Plastique Tiara surpasses Trixie Mattel, becomes most-followed 'Drag Race' star
Plastique Tiara has now become the most-followed queen on Instagram within the entire RuPaul's Drag Race franchise surpassing All Stars 3 winner Trixie Mattel, who spent several years at the top of the ranking.Sign up for the Out Newsletter to keep up with what's new in LGBTQ+ culture and entertainment delivered three times a week straight (well) to your inbox!As of Monday, June 30, Plastique has officially become the most-followed Drag Race queen on Instagram with an audience of 4.32 million followers.Even though Trixie is on the cusp of crossing 4.3 million followers, Plastique's huge social media momentum is already placing the Vietnamese queen and All Stars 9 competitor in the No. 1 spot with a comfortable lead.In July 2024, Plastique became the second most-followed RuGirl on Instagram briefly tying with Katya as they both reached 2.7 million IG followers. While Trixie was still taking her notorious break for a few months in 2024, the All Stars 3 winner made herstory by crossing the 4-million mark of Instagram followers, becoming the first-ever Drag Race alum to do so.It certainly felt inconceivable that any other queen Plastique, Katya, or whoever else! would catch up to Trixie in the near future, that notion was quickly challenged when Plastique increased her Instagram audience to 3 million fans in February 2025. Up until then, Trixie was the only RuGirl to cross the 3-million mark (and subsequent 4-million mark) of Instagram followers But she wasn't sitting alone in that VIP any longer.And just like that, it happened! In April 2025, Plastique crossed 4 million Instagram followers and got very close to surpassing Trixie.
