams deepen their understanding of queer family-building needs and deliver care that is affirming, informed, and culturally competent. In 2026, families will increasingly choose fertility providers who understand them not those who simply tolerate them. More ways for prospective parents to predict & control costs | ShutterstockFinancial unpredictability remains one of the biggest barriers LGBTQ+ people face when building their families. But in 2026, we expect a surge in tools, transparent pricing models, and bundled services aimed at helping families more fully understand the cost of their journey. Were already seeing:Clinics offering clearer breakdowns of IVF, donor, and surrogacy costsMore inclusive financing optionsEarly-stage planning tools for donor conceptionTransparent surrogacy agency fee structuresGrowing use of cost-comparison toolsThese innovations dont make family building inexpensive, but they empower LGBTQ+ families with information and control. That alone can change the trajectory of someones path to parenthood. Expanded mental health support tailored to LGBTQ+ family building | ShutterstockMental health support has long been an under-discussed part of LGBTQ+ family building. In 2026, that begins to change.Across every path to parenthood fertility, adoption, foster care, surrogacy queer people face unique emotional challenges that traditional support systems often overlook. Thats why were bringing together a group of LGBTQ+ mental health experts to develop new resources, guidance, and tools designed specifically for our community. These resources will address:Anxiety and uncertainty during long waitsGrief and loss when journeys take unexpected turnsNavigating non-affirming systems or providersThe emotional realities of donor conceptionIdentity-specific needs for trans and nonbinary parents-to-beI believe 2026 will mark a shift in which emotional preparedness becomes as essential as financial planning. More nuanced adoption education | ShutterstockOne of the clearest LGBTQ+ family-building trends heading into 2026 is a shift toward more thoughtful, identity-aware adoption education. Prospective parents are no longer satisfied with basic overviews of how adoption works. Instead, theyre engaging more deeply with the nuances that shape an adoptees experience and an adoptive parents responsibilities especially within LGBTQ+ families, where visibility, openness, and community often play unique roles.Families are asking more informed questions about openness with birth families, trauma-informed parenting practices, and the developmental needs of adopted children. Theyre also seeking clarity around the differences between private adoption and adoption from foster care, as well as how state-specific laws and timelines can shape an adoption journey. This move toward more intentional, grounded preparation reflects a growing commitment among LGBTQ+ parents to build families in ways that honor childrens identities, histories, and long-term well-being. Meaningful progress in trans & nonbinary family-building support | ShutterstockWhile trans and nonbinary people have built families for decades, the fertility and reproductive health systems have not always met them with affirming or informed care. That is finally starting to shift.More clinics, agencies, and support programs are:Updating intake systems to reflect all gender identitiesOffering more nuanced fertility-preservation pathwaysCreating protocols for gender-affirming care alongside fertility treatmentTraining staff on trans-specific reproductive needsWere committed to continuing this progress through our upcoming course modules and expert-led content designed specifically for trans and nonbinary parents-to-be. In 2026, we expect more providers to embrace these standards as the baseline. A rise in community-driven storytelling, education, & peer support | ShutterstockAs LGBTQ+ people continue to navigate fragmented systems, one of the most powerful forces shaping 2026 will be community itself.Families are increasingly turning to peer support, mentorship, and shared experiences to make informed choices and feel less alone on their journey. Through GWK Academy, we see firsthand the transformative power of:Mentorship programsProspective parent coachingPeer-to-peer guidanceStorytelling that reflects the full diversity of LGBTQ+ familiesThis collective knowledge is becoming a vital resource one that not only empowers families but reshapes the broader landscape of care. In 2026, we expect community-driven education to become one of the most influential tools LGBTQ+ people rely on as they build their families. The GWK Academy promise | ShutterstockIf 2025 taught us anything, its that LGBTQ+ people continue to build families with intention, creativity, and hope even when circumstances are challenging or uncertain. Our promise at GWK Academy is that as we move into 2026, well keep working toward a landscape where every LGBTQ+ person can access the support, information, and affirming care they deserve.VisitGWK Academytoday, and take your first step toward becoming a parent. This holiday, make room for a season thats all of the jingle and none of the jangle
The holidays have a particular sound: bells, music, wrapping paper being shredded open, oven timers going off, full-volume laughter, and at least one relative yelling, Did anyone see where I put my phone?!Its joyful, yes, but its also pure, unfiltered chaos consisting of a glittery whirlwind of plans, noise, and last-minute, Wait, we forgot a gift for the neighbors dog! emergencies. And somewhere in the middle of that storm is your phone, working overtime. If your holiday season looks anything like mine, your notifications multiply the moment Thanksgiving leftovers hit the fridge.Group chats erupt. Plans shift constantly due to delayed flights and people who can't remember whose house theyre supposed to be at. Youre expected to be in all of the family photos. Your queer friends start scheduling their annual Friendsmas and immediately contradict one another on the availability spreadsheet. Youre shopping online, tracking packages, sending digital cards, juggling playlists, and trying to keep your head above the holiday snowdrift. It is, in a word, jangly. The jangle is the static of seasonal overstimulation, the mental clutter that builds when your phone becomes command central for everything from recipes to RSVPs to emergency gift lists. And every year, we swear well be less stressed, but every year, the notifications double like caffeinated elves.Heres the gift we all deserve this season: Less digital chaos.Verizons holiday message this year speaks right to that. While the world is constantly jingling as loudly as it can, they want to help keep your connections clear, calm, and jangle-free. Think of it as the quiet magic beneath the wrapping paperthe part of the holiday that keeps everything running smoothly without demanding applause.Their network reliability becomes the unsung hero of the season, grounding your holiday scrolls, calls, video chats, and last-minute shopping sprees with the same steadiness as a perfectly lit tree that somehow survives the cat.The truth is, so much of our December mayhem happens through our phones. At this point, technology isnt just part of the holiday; its the infrastructure holding it together.Picture yourself carrying eight bags of groceries while FaceTiming your partner to confirm (yet again) whether you bought the wrong brand of butter. Or your nephew attempting to show off his new baseball bat over a shaky connection that keeps freezing on his excited face.Think about the panic of tracking the one package that absolutely cannot arrive late. The friend group scrambling to finalize the potluck menu. The chaotic series of texts that make up holiday travel: Gate changed! Now it changed back! Now its boarding??During moments like these, reliability feels like peace, and peace is rare in December.Yes, the season is loud between the carols, cousins, and clattering baking sheets, but it can also be profoundly lonely. Thats why a stable connection isnt just convenient; its grounding.Sometimes jangle-free means:A clear call with the friend you miss the most.A smooth video chat with your family when you cant make it home.A message delivered exactly when you need reassurance.A holiday playlist that doesnt buffer during the best part.Or a strong enough signal to help you navigate across town to the only store still open.In a year when everything moves fast, plans shift in five-second increments, and the world feels just as loud as ever, little moments of clarity make a huge difference. And if you do want to lean into that extra holiday sparkle, Verizons Apple Bundle adds a little more magic. The new iPhone 17, iPad, and Apple Watch Series 11 help organize the chaos, streamline your plans, and keep everything running with winter-smooth ease. Its the tech version of lighting a candle, taking a breath, and letting things fall into place. The holidays will always have a little janglethats part of the charmbut your connection doesnt have to.This year, permit yourself to embrace the noise while protecting your calm. Let the tech handle the frenzy so you can focus on what actually matters: the people (and pets) you love.

