Will a 'Wenclair' romance happen? 'Wednesday' creators respond
Sorry, Wenclair fans, it may be time to throw in the towel. Many fans of Netflix's hit series Wednesday like to imagine a blossoming romance between the main character, Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), and her Nevermore Academy roommate, the optimistic and bubbly werewolf Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers). However, a new interview with the show's creators may have put an end to the popular femslash ship.Decider asked series creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar if they thought a romance between the two female best friends would ever happen on screen. Its a show about female friendship, and people can read into it whatever they want, which is great. I mean, thats the beauty of television, is people can take ownership, but theyre very much friends, Gough said. And its really a show exploring that female friendship.Millar agreed, saying the show is centered on "the idea of sisterhood and what that means."Its amazing that theyve been embraced in that way. I think its something thats very special, unique about that, he said. You have a show that is about, at its core, these two teenage girls who need each other and have found that connection. And theyre very, very different.See on InstagramPride's Rachel Shatto recently got the opportunity to ask Wednesday star Jenna Ortega about the ship and if "it's time for shippers to give it up.""You know, it's fair enough to see two people and want them to kiss, I do it every day walking down the street. So people are allowed to do what they want to do," she said."Enid has a bit of her own love triangle this season between two men, so, not to let your readers down, but still draw your images, and you know, have fun," she added.Part one of Wednesday season 2 debuted on Netflix on August 6, and part two will debut on September 3.
