GOP sources say blue wave was exactly the results youd expect based on Donald Trumps behavior
Several anonymous sources close to the White House have opened up about the problems with Donald Trump that led to Tuesday nights massive losses for the GOP. People dont think hes lived up to his promises, one source told Politico. You won on lowering costs, putting more money back into peoples pockets. And people dont feel that right now. But James Blair, White House deputy chief of staff and political director for Trumps 2024 presidential campaign, thinks the problems the GOP faces are overcomeable with a lot of resources in the right districts for the right candidates. Youll see the president talk a lot about cost of living as we turn into the new year, Blair told Politico. The president is very keyed into whats going on, and he recognizes, like anybody, that it takes time to do an economic turnaround, but all the fundamentals are there, and I think well see him be very, very focused on prices and cost of life. That turnaround would have to be massive to save the presidents approval ratings. Earlier this week, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow detailed just how unpopular Trump is with the American people, exclaiming that his disapproval rating is higher than it was in the immediate aftermath of January 6th.Citing an ABC/Washington Post Poll, Maddow added that Americans disapprove of him on everything, including massive disapproval for his handling of the economy, where hes at minus 25 points. The numbers no doubt explain what happened in Tuesday nights elections, where Democrats swept in races across the country. The November 4 off-year elections saw Democrats annihilate their Republican and independent opponents in everything from gubernatorial and mayoral races to judicial retention votes to state legislative elections to commission races, as well as in a historic, unprecedented ballot measure.Analysts have said the Democrats could not have had a better night, as candidates across the country not only won their elections but, in many cases, made history. And in many races, Democrats won by such large margins that news organizations declared winners within minutes of polls closing.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.
