His comment highlights the fact that pedophile is widely used as a catch-all term for any adult sexually attracted to children below the age of 18, the national age of consent. The other terms Soresi mentioned arent well-known enough to be widely understood or used.The lowest age of consent nationwide, in 31 states, is16.
