Victoria's Secret Fashion Show's queerest year yet? Here's who's walking and performing
The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show has worked to rehab its image over the past few years after a major scandal in 2019, along with growing criticism over a lack of diverse bodies, caused the lingerie brand to cancel the annual event. In 2024, the show made its official return, making history by featuring its first two transgender models, Valentina Sampaio and Alex Consani. This year, the brand is expanding its roster, inviting queer models and performers to participate in the revamped fashion show, scheduled for October 15.Consani will be returning alongside one of her closest friends, Quenlin Blackwell, who announced her upcoming debut on the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show runway on X. "Yall I am going to be a Victorias Secret angel," the openly bisexual content creator wrote in a post uploaded on Friday. "I'm still in shock omg." The company's Pink brand shared the news in a joint Instagram post with the actor. "You want icons, well give you icons," the caption reads. "Were soooo excited to have Barbie Ferreira walk for PINK in the Victorias Secret Fashion Show this year." While Reese may not identify as queer, she is one of the most recognized figures in the WNBA, a sport with a large LGBTQ+ fanbase. And now, she can add to her accomplishments being the first professional athlete to walk the Victoria's Secret runway. "Stepping into a dream: From Angel to a Victoria Secret ANGEL," the 23-year-old basketball player wrote in an Instagram post. "Ill be walking the Victorias Secret 2025 runway show for the first time, and it feels like destiny. Wings on, heels readyCatch me on the runway."
