What was your favorite movie of 2025, Out readers?I still think my favorite film of the year was Sinners, but when it comes to queer movies, there were several that I really loved! Now, we're counting down our eleven favorite LGBTQ+ movies of the year!Coming in at number eleven is Wicked: For Good, starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. While it's not the great film the first Wicked was, Erivo and Grande's performances are enough to lift it and make it a terrific theater-going experience.At number eight is Bill Condon's musical Kiss of the Spider Woman, starring Out cover stars Jennifer Lopez and Tonatiuh, along with Diego Luna. The high-budget musical is one of the most gorgeous films of the year, and is a true treat for fans of musicals and cinema.Our fifth-best movie of the year is Ira Sachs's understated historical drama Peter Hujar's Day. The film stars Ben Wishaw as the famous photographer and takes place over a day as he has an intimate conversation with his friend, writer Linda Rosenkrantz (Rebecca Hall)Number three is Zackary Drucker's vital documentary Enigma, about former models and cabaret performers, April Ashly and Amanda Lear. It follows them from their time together at a trans cabaret to Ashly's fight for trans rights and Lear's stealth stardom. It's a much-needed piece of trans history.Our top two movies of the year are between Nia DaCosta's Hedda and James Sweeney's Twinless.
