Happy Pride Month, Out readers!Did you hear about our Pride of Broadway event? The event, held in New York City on Monday, June 2, honored the Broadway divas on the latest cover of Out Magazine, as well as Cynthia Nixon, The Advocate's latest cover star.The red carpet featured many of the best and brightest of the LGBTQ+ world, including Nathan Lee Graham, Dominique Jackson, Judy Gold, Amy Schneider, Plasma, and, of course, some of the cover stars, including Megan Hilty, Lea Salonga, and Cynthia Nixon!Nixon spoke at the event, discussing the importance of queer media in the present day and the corporatization of Pride."Pride the last few years has just gotten a little sanitized and corporatized," she said. "And I think we don't need these people coming in and trying to steal our glitter and our glory and our spotlight. At a time like this, we need it to be us and the people who really care about us and want to fight for us."Hell's Kitchen star Maleah Joi Moon also spoke, welling up with tears at the importance of the moment."It's really important. I love being on this cover. I love sharing this cover with all these beautiful women, and queer icons, and allies," she said. "Pride Month is one of the most colorful and beautiful months of the year, and I'm so happy to be openly a part of it for the first time. Thank you for seeing me as the young, Black, queer woman artist that I am, and for honoring me. I honor you in return."While Broadway legend Kristin Chenoweth wasn't able to attend, she sent a message that was read onstage by Peppermint."I want to be the reminder that you are seen and that God loves you. That you are not tolerated, you are accepted," the message read. "We are all made in His image. So remember, he made you exactly who you are meant to be. I wish I was there to give everyone hugs and to check out everyone's outfits, because no one does it better than the queens.