Meta accused of banning LGBTQ+ accounts in one of its biggest waves of censorship ever
Meta the parent company of Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and WhatsApp has reportedly disabled or shadow-banned the accounts of more than 50 abortion providers, queer organizations, and reproductive healthcare organizations around the world over the past few months. What an advocate described as one of the biggest waves of censorship on the companys platforms began in October and appears to be an escalation of Metas Trump-era approach to abortion and LGBTQ+ related content, The Guardian reports. Related Mark Zuckerberg taps anti-LGBTQ+ activist to advise Meta on AI bias While many of the organizations whose accounts were removed or restricted are based in the U.K. and Europe, groups serving women in Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East have also been affected.Metas alleged actions come nearly a year after The Guardian reported on the companys shadow-banning (severely limiting the number of users who can see certain accounts content) of accounts of organizations that help Americans access abortion pills. Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. Subscribe to our Newsletter today This past October, Paige Collings with Electronic Freedom Foundation told The Bay Area Reporter that censorship of LGBTQ+ content on Instagram has noticeably increased since November 2024. She described the company as engaging in algorithmic silencing of LGBTQ+ content on Instagram.Within this last year, especially since the new US presidency, we have seen a definite increase in accounts being taken down not only in the US, but also worldwide as a ripple effect, Martha Dimitratou, executive director of nonprofit Repro Uncensored, told The Guardian. The organization has tracked over 200 instances of accounts related to reproductive health being removed or restricted in all of 2025 compared to the 81 it tracked in 2024.This has been, to my knowledge, at least one of the biggest waves of censorship we are seeing, Dimitratou said. In a statement, Meta pushed back on accusations that it is targeting specific content on its platforms. Every organization and individual on our platforms is subject to the same set of rules, and any claims of enforcement based on group affiliation or advocacy are baseless, the statement read. Our policies and enforcement regarding abortion medication-related content have not changed: we allow posts and ads promoting healthcare services like abortion, as well as discussion and debate around them, as long as they follow our policies. But as Kinga Jelinska, executive director of Netherlands-based nonprofit Women Help Women, noted, Meta rarely specifies which policies have been violated or how. Women Help Women received a message from the company in November stating that its Facebook page had been shut down because it does not follow our Community Standards on prescription drugs. They just removed it. Thats it. We dont even know which post it was about, Jelinska said.Meta claimed that over half of the accounts tracked by Repro Uncensored have been reinstated. Carolina Are, a fellow at Northumbria Universitys Centre for Digital Citizens, told The Guardian that the claim fits Metas pattern of reinstating accounts following public pressure. However, Are criticized the companys appeals process for banned accounts, which Meta itself admitted has become frustratingly slow. For example, a Meta employee sent a personal message to one affected organization saying bans would likely continue and advising them to start a mailing list rather than rely on the companys platforms.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Pronoun respect for trans youth can reduce suicide risk by over 30%, study finds
For transgender and nonbinary young people (aged 18-24), having the majority of people in their lives respect their pronouns could drastically reduce the likelihood of them attempting suicide, a new study from The Trevor Project finds. This is particularly relevant as many trans and nonbinary (TGNB) people will be spending the holidays with family members who might not be supportive. These findings underscore a pressing need to increase pronoun respect for TGNB young people, as it represents a core expression of affirmation, dignity, and recognition of their humanity, the authors of the report say. We found that less than half of TGNB young people reported that they experienced pronoun respect from a lot or most/all of the people in their lives. Related The Trevor Project saved my life. Now its losing millions in federal funding thanks to Trump. The study found that TGNB people who felt their pronouns were respected were 31% less likely to report a suicide attempt in the previous 12 months. For those who had their pronouns respected, only 11% reported an attempt, compared to 17% of those who were not respected. At the extreme ends, of those who said that None of the people I know respected their pronouns, 23% had attempted suicide in the last year. At the other end of the spectrum, only 10% of those who responded All or most of the people I know said they had made an attempt. Never Miss a Beat Subscribe to our newsletter to stay ahead of the latest LGBTQ+ political news and insights. Subscribe to our Newsletter today Those numbers are particularly shocking given that only 46% of the TGNB young people surveyed reported that their pronouns were respected by a lot, most, or all of the people in their lives. While highlighting the impact of respecting pronouns, the study also gave insight into which pronouns people use and how that might help to address barriers to pronouns being respected. Of those surveyed, only 32% used purely binary pronouns (he/him or she/her). A combination of binary and non-binary pronouns was used by 32% (such as she/they, or they/him), and 15% used the nonbinary pronoun they/them.Crucially, that means that 27% of respondents reported using neopronouns (such as variations on xi/xe, zi/ze, or it/its) or used any/all pronouns, which many people are likely to be less familiar with and might have a harder time respecting without first overcoming some internal biases. The report digs into this, noting the need for additional research to understand these barriers to pronoun respect. In the meantime, they suggest building broader awareness and appreciation of diverse pronoun identities and following the lead of young people when they share their pronoun, and promoting inclusive practices across settings. Its not about knowing every pronoun that exists and memorizing them and getting it right 100 percent of the time, Steven Hobaica, the lead research scientist for the report, told The Advocate. Its about effort, and just attempting to be respectful and kind to people. Just doing your best to meet youth where theyre at, and listening to them and doing your best to respect them.Theres this idea that people think that youth cant know themselves, and thats just not true, Hobaica says. All data that we have on this topic, as well as our own lived experiences with identity, where many of us have very firm understandings of our identity at very young ages. These things dont just change overnight. Youth dont come to parents to talk about their gender the first time that they have a thought. This new report from The Trevor Project builds on previous studies that have shown how support can help to reduce the risk of suicide in trans and nonbinary people. That ranges from the understanding that gender-affirming care is life-saving care to the idea that accepting adults in a trans persons life can reduce the likelihood of a suicide attempt. However, this new study highlights the impact of individual facets of that affirmation, and it is not clear to what degree pronoun respect and broader gender affirmation from others actually overlap.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

