Hello Out readers.Since Wednesday, the main topic on the minds of Americans has been the shooting and killing of far-right, anti-LGBTQ+ speaker and activist Charlie Kirk.Kirk was shot on the first stop of his college "American Comeback Tour" while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem.Of course, people from all walks of life are posting messages commenting on the shooting, with many condemning political and gun violence. However, one person's message about Kirk has left many in the queer community scratching their heads.Wicked star, Broadway icon, and gay rights champion Kristin Chenoweth surprised her fans when she posted a tribute to Kirk in a comment on his Instagram."I'm. So. Upset. Didnt always agree but appreciated some perspectives. What a heartbreak. His young family. I know where he is now. Heaven. But still," she wrote. In an Instagram story, she added that she thought the shooting was "such a sad, senseless, and disgusting act" and that she was sending "prayers for the Kirk family and prayers for our nation."Chenoweth was a cover star of Out's 2025 Pride issue, in which she stressed that God loves LGBTQ+ people. "The community has been told that they are going to hell, that no one loves them, when the exact opposite is true. God loves them. In fact, he designed them," she asserts. "He designed us, so that what youve been told is exactly a lie. Its the opposite. You are loved, you are cherished, you are wanted, and even if your families dont feel that way, which I know that has happened to a lot of my friends, God feels that way."Keep reading for all the best pop culture news of the week.- Mey Rude'The Bold and the Beautiful' to introduce its first gay coupleYou'll fall to the floor for Sniffies' fall cruising gear'The History of Sound' review: Paul Mescal, Josh O'Connor will make your heart sing'feel it all' singer David Hernandez: "Healing is an act of courage."After Little Mix, Jade can finally make music 'just for me'Kristin Chenoweth 'appreciated some perspectives' from Charlie KirkJonathan Bennett & Jaymes Vaughan dish on their adorable marriage: 'I got his back always'Robert Irwin is serving sexy cowboy trade in these steamy western-themed picsJoJo Siwa says LGBTQ+ people 'turned' on her after dating Chris HughesGayest Song of the WeekKing Princess's new track "Jaime" (which sounds more than a little like Oasis's hit "Wonderwall") is our gayest song of the week!Get Out / The Advocate in your physical mailbox too!Get print issues of Out Magazine / The Advocate in the mail for just $9.95 a year!
