She explained that coming out as trans "wasn't at all supported by my partner, and it ended up being a big part of why I had to leave, because he didn't want to be with a trans person."Amanda added that being in an environment "where everyone is calling me Amanda and she/her-ing me" ultimately helped "push me out of the nest a little bit and crack the egg."On Friday, July 11, Amanda shared a new post containing updates about her life as a trans woman and as drag entertainer.Amanda Tori Meating is undergoing gender affirming care. The first few paragraphs of the statement read:"The time has finally come! On Monday I undergo life changing gender affirming surgery. Whenever people have asked me lately how/what I'm feeling, my response has usually been 'I feel all of it!' So many thoughts and feelings flying around inside this big beautiful brain, but here's a few of them for your enjoyment:The first feeling is immense pride in myself for making it to this part. In the most non- 'wah wah woah is me' way possible, the last two years have felt like an absolute sh-[poop emoji]-tstorm of emotions as I navigated my Saturn Return, finally took the leap of starting my medical transition, went on RuPaul's Drag Race, and everything that's happened since."She thanked fans for being so supportive of her drag and gender journey. I'm proud of myself for making all of the phone calls and jumping through all the hoops necessary to get this surgery. I'm proud of myself for seeing what's no longer serving me and having the courage to shed it."The next feeling is a profound sense of gratitude for all of you. See, I keep this ego in check so you don't have to :) LOL. But genuinely everyone reading this, everyone who donated to my recovery fund, everyone who has been there for me in any capacity during this time, everyone who has left a nice comment or sent a nice message, I promise Mommy is just deeply ADHD and gets too overwhelmed to respond to all of it sometimes BUT I see it all and it truly does lift my spirits when I'm feeling low.I could not have done this without all of your support. The fact that I am able to take the next few weeks to recover without having to worry about basic necessities like rent, food, etc. is such a gift, and it's a gift I don't take for granted. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and any time you see a trans person post a crowdfunding link, just know that every dollar and every share truly does help us. So if you're down to Protect The Dolls, this is one of the things that entails!"Amanda Tori Meating explained why she's taking a social media hiatus. The Drag Race star wrote:"I'm also feeling so excited about what's next (for the first time in a long time mama)! I am going to be taking the next couple weeks to have some intentional no social media/limited phone time, and babyyyy, we are breaking back out the JOURNAL.Finally feeling inspired to write down my thoughts again and excited to see what ends up on the page. In that time I'm gonna be having my bestie/roommate post some fun content on here that I haven't gotten around to sharing yet for engagement so do all that like, comment, subscribe nonsense.Another CRAZY exciting piece of ATM news is that we are under brand new management! I am now working with the insane team at Queer Music Agency (@queermusic.agency_us) for all of my bookings and brand partnerships, and we are cooking up some SICKENING things together. [You're] literally gonna lose [your] minds. The thing I can currently talk about is that we're planning a FACE REVEAL Tour for the fall/winter and currently ironing out dates! If you want to be one of the EXCLUSIVE first venues in our lineup, email aliya@queermusic.agency and let's get it poppin'." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Amanda Tori Meating (@amandatorimeating)The statement ended with Amanda describing how her booking process will work moving forward."If you're feeling like a deranged fan who's sick in the head because your local drag venue hasn't had me yet (or in a while, I Iove repeat hookups when it's good [kiss emoji]) then talk to whoever's in charge and give them the email pookie!!Note: I'm still handling most of my NYC drag bookings myself because I love NYC nightlife so much and the community I've found here, so I'm ALWAYS down to come ki and give it for local diva rates, just hmu [smileyface]. Signing off for now, my lil meaties. I love you and I'll see you so soon. Mother Meat."Amanda tagged photographer David Dines (@daviddines) for the first image in the Instagram carousel (above).