'Heated Rivalry' star on being a 'freak' and fans talking about his butt: 'I love it'
The overwhelming popularity of Heated Rivalry has meant that the stars of the show have been catapulted to fame, and now theyre opening up about their butts, their freak status, and oral fixations. Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams star as Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander, respectively, rival hockey players who give into their intense attraction to one another and start a years-long secret affair. The shows runaway success has led to an overwhelming obsession with Storries impressive butt and the intense sexual chemistry and gay yearning at the heart of the rivals-to-lovers romance, something that Storrie and Williams are aware of. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Storrie admitted to knowing that his butt has been a big topic of conversation among fans before Williams told him, Its a great butt. (@) Despite how odd it must be to go from being a relatively unknown actor to having fans on social media discussing your body parts, Storrie doesnt seem to mind.I think I saw someone say that I am America's ass, which I was not expecting that at all, he said. But, yeah, I love it. I'll take it. Feels good. When it comes to those intensely erotic sex scenes the show has become known for, Storrie and Williams say that when they watch them, they are seeing the mechanics that went into making them. The fans get spontaneity, but we see mechanics. We see technique, rehearsal, Williams said. "We see Chala [Hunter, intimacy coordinator] going, Knee little higher! Knee little lower! Hide your, like, little ballet slipper.Storrie admitted that those moments dont feel overtly sexual or raunchy to him because hes the one in the scene, but Williams explained that things are different for fans who are witnessing two people find a sexual language."The two actors have grown increasingly close over the course of filming the show and the press tour, and fans have remarked on how comfortable they are with each other, including in a new viral video of Storrie and Williams doing an interpretive dance where they manage to combine their bodies into an impressive pretzel.Very plainly spoken, me and Hudson are freaks, Storrie said when asked about the video. We're clowns. We just love to riff and have fun and go crazy, and those were two situations where we were caught off guard doing our thing. The wrap party, that was all improvised. I think we were just putting on a show.See on InstagramHeated Rivalry will end after six episodes, but there is the potential for a second season, considering Ilya and Shanes love story continues in Rachel Reids series of gay hockey romance novels that the show is based on. While we havent gotten confirmation yet that there will definitely be a second season although it seems likely based on the show's success Williams teased that Shanes oral fixation will continue if they get picked up for another season."So when there was not a straw in my drink, I would ask them to give me one, he said of Shane always chewing on things like his hoodies drawstring. If I'm texting, I'm putting the thing in my mouth. I'm always putting things in my mouth! And I'll continue to do that for season...if we get another season. There'll just be more things in my mouth.

Appeals court mulls upholding ruling striking down Pentagons HIV enlistment ban
Attorneys from Lambda Legal urged a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Richmond, Virginia, on Tuesday to affirm a ruling that struck down the militarys categorical ban on enlisting people living with HIV, calling the decades-old policy unconstitutional and medically baseless.Keep up with the latest in LGBTQ+ news and politics. Schoettes and Linda Coberly defended the decision, emphasizing that the military has already been successfully processing enlistments of qualified individuals with HIV for more than a year under the district courts injunction. An affirmance, he said, would definitively close any loopholes left by earlier rulings.Coberly, a partner at Winston & Strawn, called the enlistment ban a holdover from a long era of needless discrimination, saying it had long outlived any claimed justification. The lawsuit was filed in 2022 on behalf of three individual plaintiffs including former Army Reservist Isaiah Wilkins, who was disenrolled from the U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School after testing positive for HIV and Minority Veterans of America, which represents civilians living with HIV who want to serve.Related: HRC, Lambda Legal sue to stop Trump's transgender military banEarlier court victories in Roe v. Top 5 gay sex positions of 2025 & how to make them even hotter, according to experts
Spotify Unwrapped may tell you about your listening habits throughout the year, but when popular gay cruising app Squirt gets in on the analytical action, we learn all about what turned on gay men in 2025. Squirt Unloadeds naughty stats showed us who the top gay adult performers are, that daddies and bears were the most sought-after types of men on the app, and which porn categories are the most popular (hint: its bareback, orgy, and amateur). But it was the Popular Sex Positions category that may have been the most surprising. Doggy style, missionary, cowboy, side-by-side, and trotting topped the list. Experimenting with wild sexual poisons can be fun, but the old standbys like doggy style and missionary are what everyone returns to time and time again. Theyre classics for a reason! This spicy list got us thinking: how can you get the most out of the most popular sex positions of 2025? So we talked to Sofie Roos, a bisexual licensed sexologist, relationship therapist, and author at relationship magazine Passionerad, to get the scoop on how you can maximize your pleasure when trying these moves in the bedroom. 1. Doggy StyleEveryone is probably familiar with this one, but the penetrating partner usually stands or kneels behind someone who is usually bent over on their hands and knees although you can also do this one standing or lying down. Roos says, the angle is everything when youre trying to make this position as hot as possible. "The one being penetrated can arch their lower back, or the one penetrating can stand on their feet and hang in over their partner, which gives a deeper penetration that stimulates the prostate, she tells PRIDE.But you can also do this one while standing, having your partner lean over a piece of furniture like a table or couch, or they can brace their hands against a wall and bend at the waist. If the bottom is flexible, they can even take support from the floor by bending over and leaning their hands against it, which makes a very hot version of doggy, she says.Roos also recommends having the bottom stroke their penis while being penetrated, while the top tweaks their nipples. Remember to communicate around rhythm and depth as doggy style is a very intense sex position, and lastly try to stimulate also other erogenous zones at the same time, she says.2.MissionaryHopefully missionary being number two on Squirt's list will end straight peoples belief that gay men cant do this particular sex position Red, White & Royal Blue really shouldnt have had to teach them that. But if youve missed out on trying this more intimate position, youre in luck because Roos has tips on how to take things up a notch. In this position, one partner lies on top of the other, but that doesnt mean things have to be boring. The partner on the bottom can put your legs over their partners shoulders, which will open you up for a greater angle towards your