Jeffree Star defends Charlie Kirk, attacks 'they/thems' in TikTok rant
Jeffree Star is known for his abrasive personality online. And that is usually on display when he is feuding with other creators. But the controversial YouTuber-turned-TikToker may have pushed away even more fans with his most recent comments about the LGBTQ+ community. In a recent TikTok Live, the beauty guru took time to speak about the killing of right-wing political commentator Charlie Kirk, who was shot while speaking at a university in Utah. Clips of the Live made their way around X earlier this week. And in the video, Star made disparaging remarks about nonbinary people and defended Kirk's historically hateful rhetoric against the transgender community. (@) The video starts out with Star saying that Kirk "encouraged everyone to speak about their beliefs, whether he believed them or not." When a viewer asked if he identified as a Republican, he responded, "No, I'm a person. Because I'm standing up for someone who passed away, I'm now being called names in the chat." This seemed to incense Star, who addressed a follower who said they were unfollowing. "Thank god, if you believe in they/thems, you're a part of the problem," he said during the livestream. "If you're stupid enough to go against science, please unfollow me. Be whoever you want to be, but there's science and there's facts. You can pretend in your head you're a cat... you're still only A or B."He continued, "Yes, I am a grown-ass man that wears makeup, I will always be a male, my name is Jeffree... All of these grown men going into women's bathroom wearing wigs, you should all be in prison forever." The makeup influencer continued his rant, defending Kirk and saying that he was "just a man who was going around the country debating people" and said that he can't "play with makeup right now" because he's too distraught about what happened to the commentator. His annoyance continues to grow throughout the livestream. "Charlie Kirk fought for the truth, he debated everybody, and you guys cannot argue that," Star said during the Live. "You are delusional and mentally ill if you go against what I just said. I didn't share my opinion, I shared facts."Star was met with support for his comments about Kirk in the comments section of his most recent video. "You gained a follower for what you said during your live about Charlie, respect," one person commented. Someone else said, "You are iconic. You have always been my favorite and thank you for your stance on Charlie Kirk!!" (@) Historically, the makeup influencer has been conscious of not sharing too many of his political beliefs, but Kirk's death seemed to ignite a new fire within him. This also isn't Star's first time making disparaging comments about nonbinary people. Two years ago, Star was on Tennessee Titans player Taylor Lewan's podcast, Bussin' With The Boys, where he said that people who use they/them pronouns are "stupid" and shared that "conservatives like me because I'm just real."
