Over the dress, Carey donned a pink denim jacket that reads "Protect the dolls," on the back, which the audience could read when she turned around to loud applause while performing her new single, "Type Dangerous."Fans appreciated the sentiment, and videos of her turning around to show the message have gone viral across social networks. A special heartfelt thank you to the LGBTQ+ community for your ongoing support," the singer wrote on X/Twitter. "I will always be there for you. Love, MC." In another post on Instagram, Carey called the event an "unforgettable night." Earlier this year, the "Protect the dolls" T-shirt campaign went viral, with celebrities wearing the statement shirt around the globe at various events and performances. All proceeds are being donated to Trans Lifeline, a non-profit organization that offers peer support, direct aid, a crisis hotline, and resources meant to uplift transgender people. After being worn by Troye Sivan, Pedro Pascal, and Haider Ackermann, the Conner Ives T-shirt raised $70,000 in pre-sale purchases alone. Meanwhile, Carey is gearing up to release her 16th studio album, Here For It All, which is currently scheduled for September 26.