prostate, which can lead to pleasurable p-spot orgasms, she says. You can also combine this with putting a pillow under your lower back to get deeper penetration,I recommend gays to slow down the tempo, Roos advises. The missionary is by many seen as vanilla and a position you should have rough for it to be interesting, but lowering the tempo and focusing on soft, slow and deep movements can be surprisingly hot, so try that!3.Cowboy/ridingWith cowboy, the partner doing the penetrating is either lying down or sitting while the bottom rides them from a sitting or kneeling position. By leaning more forward or backwards as the one on top, you create a better position for penetrating your prostate, which can lead to amazing orgasms, especially if combined with going back and forth instead of up and down over the dick, as that makes it rub more intensely against the p-spot, Roos highly recommends. The trick with this position is to make sure you are stabilizing yourself so that you dont tire yourself out too quickly. The one riding can put their hands on the partners thighs for more stabilization, but you can also put your hands against the headboard or hold your partners hands, she says. And dont forget to use your legs as well, where the knees closer to your partner's body makes more stabilization, while having them far out leads to increased mobility. You can also switch things up and try out reverse cowboy by turning around and facing away from your partner!4.Side-by-sideThis is a sex position you do while lying down in a spooning position, with the person doing the penetrating taking on the role of the big spoon. If youre the one in the bottom position (the little spoon), you can draw one of your knees up to your chest to feel the penetration even deeper. The person doing the penetrating also has easy access to their partners nipples and penis, so Roos recommends stimulating both. For the ones wanting to try something more advanced, you can have side-by-side in the bed against a wall, and put a suction cup dildo which the penetrator gets penetrated by during the session, leading to double stimulation, she says.5.FrottingFrotting usually involves either rubbing your penises together to create friction or using your hands to hold both penises and jerk them off together. Lube is always a good idea, but Roos says its extra important here, so you should invest in a thicker, longer-lasting silicone option to get the most out of the experience.Experiment with different amounts of pressure, rhythms, angles, and speeds to figure out what feels best to both of you. And dont forget to stimulate your partners balls. Explore frotting in different positions and situations, she says. You dont need to lay down in a bed, but can stand, sit against each other, you can be face to face, in the car, in the forest, in the shower or on the sofa, or why not in the kitchen, so get creative.

Nancy Grace blames transgender people for her public airport freak-out
Anti-LGBTQ+ Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), who is running for South Carolina governor, blamed transgender people for her public meltdown that occurred at the Charleston International Airport on October 30. A police reportsaid Mace turned a minor security miscommunication into a swear-filled spectacle that left airport employees visibly upset. Mace accused police of lying about the incident. When asked on Thursday what happened by Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo, Mace replied, We have to take our security very seriously. If youre conservative, if youre well known, if you have fought the transgender community like I have, exponentially in the wake of Charlie Kirks public assassination the death threats, the amount of political violence, the celebration of the killing of conservatives, is deeply disturbing. DHS says man is being deported for being a sodomite. His lawyer says its all lies.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published an X post on Tuesday announcing that it recently began deportation proceedings against sodomite Jair Celis Lecuona, a 29-year-old father and soccer coach in Utah who immigrated from Mexico as a child and is currently married to a woman. Agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) allegedly took Lecuona into custody right before his final interview to receive a permanent resident card. The DHS social media post accused Lecuona of being a predator for his alleged criminal history for sodomy of a child and sexual abuse of a child. Though juvenile court records show that Lecuona admitted to having unlawful sexual contact with a minor when he, too, was a minor, the evidence in the charge was adjudicated by a judge, rather than verified in a court trial, Celis lawyer Adam Crayk told The Salt Lake Tribune, adding that such state-level juvenile offenses arent considered convictions that can support a persons detention or deportation by DHS. Related Kristi Noem wrongfully deports Mexican trans woman to face torture at home DHS edited a screenshot of a Salt Lake Tribune headline atop a December 9 article about Lecuonas arrest. The original headline said, A Utah soccer coach was following exactly process to get legal status but ICE arrested him anyway. On his green card application he listed his occupation as a youth soccer coach. While illegally overstaying his visa, he was arrested for these heinous crimes against children. This predator has been placed in removal proceedings. If you break the law, you will face the consequences, DHS added. We are not going to give green cards to child predators.DISGUSTING AND REVOLTING! @sltrib has completely lost the plot in their indefensible spin for a SODOMITE AND CHILD ABUSER.Here are the facts: Jair Celis Lecuona has a criminal history for sodomy of a child and sexual abuse of a child.Lecuona entered the U.S. on a tourist visa pic.twitter.com/iYIIWcbJs6 Homeland Security (@DHSgov) December 9, 2025 However, Crayk called the DHS claim libelous, untrue, and a violation of laws that require government agencies to get a persons written consent before disclosing their private non-federal records of state-level juvenile justice proceedings. Crayk also noted that Lecuonas juvenile justice records have nothing to do with Lecuonas current detainment and deportation proceedings.Lecuona did enter the U.S. in July 2007 on a tourist visa that required him to leave by Jan. 1, 2008; he turned 11 between those two dates. Then, between March 1, 2014, and April 30, 2014 when Lecuona was 17 years old he allegedly had nonconsensual sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl who attended his ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake County. Crayk said all the contact was consensual. The girl told Murray Police Detective Tyson Badovinatz that on one occasion, Lecuona kissed and touched her, scaring her into leaving his side. She also said on another occasion that Lecuona got her behind closed doors, touched her, and made her touch his genitals. On a third occasion, Lecuona allegedly locked himself in a room with the girl and forbade her from leaving until she performed oral sex (which she did), she said.Utah law states that a minor who is 14 or 15 can consent to having sex with a person who is less than four years older, according to the Utah law firm Conyers & Nix. However, in 2014, Lecuona was accused in 3rd District Juvenile Court of a second-degree felony allegation of sexual abuse of a child.A court document summarizing Lecuonas delinquency record said he admitted to a lesser offense, likely the result of a plea negotiation, that was adjudicated by a judge and sealed away in private state-level juvenile court records. Crayk said that Lecuonas incidents with the girl were consensual and occurred when both of the minors