Family Equalitys Night OUT in L.A.: The Evening of Joy We Need Right Now
This story is brought to you by our partners at Family Equality.Lets face it. Things are tough. From the statehouse to the Supreme Court, LGBTQ+ families need bold action and protections now. But if theres one thing our community has learned from countless marches in the streets with diaper bags and rainbow flags, its that we need joy with our justice. Thats why Family Equality is gathering an incredible slate of comedians for Night OUT on Saturday, November 8 in Los Angeles.Family Equality, the only national nonprofit dedicated to protecting the freedoms of LGBTQ+ families, is hosting Night OUT, an evening of stand-up comedy and fundraising to fuel their mission.Set in the stylish Nya Studios West, the lineup features sets by LGBTQ+ comedians:Mont X ChangeSolomon GeorgioBryan SafiBrendan ScannellTien TranMo WelchAnd a surprise guest!Murray/Reese Family Award honorees Alec Mapa and Jamison Hebert with their son Zion.In addition, Family Equality will honor two trailblazing and hilarious creative Hollywood duos who embody the power of authenticity and the importance of representation. There have been over 600 anti-LGBTQ+ legislation introduced in this year alone. In this climate, an evening dedicated to laughter and connection is more than just an event. Its an act of collective resistance. We learn from the legacy of the heroes of Stonewall, including the recently departed Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, that joy must be at the core of all that we do. It is a key for survival and a path to liberation. Especially now, as our BIPOC and trans families in particular are targeted by dangerous rhetoric and harmful legislation, we must show the world that our community will persist no matter what the future holds. For those carrying the heaviness of the headlines, this is your cue to take a breath. Night OUT is an invitation to exhale, to laugh, and to help fund Family Equalitys critical work for LGBTQ+ families and the future.Joy isnt a distraction from justice. Its part of it.CTA: Get your tickets! [link to familyequality.org/nightout]
