Netflix's gay teen Marine show 'Boots' drops first trailer
Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming show Boots, which centers on the life of a closeted teen Marine."Its 1990, youre fresh out of high school and not sure what to do with your life, so, obviously, you follow your buddy blindly into the US Marine Corps... What could go wrong?" reads the trailer's caption on YouTube.Based on the memoir The Pink Marine by Greg Cope White, Boots follows a closeted teen named Cameron Cope (Miles Heizer) who, along with his best friend, joins the Marines. The series is set in the 1990s, when being openly gay in the military was illegal.In addition to Heizer, Boots stars Liam Oh as Cameron's best friend Ray, Vera Farmiga as Cameron's narcissistic mother Barbara, and Max Parker as Sgt. Sullivan, as well as Cedrick Cooper, Ana Ayora, Angus O'Brien, Dominic Goodman, Kieron Moore, Nicholas Logan, Rico Pairs, and more. It comes from showrunners Andy Parker and Jennifer Cecil. The trailer shows scenes of enlistment and boot camp from the upcoming hour-long dramedy series, set to the tune of George Michael's "Freedom! '90."Boots debuts on Netflix on October 9.