involved were teenagers. Though it upset family at the time, Crayk said, this was not this type of situation that DHS is making it out to be. They have absolutely lied.Crayk noted that such adjudications arent considered convictions that support ICE detention or deportation proceedings. The lawyer says ICE didnt list Lecuonas juvenile court records in its notice given to Lecuona upon his detainment; the notice only mentioned that Lecuona had overstayed his visa. Thus, Crayk called the DHS claim libelous, saying the federal agency falsely implied that Lecuona was convicted of sodomy with a minor, adding, That is 100% speculation going off of something that was never verified or ferreted out in a court of law. He also added that the federal Privacy Act of 1974 forbids federal agencies from disclosing a persons records without written consent, and that the juvenile court records detailing the resolution of the allegations against Lecuona are neither public nor federal records. The federal government should not even be disclosing it at all, Crayk said. They cant release to you whether or not he accepted responsibility, they cant release to you whether or not he was put on probation, they cant release any of that to you.Im blown away, he continued. Ive never seen a United States government administration do what just happened here. Crayk also noted that overstaying a visa is not itself a crime but rather a civil immigration matter that is often resolved by adjusting ones residential status in a court. ICE officers detained Lecuona when he was at his final green card interview with his wife. ICE transferred him to the San Luis Regional Detention Center in Arizona, where he now awaits deportation proceedings. Celis fellow attorney Andy Armstrong noted that Lecuona has no adult criminal record. So doing this and detaining him serves no purpose in his particular case, Armstrong told KSL-TV. Its just a waste of resources and time that could be used to capture immigrants with serious criminal records. Lecuonas next court appearance is scheduled for Friday, and his lawyers have gathered 250 letters from community members supporting his residence in the United States. The current presidential administration has increasingly apprehended immigrants at their required government asylum and naturalization appointments, discouraging longtime U.S. residents from continuing to undergo the official process for legal residence. In a Wednesday statement, Lecuonas wife, Lexie Celis, asked for privacy as we navigate these inhumane and awful circumstances that the Government has created for an innocent family. As this process has played out, I knew that there would be lies and wrongful accusations, but to have it come from our own Government to fit their inhumane narrative and agenda is absolutely disgusting, but ultimately not surprising, she said. The people who know [Jair] know who he is and it is nothing along the lines of what he has been accused. Im grateful for the immense amount of support we have received.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Florida sues medical organizations for conspiracy over gender-affirming care
An ambitious and legally dubious lawsuit filed Tuesday by Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier alleges that three medical organizations intentionally misled parents about the benefits of gender-affirming care for children.Uthmeier named the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Endocrine Society in the suit and accused them of conspiring to defraud parents over the risks, limits, and evidence when promoting so called gender-affirming care for children. Related United Kingdom bans puberty blockers indefinitely: Its a death sentence Behind closed doors, they knew the evidence was weak, Uthmeier said in a video announcing the suit. They knew the outcomes were uncertain and the risks very real. Parents were not told the full story. In fact, some parents were told that if they didnt put their kids through permanent, life-altering, sick procedures like double mastectomies and castration, that their child would commit suicide.Despite his rhetoric, such irreversible, bodily, and genital surgeries are rarely ever conducted on minors. In 2023, @GovRonDeSantis signed legislation to ban so-called "gender-affirming care" for kids. Now its time for accountability!Today, my office sued @wpath, @AmerAcadPeds, and @TheEndoSociety for mutilating kids and misleading families. pic.twitter.com/RrbIfYEFEq Attorney General James Uthmeier (@AGJamesUthmeier) December 9, 2025The 75-page complaint filed in St. Lucie County, Florida alleges that the defendants claims about gender-affirming care for youth are false and misleading, and invokes the Florida RICO Act to assert the medical groups have engaged in racketeering (an ongoing criminal enterprise to make money, often involving organized crime, threats, and violence). The suit asks the court to declare the organizations promotion of gender-affirming care an unfair trade practice, levy large fines on the defendants, and bar them from advertising the safety, reversibility, or efficacy or pediatric sex interventions. The lawsuit labels the organizations actions reprehensible and immoral and an effort to sell lucrative surgeries and drugs that irreversibly mutilate and chemically alter childrens bodies without providing any credible medical benefit. The complaint relies on the debunked Cass Review commissioned by the U.K. government in 2024 for its assertion that gender-affirming care is harmful to children. The report was widely rebuked by medical organizations, but nonetheless provided the basis for an indefinite ban on puberty blockers for minors in the U.K.In July, the Department of Justice issued multiple subpoenas to gender-affirming care providers across the country with similar claims that clinics providing support for trans youth are rife with healthcare fraud, false statements, and more.As well as the Cass Review, the politically motivated suit references other debunked science to make the attorney generals case, including claims drawn from the discredited Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria hypothesis, a belief that trans-identifying youth were a rarity a decade ago and diagnoses of gender dysphoria have skyrocketed in recent years. Trans identification is a form of mass hysteria and a social contagion brought on by social media, smartphones, a lack of in-person interaction, and other societal ills, according to the suit.A long list of respected medical organizations in addition to the named defendants have asserted the efficacy of gender-affirming care for youth. The American Medical Association, the World Health Organization, the World Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, and the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry agree that gender-affirming care is evidence-based and medically necessary for trans minors well-being. Pete Buttigieg (@petebuttigieg.bsky.social) 2025-12-11T22:51:06.289ZDonald Trump has been pressuring red states to redraw their Congressional maps this year to give Republicans better chances of maintaining control of the House in 2026. Currently, there are two Democratic members of Congress from Indiana and seven Republicans. 