Fox host Jesse Watters is facing blowback for his sneering description of a queer woman who was shot to death yesterday by an ICE agent.Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old queer Minneapolis woman and a U.S. citizen, was observing a protest from her car when ICE agents told her to get out of the f**king car. They were wearing masks and Good tried to drive away. Thats when an ICE agent shot her through the side of her car. She died at the hospital. In the clip, he rages at her for putting her pronouns in her social media bio and mentions that she has a lesbian partner instead of saying she has a wife. The Daily Mail says she leaves behind a lesbian partner and a child from a previous marriage.She was a disruptor, though she considered herself a legal observer. But theres no evidence she had a law degree.According to the National Lawyers Guild, a legal observer is someone who documents government conduct against First Amendment-protected activity and provides support to people who are arrested at protests or other actions. They dont have to be lawyers.Despite Watters implication that Good was not really a poet, she wrote poetry and even won the prestigious Academy of American Poets Prize in 2020 for her poem entitled On Learning to Dissect Fetal Pigs.While Good was originally from Colorado, she moved to Minnesota with her wife a year ago. The previous marriage Watters is referring to was Goods marriage to comedian Timmy Ray Macklin Jr., who died in 2023. She was actually a mother of three, with two teenagers from her first marriage, prior to her marriage to Macklin.On Bluesky, people criticized Watters for what they perceived as an attempt to paint Good in a negative light so that people dont question why an ICE agent shot her in the face.
