Caleb Hearon says MrBeast feud 'was totally f***ing funny' (exclusive)
MrBeast, the most popular YouTube creator in the world, quickly discovered that Caleb Hearon's fan base is not one to be messed with. The YouTuber found himself as the subject of criticism earlier this week when Rolling Stone released its annual list of the most influential creators. It seems that MrBeast took issue with Hearon ranking one spot higher than him.Sign up for the Out Newsletter to keep up with what's new in LGBTQ+ culture and entertainment delivered three times a week straight (well) to your inbox! The last time that the internet heard from either of them was in an Instagram Story shared by Hearon in which he teased being "in peace talks" with MrBeast. Nothing else has been said publicly since then, until now.In an interview with Out a week after the online debacle, Hearon discussed getting into his first online drama with none other than MrBeast, which he says he found "fucking funny" and didn't think too much of the whole situation."He reached out to me after he deleted the post to apologize, and I was just like, 'Dude, I thought it was funny. I didn't think you were wrong, and it made me laugh, so no worries, we're all good," Hearon tells Out. "I think people were too sensitive... he didn't know who I was and in his defense, if I spent my young adulthood building a 990 million follower platform and then I saw a fat, gay comedian listed above me on an influencer list, I'd probably ask some questions too."But Hearon assures his audience that the two have buried the nonexistent hatchet. "When he called to apologize, I told him that it was no big deal, we're all good and I wish you well."For those who don't know, MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, was ranked number seven on Rolling Stone's creator list. Hearon secured the sixth spot on the list beating out the world's most followed YouTuber. In an unexpected turn of events, MrBeast shared an X post arguing that he should've gotten a higher placement."According to this list, a guy with 1 million followers is more influential than me," MrBeast's since-deleted X post read. "What did I do to piss off the Rolling Stones?" In the same X post, MrBeast attached a screenshot of Hearon's placement on the list. The internet quickly rallied behind Hearon, an adored comedian, prompting the YouTuber to back down from his argument and delete that initial X post complaining about the ranking. (@) "Ngl after this I watched some of his stuff and its actually good. I deleted the tweet. I dont want the smoke from the shooters, spare me, plz," Donaldson said in response to one of Hearon's fans demanding he "put some respect" on the comedian's name. This response is also a reference to a joke (well, he seems to be serious) about the makeup of his fan base. When Hearon appeared on his friend Drew Afualo's podcast, he talked about "having shooters" and joked, "There are hundreds of thousands of mentally ill baristas that are ready to mobilize whenever I say the word."
