'South Park' ups the ante with a love affair between Satan and Donald Trump
In today's fraught political climate, art is one of the most powerful tools to use against oppressors, and no one is wielding it more effectively at the moment than South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Last night, the most recent episode of the hit animated show, "Wok is Dead," continued this season's relentless teasing of Trump, joking about his latest executive orders and his relationship with Satan. In the episode, the president and the Dark Lord are rumored to be a couple, the plotline that delivers the biggest laughs despite having to contend with Butters losing it over Labubus. "The official line is that Satan has been 'traveling with' the president, and Trump insists he and Satan are 'just sort of hangin' out,'" The Hollywood Reporter's recap of the episode explains. "But as the audience at home knows, the two are ensnared in a traditional narcissist-empath relationship."The entertainment publication also highlighted how the most recent episode of season 27 takes aim at Fox News, parodying the network's loyalty to the president. In one scene, a set of slavish broadcast news hosts admire the couple and ask repeatedly, "Is Donald Trump fucking Satan?" "The on-air personalities even take a moment to demonstrate how intercourse might play out between Trump at 6'3" and Satan, who is physically twice Trump's size," THR's Kevin Dolak writes, after taking pleasure in the word play. "The animated Fox News personalities then display a clear idea of this physical act of love, on air, for the conservative-leaning audience."The episode then ups the stakes when the couple finally confirms their relationship and comes clean about a secret they've been keeping: Satan is pregnant with Trump's baby. Among the many questions that arise following the announcement including whether the world is finally coming to an end the biggest one is, how did this happen? The only people who seem to know the answer to that are the previously mentioned Fox News hosts. "Yeah, demonic pregnancies work a little differently. The term is 'butt baby,'" one of the on-air personalities says, matter-of-factly.