38% of voters voted for a Democratic House candidate in 2024, which would mean that if Indianas congressional delegation reflected the states population, then three or four of the states House members would be Democrats. Trump wanted the state to pass a new map that would have likely eliminated those two Democratic districts. He went so far as to threaten to pull federal funding from the state if Republican lawmakers didnt adopt his preferred congressional map.But the Republican-controlled Indiana Senate voted on Thursday to reject Trumps new map, 31-19, with 21 Republicans and all 10 Democrats voting against the measure. Indiana became the first state to reject Trumps attempts at mid-decade redistricting. Speaking on Chris Hayes MSNBC show All In, Buttigieg who grew up in Indiana and was the mayor of South Bend for two terms expanded on his points.People are wondering if they have any power at all, he told Hayes. Aaron Rupar (@atrupar.com) 2025-12-12T01:22:57.101Z There have been signs that Indiana Republicans would reject the gerrymandering bid. Last month, Indiana state Sen. Mike Bohacek (R) said that he would vote against it because the president used the word ret**d to refer to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D).Those of you that dont know me or my family might not know that my daughter has Down Syndrome, Bohacek posted to social media. This is not the first time our president has used these insulting and derogatory references and his choice of words will have consequences.I will be voting NO on redistricting, perhaps he can use the next 10 months to convince voters that his policies and behavior deserve a congressional majority. Policito reporter Adam Wren pointed to a post from the far-right Heritage Foundation that threatened Indiana leaders if they rejected the gerrymandering bid. Their post said: Roads will not be paved. Guard bases will close. Major projects will stop. These are the stakes and every NO vote will be to blame. Its hard to overstate how much this post was unhelpful to the presidents cause among Indiana Republicans in the final hours when some were still persuadable, Wren wrote. Its hard to overstate how much this post was unhelpful to the presidents cause among Indiana Republicans in the final hours when some were still persuadable. https://t.co/XEtX9n8QtA Adam Wren (@adamwren) December 12, 2025Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Restoring the rainbow: How cis white gay folks must show up for trans & queer people of color
Kaila Adia Story was in a gay bar the first time she heard a white person call a Black person the N-word.She had just moved to Louisville, Kentucky, and was visiting the hole-in-the-wall establishment with some friends. When the owner walked in with two fearsome-looking dogs, Story hopped onto a pool table to avoid them. Related Jo MaMa has changed Chicago forever. They know you can change your world for the better, too. She asked him to leash the dogs, and he hostilely replied, I dont like big girls on my pool tables.A disagreement ensued as her friends came to her defense, and in the midst of it, the owner called one of them the N-word.If the owner was this comfortable throwing that word around, Story knew others must have experienced similar aggressions from him, too. She began protesting at the bar, determined to bring down the owner.Thats when the hate mail began. But to her surprise, it came from other queer people white queer people, to be exact. They were angry at her for going after a queer space. Who was she to take away a bar where they felt safe? Never Miss a Beat Subscribe to our newsletter to stay ahead of the latest LGBTQ+ political news and insights. Subscribe to our Newsletter today I dont know if they assumed because I was Black, I was also not a lesbian, she told LGBTQ Nation. I think the owner might have interpreted the same way. This incident embodies the crux of Storys 2025 book, The Rainbow Aint Never Been Enough, which dismantles the myth that we are one big, cohesive LGBTQ+ community united under the rainbow.Queer spaces are not the same amount of safe for everyone, she said, and can often be as racist and transphobic as any other. In fact, it has taken protests in multiple cities to dismantle racist carding policies at several prominent gay bars. But Story believes cis white LGBTQ+ people often see their queerness as absolving them of responsibility to show up authentically for trans people and queer people of color.LGBTQ Nation spoke with Story about why many cis queer white people need to do better, especially given the state of emergency the community is in under the Trump administration. The interview has been edited for length and clarity. LGBTQ Nation: The book debunks the myth of LGBTQ+ solidarity. Why does the myth exist at all, considering, as you argue, the solidarity never has?Kaila Adia Story: The myth was created over time, primarily through mainstream media. I argue in the book that the campaign for marriage equality started highlighting this idea for the general public.Every time I saw a campaign about marriage equality, and anytime there were LGBTQ+ people of color, they were always partnered with someone white. These were models, not real couples, trying to stage the scene to argue that marriage equality should be made possible and that this is a human right. While I vibed with those things, I found it disconcerting that I never saw Black queer couples, Black trans couples, as these poster children for marriage equality. When I was younger, I went to queer bookstores and learned all this remarkable history. Then, when queer media and content started coming out, I started renting all of these movies from Blockbuster. Anytime there was a Black lesbian, they always seemed to be partnered with a white lesbian. In the gay and queer spaces that Ive been in, there are overt acts of racism, there are covert acts of racism, so Im not sure how everyones ending up in bed together. As a person who has no issue with interracial couplings, I just wondered why this relationship model was being portrayed as more exclusive than other queer relationships that I had witnessed, that I had been in myself. There was a lot of multicultural erasure when LGBTQ+ communities were portrayed in mainstream media. This is problematic because it doesnt address issues of transphobia by cis gays that have been happening since Stonewall. It doesnt address racism; it doesnt address queer fetishes that are racialized. All those things, to me, had been part of my experience and part of Black LGBTQ+ history.Sylvia [Rivera] at the Christopher Street parade, which is our first gay pride, got booed off the stage, had things thrown at her, and was told to shut up by cis white gay men. So now we hold up Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia as mavericks for change and as representatives and symbols of queer liberation, and yet, in their own lives, transgressing only in queer spaces, they had to deal with the same things.Sylvia Rivera marching for trans rights in 1970 | Wikimedia Commons Is it only white queer people who have bought into this solidarity idea, or do you think it has permeated other, more intersectionally marginalized groups?I dont think that it is only white cis queer people who hold racial animus. Black LGBTQ people have internalized white supremacist and racist messaging in these queer spaces.I have seen Black queer people in a predominantly LGBT bar celebrate and be excited for a drag queen in blackface. I didnt understand that. Theres this idea that racist microaggressions are okay in queer spaces because its a taboo subject, and were queer and we get to toy with those things. I understand drag as a queer transgressive art form, but it should be a resounding fact that blackface is racist and has no part in queer spaces. Right now, were in a space where SCOTUS just said were not touching marriage equality, so everybodys so excited. Im excited. Im a married gay. And then Im upset because SCOTUS is also saying trans folks and nonbinary folks passports will not be able to be renewed with their proper pronouns and their proper gender markers because somebody else outside of them says they cant.We need solidarity within our community to fight this really aggressive fight. Trans folk and nonbinary folk