Exclusive: Tom Blyth & Russell Tovey heat up tense 'Plainclothes' trailer
Tom Blyth and Russell Tovey have explosive chemistry that is bursting off the screen in the first trailer, exclusively debuted with Out, for the upcoming film Plainclothes.Plainclothes, from writer-director Carmen Emmi, follows Lucas (Tom Blyth), a young police officer in New York state who is recruited for his good looks and youthful appearance for a special task force. There, he's tasked with frequenting local gay cruising spots to lure and arrest gay men who try to have sex with him.However, when he meets and tries to seduce an older man named Andrew (Russell Tovey), everything changes."What begins as another setup becomes something far more electric and intimate," the official description reads. "As their secret connection deepens and police pressure to deliver arrests intensifies, Lucas finds himself torn between duty and desire. With time running out and his past closing in, Plainclothes builds toward a New Years Eve reckoning where everything hes buried threatens to erupt."The trailer focuses on both the intense paranoia and anxiety that permeate the film and on the searingly hot chemistry between its two male leads. Lucas is constantly torn between his desire to feel love and connection and his fear of being discovered.The film originally debuted at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Ensemble Cast and was critically praised.Plainclothes also stars Amy Forsyth, Christian Cooke, Maria Dizzia, and Gabe Fazio.
