Though initially underestimated upon release, Overcompensating quickly skyrocketed to the No. 1 spot on Prime Video's watchlist and became a bona fide streaming sensation. Now, fans are desperate for more.Benito Skinner and Mary Beth Barone, alongside showrunner Scott King, spoke on a panel at an FYC event in Hollywood on Monday, June 16 and revealed what plotlines they'd love to dive into next."We have so many stories that we are not done telling," said Skinner. "We're so inspired by this cast and some of the people who came in for one day. We got Connie [Britton] and Kyle [MacLachlan] for like four days total, and what they've done in this show is remarkable. Caleb Heron was there for one day. Owen Thiele was there for like three. There's so much more to say in that experience of someone who's in the closet versus out, and the friction and finding friendship and that. Also, the siblings! There's so much to say here, and if you've seen the finale, you know that they might have to talk. I think we're ready to go. I mean, we've pitched it. We're ready." See on Instagram Scott King threw in his own pitch around the fan-favorite character played by Holmes. "Spring break with Hailee," the showrunner said. "Hailee directing Spring Break. We are so excited.""Zedd, 'Clarity' playing," Skinner jumped back in. "Chainsmokers, 'Roses.'"Skinner went on to reflect on the impact Season 1 is having, especially on the LGBTQ+ community."Some of the conversations I've had in the past few months are like, 'oh, but a coming out story now? Everyone's gay," recalled Skinner. "Maybe in Los Angeles and maybe in New York, but I don't think we know what people are saying in locker rooms in Idaho still, and I think if it's anything like what's going on in the White House, it's probably not that nice. It really took me one line that someone said when I was in first grade to be like, oh, I'm unlovable like this. I have to change who I am." See on Instagram Today, he's proud to hear stories from people who saw themselves in the show or even just a scene or a moment, though some of the DMs might be a bit TMI. "There's this moment, and I think that this did feel human and universal, but I get on all fours and I go through a trash can to see if a condom has been used or not. You have to not judge me. Yes, it's art, but it's really romantic. It's romantic when you watch. It was sweet. We shot it beautifully."The moment is the beginning of episode 6, where Benny allows his straight crush to bring a girl back to his dorm room."I think all of us have a private moment of exploring desire," Skinner reflects. "I know that all of you have done some shit like this because my DMs after... I didn't need to know that! Please don't tell me. Save it for your show, do it publicly on Prime."The actor also playfully revealed ways fans of the show could help get season 2 greenlit. "Go home and stream it, even if you've seen it, before you go to bed. It's really beautiful on the TV, the light reflecting off of it as you leave the house for the day," he said, to laughter from the crowd. "No, we probably aren't allowed to do that.""Write! Write to Amazon. Write to your senators," Barone added. You can watch Overcompensating right now on Prime Video.