are not a political liability that we can just throw to the wind. This idea that were united under the rainbow makes us think people will fight. Still, I see my trans friends and my nonbinary comrades, theyre struggling, theyre suffering, and Im not seeing cis gay folk support them and advocate for trans causes in the same way that they were all undone about drag shows and the way theyre all undone about marriage equality. So if having this colossal common enemy in the Trump administration is still not spurring cis white gay people to fight, what can?The first step is education: confronting these issues head-on and engaging in public discourse about them. Im already seeing that on social media, especially when this current administration has some cis gay people in it.You have cis gays currently doing the bidding of the administration against trans people, against other folk in our community, against Black folk, Latinx folk. And this is the thing, too. All issues are LGBTQIA issues, and I want the general public to stop thinking that theyre not. LGBTQIA people exist in every single community. They exist in poor communities, Black communities, Latinx communities, immigrant communities, and undocumented communities. So when were talking about war, genocide, reproductive justice, all of those issues are LGBTQ issues, and I think that mainstream media wants to silo these issues so that it seems like all LGBTQ people care about is marriage equality, drag shows, parties, and their nightclubs.I wanted a book that contextualized our community for the American public, that we are not just concerned with A, B, and C; were actually worried about all of it, because we are everywhere. We need to show up and support each other, and we cant do that with bigotry and animus. The No Kings protest Saturday afternoon, October 18, 2025, at the Caddo Parish Courthouse in downtown Shreveport. | Henrietta Wildsmith/The Times / USA TODAY NETWORK You implore people to become accomplices over allies. Whats the first step to making that shift? We need folks who are in spaces of privilege whether that means gender identity, race, class to go to those families that raised them and say how much they love those other people that the family told them not to. Because that family, that community, that church, that space in which they were raised, and that socialized them to be bigoted, will listen to them talk about social justice more so than someone like me.This is hard psychological and emotional work because it is your loved one or someone youve been in community with. Its very uncomfortable to challenge that. Accomplices have always existed, and its been very difficult for the work that they do. But they certainly have done it. Its just the work that nobody wants to do. Before we had marriage equality in 2015, Id go to the gay club and see straight women in there with bride sashes. They didnt see how offensive it was to come to a queer space with people who couldnt legally get married and show off their bridal sash and crown and say how their boyfriends homophobic, but theyre not. This is the allys performance. You literally are living and breathing with people who are outright transphobic, outright homophobic, but you dont want to get sexually assaulted in your space, so you come to our space. Challenge the sexism and misogyny in your space. Oh, you dont want to do that? You want to come to a space designed for us because we couldnt go into public spaces, and then you take over. You jump on stage, you dont know how to tip drag performers, you think its your own personal concert.I dont know how many times Ive been to the club here in Louisville, where the host has to tell straight women to get off the stage.Accomplices dont do things like that. Accomplices go to the gay club, act as visitors. They dont take over, they dont colonize. They enjoy themselves, and they also advocate in the streets for LGBTQ communities. Its the same as what folks do with Black culture anything but the burden. Being an accomplice is burdensome, its heavy, but thats the work that needs to be done.Milwaukee, Wisconsin / USA June 7th, 2020: LGBT and non-LGBT Wisconsinites came out to the Black Lives Matter and LGBT March to end the death of LGBT and Black lives due to police brutality | Shutterstock When it comes to calling out family members, in the moment, its hard to feel like expending the energy to call out a crazy uncle or bigoted grandpa is worth it or impactful. But you believe it can cause a significant domino effect?Your confrontation with the uncle or grandpa makes them think: Oh wow, this is someone I care about or someone I love, and theyre in distress because I hold these views.A lot of people are holding views, and they dont even know why. Its just somebody that they respected and loved told them they should think that way, so they started thinking that way, and theyve never once been challenged to think any differently. Conversations to me are very, very powerful. I want cis gay people to raise the alarm for trans people the same way that we were growing it around marriage equality, the same way we were raising it about bans on drag performances, bans on Pride festivals. I dont see that happening, and I dont see that happening because cis gay folks have also internalized transphobic messaging from larger society.People dont see transphobia as an addendum to homophobia, as an addendum to racism, as an addendum to classism, as an addendum to body shaming. All those things are connected.I mean, scratch a racist, and youll find homophobes, right? Those things dont exist in isolation. You started writing the book during the pandemic. If you were writing it now in the midst of the second Trump administration, is there anything you would approach differently?I would talk more about how dangerous these things are that we see as ideological, as opinions, seeing now in this climate those views being turned into policy, and how white cis gay people are a part of it.I would have concentrated more on folks who are interested in weaponizing their queer identity and white identity to make others in our community suffer. I would talk more about the anticipated suppression of educational tools to get through this moment together. Your book is built around the idea that the rainbow does not symbolize solidarity as many people think it does. How do you connect with that symbol, and does it hold any meaning for you?The rainbow symbol held a significant place in my heart when I was young because I knew right away that the rainbow symbolized gay-friendly places.Over time, those ended up not being safe spaces for me and thats from Detroit to Chicago to Philly to Louisville. There was at least a microaggression or overt act of racism or something I had to deal with or navigate through, and all I wanted to do was be in a queer space and have a cocktail and relax, but then I had to teach lessons.Theres a concerted effort to change the dynamics that have been happening in our spaces for a very long time, and Im glad about that.At one point, I saw the rainbow as showing that we were all together united against gender and sexual tyranny. But as I kept living and growing, I started feeling like the rainbow was literally a cover-up for all the issues were having. It was a shroud and a veil that made it seem as if we were all together.Hopefully, we can put the rainbow back together again, and itll actually be in the interests of all of us and not just some of us.NEW YORK, UNITED STATES Mar 06, 2021: Trump supporters march in New York City, call for his reelection in 2024, unveil worlds largest Trump 2024 flag Do you believe anything has improved in the way the community shows up for one another since Sylvia Rivera was booed off stage all those years ago? I