Fans may have even more reasons to look forward to Wicked: For Good when it comes out this November!Director Jon M. Chu conducted a wide-ranging interview with Deadline, revealing that he has one more trick up his sleeve as a treat for moviegoers.Wicked: For Good takes place concurrently with the events in The Wizard of Oz, where Dorothy Gale visits the magical land and walks the Yellow Brick Road with Toto, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion.In the interview, Chu teases that he approached a "celebrated actor" to record lines for the Cowardly Lion."I was like, 'It's not a ton of lines, but maybe you have a little time. I know you're busy. I'll come to you.'" Chu says. "He was like, 'Why the f*ck not, let's go!' And then went ahead and recorded the lines.""Man, wait until the red carpet when the actor who gave us the Cowardly Lion's voice steps foot on it," he adds. "It'll be wild."The latest trailers have teased some of the main characters' transformations that they undergo in the second film.Fans of the musical are aware that several characters from the first film ultimately become characters from the original Wizard of Oz novel, including the Scarecrow and the Tin Man. The Cowardly Lion also appears in the first film as a lion cub in a cage being used as an example in a class at Shiz University. Elphaba frees the cub with the help of Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey), allowing it to grow up to be the beloved character audiences know.Wicked: For Good comes out in theaters November 21.
