The interviewers were not able to keep their composure and started laughing, so McKellen quickly tried to correct himself, "Her? Them? Them." The sweet exchange took off on social media and everyone thought the interaction was so wholesome. The landmark event, the culmination of two years of dedicated volunteer effort, saw hundreds march along the historic Long Walk with the iconic Windsor Castle as a backdrop. A highlight of the day was a surprise appearance by Ian McKellen, who addressed the main stage, emphasising the profound importance of Pride. He was introduced by 14-year-old Jacob Franklin, director of the film 'Dragged Through Time', which chronicles episodes of gay history and premiered at the event. McKellan joined the Pride march and was later asked by @Liam At 86 years old, McKellen is still keeping himself busy with new projects. This includes a new movie about 1,000 years of gay history, where he plays the role of Great Uncle Peter, a semi-closeted older relative to the main character, so it makes sense as to why he'd want to stay in touch with all the goings on in pop culture.McKellen agreed to do the movie when the director, Jacob Franklin, was connected with the legendary actor through Eton College's director of drama, Scott Handy."We weren't really expecting a reply but then he texts us back and says in his words, not mine, that he's 'really inspired by this and would love to come and do this.' And I'm like, yes, absolutely," Franklin told PinkNews in an interview. "Were bringing a lot of skills together. Were making our own music, were mostly making our own costumes and designing it all. My best friends working on the music, and Nic, whos on the Pride committee, is our dress-maker."