do, in some ways. We certainly have queer creatives giving us more representation of trans and non-binary identities and lives in television and film. We also have a number of Black trans women at the helm of educating and informing mass audiences about the interiorities of the joys and injustices that trans people face. Black trans women like TS Madison, Raquel Willis, Angelica Ross, the late activist and blogger Monica Roberts, and Imara Jones of theTranslashpodcast. At the same time, we currently have active gay, lesbian, and bisexual organizations that openly disparage trans people, verbally co-signing harmful anti-trans legislation on their platforms, like theLesbian, Gay, Bisexual Alliance (LGB Alliance)in the United Kingdom andGays Against Groomersin the United States. We also have trans and nonbinary people in queer communities who still have to deal with misgendering, deadnaming, and other cis microaggressions. Black trans people deal with this, and on top of it, also have to endure racism. Black trans women have to deal with misogynoir on top of this.We can only truly show up for one another in our community if trans bias, racial animus, and nonbinary discrimination end. We still have a long way to go. We all need to recognize that our trans and nonbinary siblings survival, liberation, and freedom is a struggle that we must all fight for. The stakes are too high not to.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Pete Buttigieg slams his replacement for wanting to install jungle gyms at airports
Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg called out his replacement, current Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, for doing pull-ups at airports while rolling back consumer protections for air travellers.Earlier this week, Duffy, along with Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr., announced that the Department of Transportation (DOT) would have grant money available to airports that want to make the experience better in airports, including installing gym equipment. Duffy and Kennedy then had a pull-up contest at their press conference. And you think, Why didnt I think of putting jungle gyms in the airport?' Kimmel asked as Buttigieg stifled a laugh. You know, I love exercise, I love air travel Putting them together is not really something I would think to do, Buttigieg responded. Also, of all the problems you could be trying to solve with the aviation system right now, why are you doing that while dismantling the protections we put in? Buttigieg continued, noting that Duffy has been loosening consumer protections in the air industry. Some of the examples Buttigieg cited of airline deregulation this year include the DOTwithdrawing a Biden-era rulerequiring airlines to compensate passengers for significant flight delays and cancellations.Buttigieg also talked about how, in September, the DOT said it would delay enforcement of President Joe Bidens Wheelchair Rule, which required airlines to be more accountable for wheelchairs they lose or damage.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

How to stay connected this holiday season with your people, wherever they are
The holidays have a funny way of stretching us across time zones, group chats, and emotional bandwidth all at once. Some years, youre surrounded by family, laughter, and cookies you didnt have to bake yourself. Others, youre FaceTiming your mom from an airport floor, sitting with your chosen family at a potluck, or squeezing in a quick love you, mean it video call between work shifts. For many queer people, its a blend of both, resulting in a hybrid holiday thats equal parts sweet, chaotic, and beautifully improvised. In my world, December looks like a patchwork of people I love scattered across the map. My family sends blurry photos of the Christmas tree they refuse to decorate until I approve the color scheme. My best friend hosts a chosen family dinner with more pies than guests. My partners family group text lights up every two minutes like a festive emergency alert system. And somewhere in the middle, Im trying to keep up by sharing photos, swapping recipes, checking flight delays, sending voice notes, and pretending I didnt panic-spend $300 on overnight shipping for a gift that should have been ordered in November. Its a lot.But its also the season when connection matters the most. The season when we try to pour a little extra into everything, whether its our plans, our gifts, or our time with each other. And lets be honest, connection isnt just emotional this time of year. Its digital. Its literal. Its the lifeline that keeps long-distance relationships warm, chosen families knitted together, and far-flung loved ones folded into the joy. This year, Ive found myself thinking about how much of my holiday season happens through my phone. Not instead of real life, but intertwined with it. The photo of my niece in her matching pajamas. The group video from my yoga students who surprised me with a holiday card. The way my queer friends check in with each other with a simple you good? message that means far more than words suggest. These tiny connections add up. They build a sense of presence even when distance tries to interfere.Thats why, during the busiest, messiest, most sentimental time of year, reliability becomes its own kind of love language. You dont want your calls cutting out mid-story or your signal dropping right before the surprise proposal your cousin has planned for months. You want the tech partthe invisible partto just work. You want it to feel as smooth as a perfectly wrapped gift and just as satisfying.Verizons holiday lineup leans into that idea.Whether its their network reliability or the new Apple Bundle, complete with the iPhone 17, iPad, and Apple Watch Series 11, the focus is on keeping people connected without adding to the chaos. Its the kind of holiday-upgrade energy that feels like over-stuffing a stocking with peace of mind instead of trinkets. Its technology designed to smooth out the edges, whether for a couple sending daily good-morning videos, a queer elder checking in on younger community members, siblings trading memes from opposite coasts, or friends coordinating their annual ugly-sweater party.Connection takes many forms, but it always comes back to the same core truth:We all want to feel close to each other. And when everything else gets busy, loud, or overwhelming, the steadiness of a reliable network becomes a gift in its own right. Not flashy or dramatic, its the significant glue that holds these holiday moments together.Because the holidays arent just about where you are. Theyre about who you can reach, and how easy it is to reach them.

Shocking new Jeffrey Epstein photos show Donald Trump with victims & Trump-branded condoms
Democrats on the House Oversight Committee today released photographs from the Jeffrey Epstein estate confirming the close ties President Donald Trump had to the late child sex trafficker, and documenting his proximity to the young women who were victimized.Committee Democrats released 19 photos revealing some of the most notable figures in Epsteins orbit, including Trump, former President Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, and former Prince Andrew. Out Rep Robert Garcia (D-CA), the ranking Democrat on the Oversight Committee whos been leading the charge for the full release of the Epstein files from Trumps Justice Department, said in a statement that the latest production from the estate contained over 95,000 photos, including images of the wealthy and powerful men who spent time with Jeffrey Epstein and thousands of photographs of women and Epstein properties, CNN reports.Right now, our demand is that the president release the files, he said on the steps of the Capitol this morning.
