Russell Tovey breaks the internetsells out T-shirt in 48h (exclusive)
Russell Tovey: You have to stan.See on InstagramHanky codes? It's 2025, and we're spelling things out.Looking and Plainclothes actor Russell Tovey attended Lady Gaga's The Mayhem Ball tour wearing a T-shirt that had the gays putting their paws all the way up. "J'adore a whore," the T-shirt read. ("J'adore is French for "I really like," but often also used to mean "I love.")In a few hours of the post hitting social media, Out verified that the white version of the "J'adore a whore" T-shirt which Tovey wore in the photo had already sold out on the Arrogant Hypocrite's official website. A few sizes in other colors were available, but those eventually sold out, too."We re-posted Russell's picture on Saturday morning, and it sold out officially (every color and size) last night," Arrogant Hypocrite creative director Stavros Agapiou tells Out when reached for comment. Agapiou subsequently confirmed that every single color in every single size "sold out in under 48 hours" and the brand was already working on re-stocking and accepting pre-orders."The J'adore a whore drop was doing pretty well with sales even before the viral Tovey picture. But, as you can guess, sales went up tenfold. We really had no idea it would blow up like that when we posted."Arrogant Hypocrite was founded in 2020 by DJ and music producer Fat Tony.Agapiou says that Russell "didn't coordinate with us there was no paid partnership or anything like that. He's a dear friend of ours, and has been a huge supporter of Arrogant Hypocrite since we relaunched the brand in 2023.""Like most of our designs, we try to strike a balance between style and humor," the creative director notes. "We're known for celebrating the word 'C*NT' and its reclamation in queer culture, and our latest 'J'ADORE A WHORE' drop is no different."Beyond the more obvious "Dior J'adore" nod, Fat Tony recently dropped new mixes of his 1995 club banger "Men Adore," featuring Fierce Child. The new version, titled "Men Adore (12 Inches Just the Right Size)," celebrated the 30-year anniversary of the queer anthem.Tovey remains a booked and busy actor and Talk Art podcast cohost alongside Robert Diament. Tovey is also releasing a new book, Art School (In a Book): A Future Artist's Guide to Contemporary Art, next month which is now available for preorders. As expected, the gays have completely lost their minds on social media.
