In a new documentary, RuPaul's Drag Race star Trixie Mattel reveals how the movie helped her to find her identity and name. Mattel had previously revealed that when she was young, her abusive stepfather would call her "Trixie" when she was "acting too feminine or gay or being emotional."Then, when she was older, she joined a cast for performances of the movie, and would dress in drag and go by the name Trixie."It went from like the worst thing I could think of to a name given to me by my first chosen family," she says.
