RuPaul's Drag Race season 16 winner Nymphia Wind, who impersonated Dr. Jane Goodall in the Snatch Game and went on to meet the legendary anthropologist, is mourning the news of Goodall's passing yesterday at age 91.In her interview for the 2024 Out100, Out's annual list of LGBTQ+ gamechangers, Nymphia cited meeting Goodall as a highlight of the year the environmentalist topped a list of favorite encounters that also included Kamala Harris and the former president of Taiwan. The Drag Race superstar has now shared a heartbreaking and sweet Instagram video to honor Goodall, saying:"Hi everyone, it's me Nymphia Nguyen a.k.a. Jane-Not-Good-At-All. Today is October 1st, and this morning we had the unfortunate news that Dr. Jane Goodall has passed away. I just want to come up here and thank the Jane Goodall Institute and Brilliant Earth for giving me the opportunity to be able to meet her in private a few weeks ago in September.Being around Dr. Jane Goodall has always been such an honor, and being able to just be in her presence Because her presence has such a warm and inviting and calm quality to it. She embodies the forest of Gombe [in Tanzania], and she's just with one with nature, and she cares so much about our planet. So it's a sad day, for sure, to know that she has passed on. When I was at the event with Brilliant Earth, she told a story that every day at 7 p.m. she would drink a shot of whiskey with her sister in honor of her mother. So here we are, with a shot of whiskey, in honor of Dr. Jane Goodall, an incredible human being. This is, for me, a very big loss."Nymphia finished her message noting how important it is to "keep her legacy going" and "fight to save our planet.""The world is just going to be so different without her, Nymphia reflected while wrapping up this Instagram Reel. "But as she would say, 'We must always have hope.'"See on InstagramNymphia's Snatch Game impersonation of Dr. Goodall was, well As the Drag Race winner herself put it, "not-good-at-all." Yet, it was endearing to see how Nymphia processed that low point of her run on Drag Race season 16, and how she actually got to meet Goodall after her crowning as America's Next Drag Superstar. One of those instances, in April 2024, took place fresh off the airing of Drag Race season 16 on TV a conversation about Goodall's work via Instagram Reels.See on InstagramDr. Jane Goodall was one of the most well-known conservationists in the world.
