She tells the publication that the new album probably won't come for "another five years" because her second project "doesn't exist yet.""It took me five years to write the first one, and its probably going to take at least five to write the next," she explained to Vogue. "Im not that type of writer that can pump it out.Roan says that she feels the songwriting process is much easier when she doesn't force it and mentions the social media chatter about her perceived lack of spending enough time in the studio. "I see some comments sometimes, like, Shes everywhere except that damn studio, she said. Even if I was in the studio 12 hours a day, every single day, that does not mean that you would get an album any faster.How long has Chappell Roan been working on her new album?Music producer Dan Nigro told The New York Times on October 21 that he had been working with Roan on her second studio album since July 2024.So, while still promoting The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, climbing the music charts, and breaking records at mainstream music festivals, Roan was already putting in the work on her upcoming album.Is 'The Giver' going to be on Chappell Roan's second album?The short answer: yes!In the same aforementioned NYT interview, Dan Nigro, did say that the singer's next album features a "fun, up-tempo country song" that had "a fiddle." He also mentioned that this song would show fans "a new version of Chappell."The long answer: an album's track list is always subject to change. In November, Roan performed "The Giver" on Saturday Night Live for the first time and the performance was scrubbed from the internet until March, when she finally released the song. Which other songs will be on Chappell Roan's sophomore album?Nigro told NYT that he's worked on five new tracks for this upcoming album, which Roan herself later confirmed in a cover story for Rolling Stone.It's likely that "The Subway," which she released last Friday after debuting it at Governor's Ball in New York City in June 2024, will also be on the album. The other songs that Nigro and Roan have worked on together were described as "a couple of ballads and a mid-tempo rock song."Fans may have also gotten a sneak peek at what else could be released in the lyric video for "The Giver." It includes VHS main menu with other tracks titled To Be Yours and Read & Make Out.A Billboard report from October 29 suggested that Roan's next album had a song titled "She Gets the Job Done." However, there's still no actual release date not even a time window! set for the new project.
