Karoline Leavitt gives worst spin possible on allegations White House is coercing lawmaker
As the House gets closer to a vote on the release of the sealed government files on convicted and deceased child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, multiple sources told NBC News that the White House has been pressuring Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) to remove her name from a House petition seeking to force a vote on the issue. The outlet said the meeting took place with top White House and Justice Department officials in the hours before House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) will finally swear in Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ). Grijalva has said she will add her name to the petition and become the final House member needed to force a vote. Related Republican congresswoman rages at Democrats for bringing up their eight-week vacation When a reporter asked Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt why White House officials are doing this, given the administrations claim to care about transparency, Leavitt gave a nonsensical response, saying there is nothing more transparent than an administration that speaks with lawmakers. She called it a defining factor of transparency that the administration is willing to sit down with members of Congress and address their concerns. She said she would not provide information about what actually took place in the conversations.Reporter: Why are white house officials then meeting with Rep. Boebert in an effort to try to get her to not sign this petition calling for the release of the files?Leavitt: Doesn't it show transparency that members of the trump administration are willing to brief members of pic.twitter.com/dOSuuM4rdd Acyn (@Acyn) November 12, 2025Many mocked her blatant hypocrisy. "transparency""transparency""transparency""the defining factor of transparency""I'm not going to give you a single detail about the conversation that took place." Jared Ryan Sears (@JaredRyanSears) November 12, 2025It does not in that they were attempting to coerce those members into withholding evidence from the public @karolineleavitt does that clear things up for ya? Lib Dunk (@libdunkmedia) November 12, 2025I wouldn't call that transparency. I think the word for it is bullying. The Great Gig in the Sky (@thegreatgig8) November 12, 2025That's not briefing that's mafia style intimidation. And Leavitt trying hard not to get hysterical isn't going to change that fact. Diana Rivera (@dianarivera481) November 12, 2025Leavitts idea of transparency is secret meetings to stop a petition for transparency. You cant brief your way out of hypocrisy. Dr.Barlin (@DrBarlin) November 12, 2025Lmfao that sure is a take on that Bill DeMayo (@BDeMayo) November 12, 2025No. It shows that youre trying to strong arm her alone! Deanna (@deanna504) November 12, 2025Her response is just like when my mom used to ask me about if I did my hw when I didnt. Rambling, flustered, defensive, repetitive and angry. Shes lying and she knows it. Kat (@KatAndromeda17) November 12, 2025Genuinely the worst spin possible here Jordan (@jordan_kent1) November 12, 2025
