Magic in the making: Miss Piggy is officially going to Broadway
It's a surprise that it's taken this long, but Miss Piggy is finally getting her turn on a Broadway stage. It was revealed on Wednesday morning that the snouted diva will make her Broadway debut in Rob Lake Magic With Special Guests The Muppets at the Broadhurst Theatre alongside Kermit the Frog later this month. The show was announced back in August, but it wasn't officially confirmed whether Miss Piggy would be joining the cast until now. (@) All eyes were on Cole Escola after the news of the Muppets coming to Broadway originally broke, due to an appearance on Amy Poehler's Good Hang podcast where they named Miss Piggy at their top pick to play Mary Todd Lincoln in a movie version of the hit play Oh, Mary!.At the time, the show's official X account uploaded a photo of a Notes app page that read: "To our OH, MARY! family We saw the news about Miss Piggy going into another Broadway show. Thank you for the support at this time." The account also uploaded a promo image for Lake's show with the caption, "miss piggy we just want to talk." (@) But it seems as though Miss Piggy has made her decision, pinning her hopes on becoming an even bigger star to Lake and his magic show.Previews for Rob Lake Magic With Special Guests The Muppets will begin at the Broadhurst Theatre starting October 28, with opening night scheduled for November 6. The show is set to run through January 18, 2026. In the official press release announcing the show back in August, Lake expressed his excitement about getting to work with the iconic characters. "Like so many people around the world, I grew up with the Muppets. To work with them and create new illusions for them to appear in my show has been the most rewarding and surprisingly familiar moment. Its like I have known them my entire life," he said.
